Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I’m Charlie Brown, Lynch is Lucy with the football. I’ll always keep coming back.

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

I come away one year later just baffled, honestly. Not that they would throw more wonderful ambiguity at us in the end, that’s fine... but in terms of their structure along the way. I felt they needed to streamline and have actual basic bulletproof points to hit when it would go ambiguous. The best ...

Just by citing His Girl Friday, you’re okay in my book, or script.

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

No, I think Lynch is a fine writer... it’s hard. Blue Velvet is wonderful in that respects. But for me when Peaks was working consistantly -really during its first season at its tightest- was when it was breezy, snappy, like a 30, 40s film. And that also led to the strength when Lynch would come in ...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

It's all good. it was a how are we feeling one year later answer. For me, revisiting some moments with the hand on the fast forward button. 18 hrs is a lot of Lynch for me- and for me, with everything generally the same tempo and heightened importance, it tends to negate it and sink... ev er y sing ...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

One year later? Well, I guess, um... the pitfalls of the second season I coukd always reconcile to outside forces... but this one with all the creative control Lynch and Forst had and time to plan it as a whole... er, um... I think they needed a few more rounds with their structure. Some fantastic m...

Re: Emmy Nominations thread

I’m not entirely sure how the nominating process works, but at least with SAG, when I was on nominating committee, I was provided with a giant booklet of all the potential nominees that were submitted and had to mark off x number of choices in each category. Now I know the academy does it by categor...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group

No, Mr. C is not dumb. Like Windom Earle is not dumb. The situation from the writers and through line and execution is what winds up making it dumb.

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

If they were going this route with Coooer as Richard, then I would’ve had Audrey be in the grove clearing and go in the trip... so we think we’re still watching a conventional story... aha, she’s saved. She spies Diane outside the hotel... oh no, she’s back as an evil tulpa or is that the real Diane...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

Heather is great... Annie, eh... plot device. Audrey and Cooper were the bee’s knees. At this stage, I’m mostly just poking fun at my horrible luck with this show. I still think the original cast from the first season was lightning in a bottle and the possibilities of bringing them all back truly a ...

really? Annie and Diane? This show really went so far off course for me starting... I guess January 1991. I have the worst luck with this thing.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

If someone wants to get rid of their stuff, burn it, smoke it... more power to them. It’s personal. I know I can’t even look at my stuff, and put it all in boxes at the back of a closet. And it’s personal to someone being disappointed to something that meant a lot to them. And this seems like the pl...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Ultimately Sarah was more effective for me just by showing her sitting in her living room affected by grief ... by making her (allegedly Judy) it sort of cheapens the ramifications of real life tragedies. But isn’t that arguably equally true of the whole Bob concept on the original show? Dale and A...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I actually love moments like Ed sitting in the middle of the night watching thenoutsid world go by. I like the roadhouse scenes (mostly) displaying slices of overheard life in a small town, I even like the eighteen hour sweeping scene. I think my narrative problems stem more in the mysteries the FBI...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

To me, there’s wonderful directing and flourishes. There’s almost nothing but talented actors and performers in this overcrowded landscape. But for me, nothing to latch onto. Everything seems like a setup with no pay off. And I know most will respond to that statement of wanting things to be explain...
