Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

I'd be curious to know how much of a subsidy Season 3 received. From Washington...and France.

Re: Twin Peaks: The Complete Television Collection (Paramount) 10/15/19

To me, the opening credits were pretty important. They kept Laura present in our minds and reminded us that Leland had told Coop to 'Find Laura'.

Re: Twin Peaks: The Complete Television Collection (Paramount) 10/15/19

Honestly, I've never understood the appeal of audio commentary. Especially on a Lynch film. But, to each their own, I guess. That could be great. Off topic a little, but I also don't understand the appeal of having multiple cuts of the same film. I am glad Lynch has never felt the need to release e...

Re: Special Effects in Season 3

No. The young Rachel used a different, way more intricate technique. They filmed a younger double, and then largely replaced her with 3D CGI using old footage of Sean Young for lighting and texture reference. In this sense, the young Rachel is more akin to how they revived Silva for TPTR. For Laura...

Re: Tarantino criticism

Was it just me, or did the coffee scene in Pulp Fiction "The Bonnie Situation" seem heavily influenced by Twin Peaks?

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

This isn’t much of anything, but in a recent interview themed around the concept of “home,” the reporter tries to get Lynch to open up about the end of P18, and he echoes something similar to what he has said before: “That’s how it ends.” As with the old quote, I think he’s pretty clearly just sayi...

Re: Tarantino criticism

Whether one thinks he's the best director of all time, or a two hit wonder (Reservoir and Pulp) who's parlayed initial success into puffing up his reputation beyond what it deserves, I think most of us agree it's in poor taste for Tarantino to boost his own standing by attempting to disparage the wo...

Re: Special Effects in Season 3

I can't imagine that the SFX choices had anything to do with budget personally. The super-realistic, feature-length effects cost a lot but your standard head explosion is really easy to do adequately – if realism is what you're going for – on a budget (or so I'm informed). I just think realism in t...

Special Effects in Season 3

This is partially in response to a Twitter post, but also I don't think we've had an entire thread devoted to Season 3's special effects. Here's my view: there were some really good effects, some very 'good in a Terry Gilliam kind of way' effects, and some pretty bad, cheesy effects in Season 3/The ...

Re: Tarantino criticism

I just got back from "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood". After Fire Walk With Me premiered, the then hot shot new kid on the block had this to say about the film and Lynch: "“David Lynch had disappeared so far up his own ass that I have no desire to see another David Lynch movie until I...

I think we all suspected this was coming at some point. Not sure if there's any extra that could get me to buy it.

Re: Part 8: reference to 2001?

The Stargate comparison was pretty obvious from the beginning, but that's the only part that reminded me of 2001. Much of the rest reminded me of old '50s monster movies. Edit: I should add that no piece of work is truly 100% original. All film is influenced by films the filmmaker has seen before. T...

Amazing, just amazing. To be honest, this time was even better than two years ago.

Did you watch it with the family again? Any particular new insights/interpretations?

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

There's nothing wrong with disliking those ideas they had, but painting pulling together prior ideas that they may have been been mulling over as a negative has always seemed odd to me. That's not really the issue. The issue is the end result looks like the Twin Peaks name is just painted on to sec...

Re: The Random Season 3 Thread

Some things I've heard from a crew member about Peggy Lipton during the OS and FWWM. She hated the shoes that Lynch made her wear. They caused her great pain and she pleaded for something more comfortable. Lynch said no he liked the shoes. During the FWWM shoot she had an unheated trailer and said ...
