Re: Laura's diary pages (Potential Spoiler?)
What I will say (without evidence) is that I think if the TV show didn't exist, no one would care about the books, and the only reason anyone cares about the books is the TV show. Sure, but there's plenty of things I never would have checked out had the TV show not alluded to them, for instance, a ...

Re: Laura's diary pages (Potential Spoiler?)
if you're going to say a book written only by one of the co-creators is fan fic you can also say a movie directed and written by only one of the co-creators is fan fic. you can ignore them because you don't like how they fit within your conception of the series or you can not reconcile the differen...

Re: Laura's diary pages (Potential Spoiler?)
The show and FWWM create their own continuity errors (such as the many entries Laura wrote after giving the diary to Harold, as I detailed above). And the book was a New York Times best seller. It’s a little dismissive to call it fan fic when Mark gave Jennifer the outline of what story points he n...

Re: Lynch Telling off his crew
I think the most interesting "self-conscious" Lynch scene is the "I'm old school" scene with Denise. It really dances around something, but never quite makes a point, and I am really curious what they were thinking with that scene.

Re: Laura's diary pages (Potential Spoiler?)
Sheryl Lee read it and used it to inform her performance, and seeing as she's a major driving force for the movie, for that reason alone I don't think it's entirely right to disregard it. Informing a performance doesn't make it useful for tracking dates for plot continuity. Also, no matter what inf...

Re: Laura's diary pages (Potential Spoiler?)
I don't see any point in bothering with the Secret Diary fanfic. Lynch never read it, and he doesn't even care about his own continuity! I would stick to TV + FWWM, to make it a bit less messy. Re: Lynch Telling off his crew
I don't want to fall all over myself making excuses for Lynch's behavior as some do, I think what is shown in the BTS is pretty disappointing. At the same time, on the spectrum of "directors behaving badly", it's not really that serious.

Re: LMFAP original season 3 script page!
I think it's a bit bizarre that he is referred to as "Philip Gerard", when that was clearly just a host name (the original series/FWWM are confused about this as well, so I guess it's not a surprise), it would be like calling Bob "Leland Palmer".

Re: What did we know before?
I knew Janey-E's real name maybe a year beforehand. (I stayed silent when a fake name for her began circulating, and I still don't know why that happened unless someone felt like making it up to seem important.) I knew she was played by Naomi Watts, was a love interest for Cooper and had a little b...

Re: Twin Peaks Actually Explained (Youtube)
Joel Bocko's videos really are the cream of the crop. His latest few on Lynch's collaboration with Mary Sweeney are particularly good. Just to keep the positivity flowing, here are a number of other video essays which I think are worthwhile for various reasons: To Linger With You by Corn Pone Flick...

Re: The biggest problem with The Return - the fear/mystery element largely missing?
I don't think digital was the problem, it was rehashing old material. The good part of Season 3 (I acknowledge no marketing terms from Showtime) was Part 8, the purple place, etc, and used a lot of CGI and digital photography, but it was NEW, and I think Lynch was more excited about it than the old ...

Re: The biggest problem with The Return - the fear/mystery element largely missing?
Bob was completely ruined by Season 3, but that's partially not their fault. I think they struggled to reconcile doppelganger Cooper with Bob possession, this was a problem created in the 90s. Also, the red room/black lodge stuff was not as effective as it used to be: the sets felt huge and empty, l...
