Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

I’ve been waiting for a chance to joke about the nom de plume being “Judas Booth” (the only alias I’m aware of Lynch ever actually using, aside from Alan Smithee). Thanks for the opportunity. Music by 'Tractor' on the grandmother. I think that was a made-up thing, mostly for Alan Splet, t...

I wouldn't count on any late addition. Cannes prints really beautiful glossy catalogues and brochures that have to go to printing presses, people start trying to get tickets. Feature films aren't cheap. Even Inland Empire had backers. That whole machine want hype and publicity and some sort of retur...

Eraserhead he submitted to Cannes and couldn't get in. That was I believe in 1976 before he re-cut and trimmed it, and back before VHS/DVD screeners, so he had to show a 35mm print to a committee in NYC that rented a theater to look at american entries. I was at the Cannes Film Festival once in 1999...

social media and looking for followers is a bit like permanent high school. he mighta rushed out that guessing game tweet to get more followers. who knows. i've seen middle aged adults lose their minds why they don't have more following on twitter, and how come so and so is more popular.

Inland Empire premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 06 if I remember right, so if Inland Restoration played at Cannes, I guess technically it would be a Cannes Premiere for Inland Empire.

Also, it does have Laura Dern.

Technically, most films at Cannes are new / world premieres. Once in a while, they'll put something already out in theaters like Basic Instinct in competition for whatever reason, but another possibility is he just means there will be new films at Cannes, and he doesn't know whose films they are.

Laura Dern has several projects in development Duwayne Dunham's "The Happy Worker" features Amy Shiels - and David Lynch is executive producer "The Other Me" - David Lynch is executive producer I had no idea Laura Dern was in these, yeah these could be it. I believe 'The Happy W...

I think you can mess around with short films and pen names, and playing prankery. and with novels, Elena Ferrante etc , if you can carve out a niche for the pen name's style and their identity as an author and whatnot John Dillworth from Coruage the Cowardly Dog also did some joke animations under t...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

yeah, I read the joke is that he releasing a film under a nom de plume, Lavid Dynch. I believe Bill Plympton the animator, once made a satirical abstract animation under a nom de plume to make fun of abstract films he saw at animation festivals and viewed as pretentious, and he submitted it around t...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

Is it conceivable Dern could have a role in Spielberg's film with Lynch? Maybe they filmed together? Dern has connections to both of them obviously. It's the fact Variety literally called Lynch's role in Fabelmans as a secret that has me a bit suspicious. Definitely possible. The story Steven Spiel...

yeah, I hear ya enumbs. This past weekend, I read a whole bunch of Aftab's reviews , articles, interviews. They aren't too detailed film criticism wise, or anything too expansive journalism wise. They tend to be pretty brief pieces. At least what I saw. I listened to an interview with him on you tub...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

trivia factoid - Steven Spielberg's The Sugerland Express was in competition at Cannes in 1974 and it won a Best Screenplay prize. Maybe Spielberg feels like it's appropriate to 'come home' to Cannes to present this partial autobio work at this late stage in his career at a festival that helped laun...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this? Wisteria/Unrecorded Night? Something else? (Speculation thread.)

I think Afta said "guess again" after someone guessed Lynch, which made me think, oh it's not Lynch, but then it was. so I guess it's possible Lynch is being coy with "who knows. lets see" Other than Kaleem Afta, who else is saying there is a 'surprise' film at cannes ? DL does a...
