Re: RIP Peggy Lipton

Wasn’t a fan of season three, but her scenes were a high point. Her character was wonderfully conveyed in the original show: a middle-aged woman whose personal life had gone off the deep end because of a teenage misjudgement.

Rest in peace.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

That might be the most extreme reaction I've heard to disappointment over a work. Was it so bad to you that you had to give away even stuff from the past? I'm over 50 percent disappointed with the show, but that doesn't affect my affection for past works. Did you just donate it, then, without compe...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

You're darn tootin'. We folks who didn't like the new season simply didn't get it, those of ya folks that liked it, on the other hand, did. It's that simple. My reaction’s been more straightforward: last weekend, I took my complete Twin Peaks Blu-Ray box set, my David Lynch movie Blu-ray set, the S...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Hey folks! Long time. Sorry to see some of my remarks were shared on other fora without my knowledge. I’d naively assumed that what was posted here stayed among friends; if I’d have been asked, I’d have willingly written proper articles open for criticism. It’s been a while and I guess I’d stayed aw...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Given TPTR is the epitome of postmodernism, anyone with any genuine intellect should dismiss it for the cultural irrelevance it is. It’s not art. It’s also possible to be objective about art (unless you’re a postmodernist, in which case any old crap can be called ‘art.’) My values come from the Enli...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

What I don't understand is any long time Peakster who could not take something of value from the show. You may hate Wally Brando, but certainly you could at the same appreciate the Purple Room scene, a worthy successor to the Black Lodge scenes of 1991, or all of Episode 8, and the eerie humor of t...

Re: Did Cooper really fail? Was Laura really supposed to die?

Excellent post. Definitely food for thought! Yes, I wondered that. Lynch has seemingly developed a great love of Laura and his raison d’être appears to me have shifted from the original idea of the ‘dead girl’ macguffin leading to new stories in the town to making Laura the main character in his fa...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

I am not sure if you'll like it more if you see it on Blu-Ray, but I can tell you that it looks a LOT better. The cheap HD video looks has finally been graded to look more like film with a rich color palette much closer to the old show. That’s really interesting. Watching it on Now TV (Sky’s intern...

Re: TP:TR. Full 18-hour experience

And actually, I really enjoy Lucy shooting DoppelCoop. The fact that Lucy and a late-game new arrival do the heavy lifting in the “climactic” battle is actually probably more satisfying to me than a “Cooper vs. Cooper” battle Its interesting that the more ‘simple’ characters are the most impactful ...

Re: TP:TR. Full 18-hour experience

I half suspect that at the end of season eight David Lynch will be revealed as the dreamer and Cooper, Carrie and Diane will emerge from the curtains now named Kyle, Sheryl and Laura and drunk cocktails with DKL and Mark Frost!!

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

In keeping with the weirdness of Twin Peaks... at the end of my (boozy) birthday weekend last night, I dreamt a long conversation with David Lynch where we had a discussion about TPTR. He was really nice to me, even though I said I hated it and thanked me for taking the time to watch the show and be...

Re: should "Windswept" have been utilized more in The Return?

Yes! Both the titular track and others like Insomnia, as you point out. But I wouldn't know where they would fit... I wonder why Lynch went for an instrumental version of Saturday for Chromatics' second Roadhouse appearance? Did the lyrics not fit? Maybe Megan Louise simply wasn’t available, so it ...

Right. I’m basically going to skedaddle for the Christmas period. It’s been a strange and fascinating year. It’s been a blast talking to everyone here. Wishing you all a fantastic Christmas and New Year. I’ll raise a glass to you all when I’m sitting next to my parents’ Christmas tree tomorrow. Dom x

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

That would count as editorial oversight, given a duke who wants a waltz for a society party would not be expected to be happy with Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima Except in this case the duke wanted the latter, got it, and you're sitting in the audience complaining that it wasn't a waltz. I’d...
