Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

But Lynch doesn't normally make mistakes with sound, not even one! So I'm surprised he went with that choice for Del Rio. To me, the quintessential sound of TP are those ominous chords that mark the beginning of Laura Palmer's Theme. Repeated over and over! Feels like I could listen to that forever,...

Re: Twin Peaks Blu-Ray Sync issues (spoiler free tech thread

Also, tried disabling 1080p/24Hz output in the BD output settings and the audio is spot on perfect, at least in the Barbershop Breakfast scene in Ep 9. No issues there anymore.
Hopefully this will also carry on to the Missing Pieces disc but haven't had a chance to test yet.

Re: Twin Peaks Blu-Ray Sync issues (spoiler free tech thread

OK, I finally figured out what was happening re: full frame/aspect ratio on the Aus DVD sets. Turns out I'm totally idiotic, the answer is so very, very simple. I hadn't realised that BD/DVD players often have the option of "Full" or "Original" screen format, when watching 4:3 co...

Re: Twin Peaks Blu-Ray Sync issues (spoiler free tech thread

i just checked my copy of the Australian Season 1 DVD set and it's full frame 4:3 same as the Blu Ray Thanks for checking your copy, still confused though, how can something be "full frame [and] 4:3"? Aren't these two terms contradictory to each other? Your Aus S1 DVD set doesn't have the...

Re: Twin Peaks Blu-Ray Sync issues (spoiler free tech thread

Just remembered reading somewhere that the full frame editions of TP (ie Aus DVD sets and possibly others too), caused continuity problems due to them not looking at anything outside the 4:3 while filming (and understandably so). Not that it caused many problems, I think the main one people referenc...

Re: Twin Peaks Blu-Ray Sync issues (spoiler free tech thread

UPDATE: re sync issues - just checked Disc 3, Episode 9, and the Barbershop Breakfast is definitely out of sync on my copy as well.

Bummer.

Re: Twin Peaks Blu-Ray Sync issues (spoiler free tech thread

Yep, I'm pretty sure. But I get confused about whether there is a difference between "widescreen" (which makes me think of a typical movie presentation, with borders on top and bottom) vs FULL FRAME - which doesn't have such borders anywhere. Is that the only difference between them? The A...

Re: Twin Peaks Blu-Ray Sync issues (spoiler free tech thread

Hmm, Not sure what is happening lately re: CBS, they STILL seem quiet on this! I ordered my boxset through Amazon UK (I live in Australia, went with UK because it was cheaper) but that was back in July 2014 so my return window is LONG since closed. Didn't know/think about there being a return window...
