Which gets us to Judy, whom Loretta Young didn’t want to talk about.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I’ve never revered Lynch as a god like a lot of the people I have met in the fandom, so I’ve been forgivable about what I felt was the sloppiness and unevenness of the new season (that was mapped out and planned unlike the second season). I’m just ultimately disappointed in how mean and dismal he an...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

He’s been remaking Vertigo with Peaks since practically Day One of the series. Maddy Ferguson being the obvious hybrid of Stewart and Novak. But even more so Lynch became Ferguson by falling in love with the Laura character in general.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

really though - there was something really great about the constraints in Hollywood film making that made it more exciting. I mean not obviously across the board... but to watch the ingenuity of some of the sly geniuses working around that to deliver the goods. (Lubitsch, Sturges, Wilder, Hitchcock,...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Yeah, I dislike about half of the second season and it never ruined the first half for me... just left me, er, disappointed. What leaves me more disillusioned is my dislike for parts of the second season was always chalked up to the rigors of television making under a grueling schedule, and just sho...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Yeah, I know it wasn’t directed at me... I was just profoundly rambling. And I agree, unless it was me they called upon to fix things. I’m arrogant enough to think, “hold on guys, let me help you out here, it’ll be okay, Mark, David...I’ve got this.”

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Yes, one can say the fathers are the end all in their decision making, and this is their vision. But that doesn’t mean the viewer even if he or she was a fan has to automatically like the end result. It doesn’t mean I dislike Frost or Lynch, but just disappointed in what they presented. To me, it wa...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31 (SPOILERS)

but Lynch and Frost did plot out the structure of the first season narrative together post Pilot getting picked up. And did select the directors together. And the directors were working off of the Pilot for tone and style. And both Lynch and Frost brought in Engels and Peyton (who i believe provided...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31 (SPOILERS)

But you know to quote Frost this is what happens in real life. I have no idea why they bothered to retcon Wheeler, have Audrey now attached to fake Cooper (to recall the original pairing from the glory days of the series), break free of the Horne empire and money, have a devil child... and then do n...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Some could still maintain that FWWM while having a stellar soundtrack is still a piece of convolution and pretension.

Re: Mark Frost's Contributions to TP:TR (Speculation)

And to piggyback on that... no spoiler tag for me... there’s no exploration of the passage of time in book or series. Just bleakness. That might be fine if this were The Wire, but for me, I don’t really feel the Peaks characters warrant it. I’m not inspired by these stylized characters, only depress...

Re: Mark Frost's Contributions to TP:TR (Speculation)

Laughing, I think objectively it was more than a wish. I just took it for granted that starting out, Frost and Lynch would be thinking what to do with Coooer, Audrey and Truman... (even if I hated those three) and then also how to continue to have Laura and the Palmers remain a central external myst...
