Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

But the fight's over the topness may be one of the clues that what we are seeing may not be what it seems; or that it is an apocalyptic battle taking place in a small little room in the middle of nowhere, which is at least surreal and funny. Regardless of what anyone thinks of it, the scene stands o...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

I posted a while back about how menacing BOB was, and how in contrast the Woodsmen just seemed silly because BOB can take you over, corrupt you, cause you to betray the ones you love and ultimately ruin your reality, whereas the Woodsmen just pop your head like a cherry tomato and bam, you're histo...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

EDIT - a quoted post from over in the Bluray thread The BTS insights are fascinating. When Lynch describes Freddie's fight with Bob, it sounds so much more visceral, disturbing, intimate and apocalyptic than what I experienced in Part 17. The light in Freddie's glove, "Bob distorts across the ...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

However, I’m not entirely certain that Lynch meant it that way, and still wonder what his intentions were in the execution. I can’t help imagining the more elaborate epic version of the scene he describes in the BTS footage (with black rain), and wonder if the ultimate execution was a budget-fueled...

Re: Freddie's fight scene in part 17

It’s still maybe the part of TP:TR that leaves me most conflicted. Having freeze-framed a lot of this sequence, I admire the artistry behind the use of light and color, which is quite beautiful in individual shots, as well as the way the wonky whip-cam shooting style and editorial overlaps abstract...

Re: Theories & Speculation

I don't think Lynch/Engels came up with all that mythology for FWWM. Rather I think Lynch/Frost had a way more detailed mythology planned out from the original show than we knew about. F.ex. TSHoTP ties the mythology back to "The Lemurians", the show Lynch/Frost had been shopping around p...

Re: Theories & Speculation

I've read twice recently that Frost's original title was going to be Dead Man's Journey, and I believe you all obviously, but can someone link me the original article/interview? I believe this was from the Sam Esmail interview: https://m.soundcloud.com/thetalkhouse/esmail-frost-320 Don’t have a tim...

I'd really like to think about what that might mean. Is it in any way supposed to be a literal application to the Cooper c...

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome)

Maybe he's also drawn in to what appears to be a pure and innocent person who was never given a chance to be that. She's an ideal idea to him, just like she is to Lynch. Both of them seem to acknowledge but ignore(not exactly the right word, but I can't think of a better one) the darkness underneat...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

One of the main reasons I want to see more Twin Peaks, and this was also the reason I wanted to see more before Season 3, is simply because I want to see more cinematic work by Lynch Ditto. That it was Twin Peaks that came back was just a bonus for me, as I had never ever considered that it would e...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

However, I have my fingers crossed that it’s Ronnie Rocket (especially since Netflix just did the improbable and finally got Orson Welles’s The Other Side of the Wind edited and released). That would be pretty wonderful. Keen to check out Other Side of the Wind too. Not to derail, but it deserves i...

Should be interesting. While I'm against such things in general, I'm very curious about anything Twin Peaks related at this point and recognize the effort you've made.

Re: Black Lodge/White Lodge mythology

I am just rewatching TR in its entirety and it didn't strike me on the first viewing, but I now just noticed a striking similarity between Jack Rabbit's Palace and the large rock in the big sea that Cooper falls down onto. Anyone else thought of that? :) Yes, I definitely think Jack Rabbits Palace ...

Re: Twin peaks: Nostalgia Fanedit

Yup I like the lighting and colour better in The Return. The edit seems a little oversaturated and kind of blackened. To try and emulate the look of film for The Return, to me that's kind of missing the point of the medium in which it was made. The show and it's story tap into digital as like a liv...

Re: Twin peaks: Nostalgia Fanedit

A interesting project, I'll certainly keep an eye on this. But that clip reminded me again of the major issue here: Neither Ben nor Jerry play any role in the plot. I can't think of an editing solution that would change that. I would say giving Truman the key that Cooper needs, Ben hearing the hum,...
