Re: northwest passage: a fan edit.

I just finished watching the 5-hour cut and I liked it with a few caveats. I really like the show LOST. For those not familiar with LOST, each episode has the main story with the large ensemble cast of plane crash survivors, but a good portion of each episode flashes back in the life of a particular...

Recurring themes

It has been posited that all of David Lynch's films and other works are all pieces of a larger whole. In that spirit, what are some recurring themes? Red drapes Blue roses People with physical deformities Red suits People with head injuries Vacuum cleaners Singers/performers on stage Dreams Hotels R...

Re: Movies David Should Have Directed

I'll tell you what: Inception would have been an EPIC film with a script rewrite and DL at the helm. (As it was, it sucked.) I do not agree. Lynch, if Fincher was not up for it, could direct either the Girl Who Played With Fire or Kicked The Hornets Nest. You don't agree with it sucking, or you don...

American Horror Story

It's about a dad, mom, and teenage daughter who move from Boston to LA after the mom has a miscarriage and the dad has an affair. They move into a giant old house that is very, very, very cheap. It's a whole story told in one season/12 episodes. There are some tiny loose ends, but nothing major. It'...

Re: Blue Velvet - the original seed of Twin Peaks?

In addition to what garethw is saying, there seems to be a strong shared theme of the virgin/whore. I would love to see a feminist reading of Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, or any of Lynch's works sometime, but it seems like he's always got the innocent virgin and the dangerous femme fat...

Re: Damon Lindelof: from Twin Peaks fan to Lost co-creator..

Anyone here who hasn't seen LOST really should.

I feel like I'm being somehow UNFAITHFUL to Twin Peaks with my love for LOST, but I totally enjoyed both shows. Both have rough edges, but LOST provided 6 seasons of fun and adventure and major character deaths. :D

Re: The Cars of Twin Peaks...

Very cool...

I think the cars contribute to the timeless feel of the show.

A relative watched MD and said "what year is this supposed to be?" and I think TP has a similar feeling.

Re: a twin peaks mystery

I think the only thing that could have held down the second season after Leland's death is Cooper/Audrey. So wrong and yet so right... Also, the more time goes by the more I realize that the problem with the second season is that all the "bad" guys got neutered. For example, Bobby used to ...

Re: Let's talk changes: how would you change FWWM?

I've noticed a few people saying they are huge fans of the show but don't like FWWM at all. I always found this interesting. It's not as if they are completely different things? I'm rewatching the end of the first season, and (since I was the one who ripped on the film upthread) part of the joy of ...

Re: Explain it to me like I'm 5

I think I figured out part of my own question. Hank went away for vehicular manslaughter in order to avoid implication in a much greater crime: Andrew's murder. According to teh wikipedia, vehicular manslaughter involves negligence, and it's considered a subset of negligent homicide. The type of neg...
