Re: northwest passage: a fan edit.

Well it was shot on film.
If the director's had a different aspect ratio in mind while shooting is another matter.
I would think not though as it was shot for television.

Re: Love MD but hate the ending

And, yes, a lot of Lynch's endings are happy. Except I would add Blue Velvet to the list of uncertain ones. I really do feel that while she is reuninted with her son, Dorothy did love Frank and longs for him still. I don't see that at all. Is the end really sad ? I wonder ? At the end, isn't she fr...

I've heard good things about it and it being the best of the bunch. That will be my next Lynch book to get.

Re: Introductions

Greetings all, Just a quick little intro. If you'd like to know more about me then read my posts. :P I'm a huge Doctor Who fan from way back and live in Florida -USA-. DUNE and Twin Peaks got me hooked on David Lynch's work and inspire me in my hobby as a film maker. I'm trying to get a little horro...

Re: Deleted scenes

I've always assumed, for the most part, that the third part of the movie when identities change again was all the new stuff he filmed. He was probably setting up big story lines for when the pilot went to series that had to be cut to make a movie. He should own the rights to all the footage now righ...

Re: Love MD but hate the ending

It really is pretty bleak. Not sure if it's alone in Lynch's work in being so, though. Lost Highway? The Twin Peaks finale? Even FWWM - while Laura gets what she wants, what she wants is terribly tragic. OK yeah Lost Highway maybe not a happy ending either, but it sure was exciting. :P Twin Peak se...

Re: Deleted scenes

I see what you mean now garethw. I had no idea there was a second cut. I just got the Revised Edition of Lynch On Lynch and he does talk about the "butchered" 88 minute 2nd cut that was leaked to the internet. I'd still love to see his original 2 hour and 5 minute cut. That is a lot of ext...

Re: Eraserhead blu-ray scheduled for September

What's the word on this release? It doesn't look like this is likely to be the Lynch owned/approved HD master that came out on R1 DVD. I'd be wary of the quality to be honest, unless anyone can vouch for its provenance? From what I've heard Lynch has sold the distribution rights to Eraserhead so th...

Yes. David didn't want it, but it leaked to the Internet.
Yes but I've never heard of a second pilot.

Love MD but hate the ending

I just re-watched the film and have to say I REALLY hate that ending.

I remember most, if not all, of Lynch's previous films have had an uplifting ending (although not always obvious).
This one just ends in unhappiness. What is going on here?

Re: Best/favorite book on Lynch?

OK still not decided. 'David Lynch: Beautiful Dark' or Chion's 2nd edition 'David Lynch'.
Can anyone give pros and cons as compared to each other?

I'm re-reading 'Lynch On Lynch' again and I am glued to the book.
