Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

The Sharon Van Etten is great and getting great reviews.

Elsewhere, Caleb Deschanel was nominated for Best Cinematography for the German film Never Look Away. That's a pretty impressive feat, even if the director of the film is known to the Academy due to The Lives of Others.

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome)

I'm with you on that and think she played it really well. Man, if only they'd focused on that more and dropped J.J. Wheeler. I just happened to be envisioning the season filmed a decade or so earlier, and pictured her roped into the Gordon and Albert outing. Audrey is who first came to mind back wh...

Re: No Ray Wise?

This is just my reading of Ray Wise's performance in FWWM, but his few showings of remorse or sympathy in FWWM always struck me as being just that: shows, deliberately put on by Leland to convince himself and the world that he was a good guy. There's a scene directly after the fingernail scene, whe...

Re: No Ray Wise?

It kinda felt like the sad version of Leland seen in S3 was more in line with the original series' "Leland as good guy possessed by BOB" than FWWM's "Leland as a horrible monster who is somehow connected to BOB". The mopey old guy who asked Agent Cooper to "find Laura"...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

Sharon Van Etten has a new album coming out tomorrow. It's very good. She's gone synth, a move said to be inspired by her time spent in Twin Peaks and with...Michael Cera.

Re: No Ray Wise?

I think the tidbit straight from Ray Wise himself as Mordeen personally met him and (IIRC) had dinner with him. Ray and his wife were close personal friends to my parents (who have since died), dating back to before I was born. The picture I posted with him and myself was from my going away party b...

Re: No Ray Wise?

Hello again peeps. I thought I'd pop in and noticed this thread. I can state unequivocally that the only contributing factor to Ray's extremely limited presence in The Return was David Lynch. -Mordeen I've been wondering what you thought of The Return. You were a key member to follow during the bui...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

You should start with Lynch. See Inland Empire... then wait for 2h53... SURPRISE. If you have seen Lynch previous works, you know who they are and where they are. I've seen everything a number of times and rewatched his filmography after The Return, and I didn't ever recall seeing 2:53 on a clock. ...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

I watch, on average, around 20 movies a week along with what couple of series I'm watching, 20 movies a week?! Do you by any chance have a device that doubles the amount of hours per day? :D Me, I'm lucky if I manage to squeeze in 2-3 flicks per week. It's not that I don't have the time, well, it's...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

I'm not sure which thread to post this in, but one effect that The Return has had on me is that I compulsively look at every clock I see in a film/series, and check to see if any of them read 2:53. I watch, on average, around 20 movies a week along with what couple of series I'm watching, and over t...

Re: Recut of TPTR

Yeah, I totally agree. Windom really started to 'work' for me as a character during the last few episodes, as the quest for the Lodge(s) really put his character's motivations into focus. I honestly couldn't stand him at all the first few times I watched the show, but over time, his appearances in ...

Re: Recut of TPTR

I heard Lynch never liked the character of Windom, which is a shame. I don’t think I’ve ever heard DKL mention Windom, except in character as Gordon, although I certainly have a hunch you may be correct based on his comments on S2 and his stated vision of TP (even Harley Peyton has admitted the wri...

Re: Recut of TPTR

I simply can't imagine waiting 25 years for more Twin Peaks and then complaining that there's too much of it once it finally arrives. Because what we got too much of is not Twin Peaks - not that Twin Peaks for which we've been waiting 25 years, at any rate. Yeah, give me more of what was once deeme...

Re: Recut of TPTR

This should have been an 8 or 9 episode series. I would have episodes 1,2,3,4,8,16,17,18, maybe with 1 slower less-significant episode. with the more relevant pieces from other episodes patched in. Most of the Las Vegas storyline would be cut. I just want to say that I totally agree with this. It o...
