Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

Has anybody checked out the new NIN album? It’s very Lynchian and most of the tracks are atmospheric and industrial in nature. Feels very much like the music from Season 3 I downloaded though I haven't listened yet. But Ghosts I - IV were also ambient instrumental pieces, and I assume these are sim...

Re: RIP Krzysztof Penderecki

I guess no one else here cares, but David Lynch pays respect to Penderecki. https://twitter.com/DAVID_LYNCH/status/1244670732421873672 Dear Twitter Friends, So sad to hear of the passing of Krzysztof Penderecki. Krzysztof Penderecki was one of the greatest composers of all time!!! I care. Thank you!

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

What about the sick zombie-esque girl with the unknown disease and her honking mother in Part 11? I think that level of panic and confusion goes along with what you're saying as well. Definitely. I think there's also something also to be said for The Return's fixation (or mere acknowledgement) of h...

Re: Season 3, The First Draft - Speculation etc.

FWIW, I take his answer about Mr. C’s phone call as pretty definitely stating that the person on the other end of the line is Judy/Joudy impersonating Jeffries in order to find Briggs. I'm curious why you think that? Not disagreeing, would just love more of your thoughts on it. I remember the big t...

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

Twin Peaks: The Return just topped another of the most important film magazine's best films of the decade list, topping Cinema Scope's poll. They're perhaps the best North American publication out there.

Re: Season 3, The First Draft - Speculation etc.

I completely understand if you prefer getting the book in paperform, but still wanted to mention that it is out as an ebook (that is how I am currently reading it). He might also be having pandemic-related financial issues, as many are. It’s a strange and trying time. As of yet, there's none of tho...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I can confirm that TPTR in various ways was a major influence on "Too Old To Die Young". Really? How? I've seen Too Old...and quite liked it but I couldn't see any major link to The Return. Apart from perhaps the pacing being glacial at times, although it was markedly slower-paced than Se...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I was responding to your comment - "In terms of critical reception and cultural significance the Return is clearly every bit as important as either of those films (probably a great deal more than WAH)." All I meant was that I believe The Return to be no more critically or culturally signi...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Not sure what you mean by The Return being more important than Wild at Heart? After the big win at Cannes, Wild at Heart received a mixed critical reception, and began the Lynch backlash which coincided with season 2 of Twin Peaks, and affected his reputation up to his popular rehabilitation with S...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Sure, I didn't mean the exact same sort of mainstream successs as Twin Peaks in 1990 - but that was a network TV show. All I am suggesting is Lynch gaining the sort of talk and interest in whatever he's up to that happened with Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart. Mulholland Drive was pretty buzzworthy i...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

The specifc location is not as important to me as the story. If Lynch just makes something which feels like the same sort of territory as Lost Highway, Mulholland Dr. or INLAND EMPIRE, I'd be disappointed. Depending on how good it is of course. All I care about is seeing something great and Lynch g...

Re: Season 3, The First Draft - Speculation etc.

Interesting about Carrie being scripted all along but not Richard and Linda, and that Frost may not actually know what Richard and Linda mean. Cooper must have been written either as Cooper, or a slippery, edgier, fully integrated version of Cooper still known only as Cooper. I thought the same thi...

Re: Twin Peaks: From Z To A 12/10 & The Television Collection 10/15 Blu-Ray & DVD Sets

as written, that was 100% Cooper's Jeffries scene What do you mean by this part? But I agree that Lynch wanted to make it more abstract. I think Frost is of the opposing/metaphorical view. What a mess, lol. In Conversations with Mark Frost(which everyone should buy and read) Mark says of Jeffries a...
