Re: Did Cooper really fail? Was Laura really supposed to die?

Excellent post. Definitely food for thought! Yes, I wondered that. Lynch has seemingly developed a great love of Laura and his raison d’être appears to me have shifted from the original idea of the ‘dead girl’ macguffin leading to new stories in the town to making Laura the main character in his fa...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

I agree that it looks a LOT better on Blu Ray. The nuanced differences in lighting and color grading from scene to scene are much more apparent. The sheriff’s station stuff, which I thought looked particularly flat on the streaming platform, is now quite beautiful with both external amd internal lig...

Re: Billy and Charlie

I still haven't had time to go and compare the Blu Ray and stream side by side (not the whole thing, just the places that felt different to me). Some things I don't know whether have been changed or if I just remember them wrong. For instance in the scene where Mr.C kills Ray and is told about &quo...

Re: Billy and Charlie

There are many things altered between the show and the blu ray edition, one of those things is that there is no longer a visual glitch when Todd dies. Hmm, that’s very “George Lucas” of DKL. I know he also removed some boom mikes and corrected other technical errors in the original show for the Blu...

Re: Part 12 - Let's rock (SPOILERS)

Eyeboogers has pointed out that the “Albatross” jerky logo resembles the “Judy” symbol in part (circle and horns, albeit the horns are pointing the wrong direction). I also think the V-shape of the “steer’s head” portion of the logo calls to mind the Jumping Man/frogmoth beak, possibly implying a fu...

Re: Part 11 - There's fire where you are going (SPOILERS)

A few observations: Maybe I missed it, but I haven’t seen anyone mention that there is a sign for a Masonic lodge (Unity Lodge 189) in the background of the establishing shot of the Double R! Sure enough, I looked it up and this is a real location a few doors down from Twede’s. Does Mark know about ...

Re: TP:TR. Full 18-hour experience

I get everything you’re saying; I guess part of the problem too is that the jarring change in pacing and tone pulls me out of the show in a way that the sweeping scene or shovel-painting scenes don’t, even though they are equally “showy” in their own way about defying convention. Maybe it’s that the...

Re: TP:TR. Full 18-hour experience

Totally fair. Like I said, I was just speculating and going off what that one poster wrote. I’m still working my way through the series in glorious high def (slowly, thanks to my brutal work schedule, and also working on my TP timeline project as I go along) before actually watching the behind the s...

Re: Billy and Charlie

I'm also of the opinion that Phyllis Hastings was possessed by a Woodsman, as suggested by the appearance of the Woodsman near hear husband's holding cell, and Mr. C's cryptic comments to her (something about her imitating human nature? Can't remember the specific quote). Also, I imagine that the w...

Re: TP:TR. Full 18-hour experience

I think Freddie and the Green Glove is the equivalent of the stuffed Robin at the end of Blue Velvet. We should be wary because it’s too good to be true. Something is ‘off’ and should be questioned. The fact that something was intended as a subversive commentary on storytelling conventions (as Fros...

Re: TP:TR. Full 18-hour experience

I’ve said it before, but I have to chime in: the random Roadhouse townie scenes are among my favorite parts of the show as well. So many terrific little characters and moments to think about. For instance, Scott Coffey’s entrance is such a thing of beauty.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

But then again, I shouldn't be surprised since FWWM provoked a similar reaction if I recall correctly. I am curious about this. I remember feeling gutted and frustrated when I first saw FWWM, and I love it now. I wonder if I'll come around to S3. Can't see it happening now, but time will tell. I of...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

And if you'd care to look, you'd see the majority of those who've liked it is not so "vast" as you like to claim, and has not been even as it was airing - don't mistake the ovations of Lynch's regulars, new actors over the moon about the fact that they've been in the Genius' workshop and ...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

Scattered thoughts: I’ve just about entirely convinced myself that the Rancho Rosa logo is the mouth of Johnny’s bear, with the lightbulb inside a circle and the material around the logo resembling the stuff in the bear’s mouth. (Btw, what a missed opportunity that Showtime isn’t marketing those, wi...
