Re: What Other Directors/Actors Think of Season 3

Jim Jarmusch: "But I think the masterpiece that took the last few years in American cinema is really Twin Peaks: The Return. Eighteen hours of incomprehensible T.V. It wasn’t easy for him, and, by the way, no one will finance David Lynch’s feature films — so, what the fuck, I don’t get it. Tha...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Not to derail things, but I just want to note for Earle and Strawberry that HBO released the long-awaited Deadwood movie on their platforms last Friday, just in case you weren’t aware! The Deadwood movie took an approach that many (not all) of the Profoundly Disappointed would probably have liked T...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Oh, don't worry, I haven't conducted a survey or collected any kind of empirical data. It's just a general gut impression I get when pouring over the Internet in search of what's being said about the show in the media, on various websites, fan forums, comments and message boards etc. I can very wel...

Re: Lynch Telling off his crew

Can you imagine trying to film hundreds and hundreds of takes, and giving 100% of your focus to achieving a specific vision, while your crew hounds you about how long they are? It's unthinkable. The writers have crafted something that needs to be captured on film, the director is overseeing that pr...

Re: Lynch Telling off his crew

There's something odd about those sheriff's scenes for sure, but I think the pacing of them is what makes them good...because they're not simply successful at comedy, and in fact downright confusing at comedy at times. Is this working, or is it not? Is it stupid, or is it something else entirely? It...

Re: Lynch Telling off his crew

I love this moment in the documentary, and not just for its candidness. From this clip I think it's pretty clear that Lynch's crew had frequently expressed concern about all the long and slow takes, and here we see him respond/snap about it.

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

The “narcissist” comment was in response to someone else’s tweet about Frost’s favorite political target who will remain nameless here. He was comparing an experience in his past to current events. There’s no way it was about Lynch, he would never say that he worked for Lynch. And, again, in terms ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I agree with those of us who are saying it's not an accident that Frost unfollowed Lynch on Twitter. He did so deliberately. And let's be honest, he knows Twin Peaks fans online keep an eye out like hawks so I doubt it didn't occur to Frost that we'd probably notice. My bet is either an unpleasant ...

Re: RIP Peggy Lipton

It's very sad, and for me, unexpected. So youthful. Thinking strictly in terms of Twin Peaks - both The Return as well as the possibility of future seasons - I'm left with a sinking feeling. With so many performers passing away within the past three or four years, not only is there cosmic significan...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

There has been a lot of speculation regarding her purpose, and it is a major part of many theories that have to do with The Return...a major part of mine, at least. That it dives into the "real" world at the end, and increasingly throughout. It's one of the many layers, for sure, that tie...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Not to mention the real-world rationale for Gordon’s name being the thing that wakes Cooper up from his Dougie-slumber. That’s several layers of meta all on its own (referencing early TP’s penchant for using names from classic noir films and Lynch’s love for the film Sunset Boulevard; Gordon’s sign...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Also does anyone think using the real owners of the house means anything to the story? I don't think so. I think Lynch cast her because he thought she'd be right for it when he met her, that's all. And she was, wasn't she? There has been a lot of speculation regarding her purpose, and it is a major...

Re: 'Russian Doll' Makes Me Appreciate S3 More (Spoilers for RD)

so, there are a couple of strange repeats and inconsistencies? ditto for the original series. again, time travel is confirmed, but I don't see a clear loop, just repetition with variations, based on changes made. but thanks for answering my question! I suppose there's not a "clear" loop, ...

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

Also all the more baffling that such open access was given to shooting at the Palmer house for the final scene of the entire piece. Yeah, I don't know who the people were from the public who were allowed to watch that scene being filmed, but it seems that they would have wanted an absolute clampdow...

Re: 'Russian Doll' Makes Me Appreciate S3 More (Spoilers for RD)

I don't really even know what "Russian Doll" is (I don't watch any shows off the internet), but I also am annoyed when things are too tidy. However, what has annoyed me somewhat when reading "interpretations" of S3 or the whole of "TP" is that so many fans strive to do...
