Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

So, here we are - almost 6 months after season 3 ended. I still haven't rewatched the show(Blue-Ray not arriving before the end of the month). The 2.5 years of waiting between Oct 14 and May 17 was an exceptional time - it was unreal - and after watching the teasers I had my hopes turned up to the ...

Re: Ray/Phillip Jeffries storyline

Don't put too much thought into it; Lynch didn't. None of it adds up, yet according to those who find no fault with the show, that is part of an amazing and bold anti-narrative. No, not this. It's just basic "plot shit" that was thrown on the page and screen with very little care or convi...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

There, that’s what I’ve been failing to articulate. And that’s my response to any TR fan who now comments here: would you still be saying that if the exact same show had been made by Tarantino? No, really. Some fans won’t be able to answer that honestly, or even allow themselves to ask it. Some mig...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

In fact we may have stumbled across a way of measuring precisely how much the cult of Lynch has blinded TR’s fanbase. While I think knowing something was directed by a certain director who one admires can and probably does influence one's take on the initial viewing, most of us have seen TPTR multi...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

A bit of an aside, but anyone who thought TPTR was too slow moving and who has a Netflix subscription should watch the SlowTV series from Norway- TPTR will seem like a hyper-warped video game by comparison and you'll be screaming for the guy sweeping the Roadhouse or Jacoby painting the gold shovels...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

There was nothing 'random' about sticking the fork in the electric socket. It was Cooper remember in he had come out of a socket, or subconsciously recognizing he needed to shock himself again in order to wake up fully.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

IMHO, there's no reason for antagonism on this or any other thread of dugpa, at least at this point now that the show is over . I think we should continue to have a productive discussion, whether you liked the show or not. All theories welcome, all viewpoints welcome but I think we can all do better...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I refuse to believe that anyone who is a fan of original Twin Peaks wasn't disappointed that out of 18 hours we got 15 minutes of Cooper being Cooper. There is no way that didn't let you down. Yes, absolutely that was a letdown, especially considering that when he comes back, he mostly interacts wi...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

No kidding! I think Cooper’s return to self should have been in the middle, and sorry I don’t think we really needed the Watts and Sunny Jim characters for his arc. It’s too crowded. And Audrey’s mirror should’ve also been in the middle, amping us up for the rest of the season with her saving herse...

Re: Kyle MacLachlan sounding far less optimistic about more Twin Peaks

He’s been asked before if he thinks Lynch and Frost might do another season of “Twin Peaks,” and MacLachlan says his comments that it’s possible have been a bit overplayed. “I don’t think so,” MacLachlan says of the prospect of more “Twin Peaks.” “I kind of take the line of ‘never say never,’” he a...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

No one is calling Harry Dean or Don Murray a fossil or a geezer (thankfully), so why is it necessary to call Fenn a hag? Can you see the double standard there? What possible value does that kind of discourse contribute? Such cheap barbs, far from acting as true criticism, merely discredit anything ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Most of the 'Profoundly Disappointed' have long since left this thread. I consider this now a thread for fruitful discussion of what worked and what didn't work for them in the new season.

Are there even any moderators left on dugpa.com anymore :-)?

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

MT, re Engels I was talking dialogue. I know there was no way anyone else but Lynch and Frost would have story say.. And whoops, I actually meant Harley Peyton! I just feel he writes effortless dialogue for some of these characters. There's a musicality and a rhythm that I feel Lynch and Frost don'...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Oh, and that they needed Engels on script duty. Just curious, in what sense do you think Engels would have helped? In terms of dialogue or overall story? Wasn't one of the chief complaints of FWWM that Frost was not more involved and had no input on the script? In my opinion, Lynch is probably the ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

sorry i was in my cups last night.... basically, can't we keep it to analyzing the pros and cons of the art instead of the real life appearances of its performers? I concur. First of all, Dern and Fenn are gorgeous even today- and they probably still will be even until their 80s or 90s. But even if...
