Re: No Ray Wise?

Oh, how I would love to read the early versions of the season 3 script!! I wonder if maybe, just maybe, the dropped scenes that were written were things between Leland and the Man from Another Place in the Lodge and when Michael J. Anderson dropped out, the ideas didn't seem as cool to Lynch if don...

Re: No Ray Wise?

Frost has talked at length about the ending of Season 3 being what he and Lynch crafted, and the thematic reasons for it. I have never seen anything to suggest the final scene was originally intended to air earlier or repeat. Kyle never said that, either. He definitely did, in at least one intervie...

Re: No Ray Wise?

Based on a mixture of anecdotal evidence from Frost himself and some informed speculation, I don't believe the ending was ever anything other than what it was. But that's me. What did Frost say, do you remember? I always thought it was odd that they allowed fans close to shooting that exact scene. ...

Re: No Ray Wise?

Yes, despite the deviations, the show stuck to the overall concept. But it was no secret that Lynch's off-the-cuff style was prickly. The Ending...which just might have not been the End, but rather that the beginning was the end. They were playing with that Golden Circle for sure. -Mordeen This is ...

Sure would like to read that script :D

Re: The Great 'Mr. C' Debate

he just wanders around. He gets caught by the lodge calling him while driving, which looks like a real amateur mistake. I think you misunderstood what happened during that desert drive. Mr.C knew exactly when and where he would need to be at 2.53. Remember that you see that same stretch of desert i...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

At the end of the day, it's all down to personal taste and what moves you. On a whole, TR felt disappointing to me. We got that many pages ago. Your feelings are clear. This thread isn't your forum to repeatedly insult and condescend to anyone who liked a scene (or series) you didn't. Tone it down ...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Honestly I think it is a matter of you guys not seeing the forest for the trees. On my original watch I outright hated the second half of ep.17. Definitely the green glove scene felt flat and unearned. But by about ten minutes into ep.18 I realised what the writers were up to, and it all fell into p...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

It's easy to over-intellectualize things. I read one comment earlier in the thread where the poster suggested that one must do as Dr. Amp says, dig yourself out of the shit, to really learn to appreciate the greatness of the Return :) It becomes a little far fetched. . I think you missed the point ...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Started rewatching FWWM yesterday. The part where Laura goes home in the middle of the day, hesitating to go into her bedroom because of Bob possibly being there, and the jolt of fear that literally goes through the body when you start noticing he's in the room. Almost as if you were there in the r...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

I am seeing some comments saying it was "meant to be uninmpressive"... Come on :) That's just blind Lynch worship, finding ways to justify *anything*. So first the artists did bad work - and afterwards they lied to us about what their intentions were? Should we also just ignore that every...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Well, he claims to be Cooper, but why does he act so strangely? I remain very confused about the events depicted. Is it possible that Cooper went home to Vegas and this isn't him? You've got all the right puzzle pieces in play, but I put them together differently. I think that when you make a Tulpa...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

Is it too simple to say Cooper is to Richard as Betty is to Diane Selwyn? Definitely. The episode exploits our collective memory of the "Mulholland Dr." twist to insinuate that this might be reoccuring here. Is Cooper really Cooper? As the episode progresses even he starts to not believe ...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

With some time having passed, what are your thoughts on this scene? Personally, the first time I saw it I couldn't believe that the monumental killing of Bob played out on an almost parodic B horror movie level. It was sad. Watching it again it's perhaps a bit stronger but so empty on atmosphere th...

Re: Theories & Speculation

So is it a good thing that Cooper is striving to become someone who isn't just shuffling towards his grave, then? Well, that question entails that you or I agree with Jack Parsons notion of "ordinary" life having no meaning or merit, but clearly The Return has a different view on that, wh...
