Re: Let's talk about Judy

there is also a similarity between Blue Velvet and Shadow of a Doubt...the cross-over between different worlds in DL's mind might even include Hitchcock's movies...which despite being less overt about it are equally esoteric and conspiratorial...

Re: The Owl Cave Ring - thematic significance

I wonder if the Owl Cave ring is inspired by the blind (and reputedly dark) agreement made for material gain when someone becomes a mason and then, wedded to the unseen, is given a masonic ring.

Just a thought. Please carry on.

Re: Best Frost episodes of Hill Street Blues?

Yeah I think Frost is quite talented even if he doesn't have the notoriety or charisma that Lynch and his work exudes. All the better for Twin Peaks 2016.

Re: fascinating boredom

I'm going to watch IE again soon...going to build up to it by watching the other movies first. Then I'll watch TP and FWWM right before the TP season 3 airs. Not sure if I should watch FWWM before or after TP seasons 1&2. Already watched Lost Highway again recently...was awesome but this time I ...

Re: Best Frost episodes of Hill Street Blues?

Omg...that story about the actress is so bizarre and unsettling...Frost seems to rival Lynch in some ways when it comes to the creep factor...I wonder if he is somehow connected to any secret societies...the smiley face thing in The Believers movie is especially weird given that later on a strange p...

Re: The Owl Cave Ring - thematic significance

I don't want to derail the main subject of this thread but I came across this movie on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3W74bwxRDQ Unfortunately it's not a very flattering depiction of TM. The Hindu Guru in charge of the ashram that Maharishi came out of is interviewed at the end and basica...

Re: Dopplegangers

Are the dopplegangers supposed to be expansions of the evil spirits who await the fall of human character or are they parts of each human or both? I thought the last mirror scene meant that the evil doppleganger is always a personalized version of an evil spirit possession, that Leland was the doppl...

Re: The Owl Cave Ring - thematic significance

[For an art contest at school Lynch made his first film: an animated 10-second loop that features six heads, which throw up and then catch on fire. He shared first prize. A fellow student, who loved the piece, gave Lynch $1,000 to build a sculpture with a working film loop in it for his living room....

Re: The Owl Cave Ring - thematic significance

Thanks, I believe the Mararishi originally came from a non-dualist school of Hinduism but he may have tried to distinguish TM from Hinduism proper as it was marketed as a new religion based on a scientific interpretation of Vedic ideas. It may have developed into something bearing more similarity to...
