I just played it a little (https://emulatorgames.online/games/sega ... he-beast-2), great title screen music! Missed this one back in the day.

That would make my 'drifting off-topic' guilt far worse

Sure is odd re: the orb... For what it's worth, I remember seeing it when it first streamed in Australia (on Stan), so it's not just on the blu-ray/'official' version. Strange that it's not on the Paramount+ stream though.

Re: Trials and tribulations of being a writer

Great idea for a thread Stavrogyn. I don't want to derail it too much, but I've been a bit vexed lately about connecting with others via creative works. & I notice that tension between writing/creating for oneself vs for public consumption has come up in the above posts... I'm an art therapist, ...

Re: RIP Dean Stockwell

RIP. My first memories of him were from Quantum Leap, which I watched as a child. He has the kind of face/character that sticks too: I'd always notice him from then on whenever he popped up. 85 is not a bad innings either! I'm overdue for a Blue Velvet rewatch, this edges me closer... For now I'll j...

Looks like Tarantino is joining in. I guess you get something in this case though?
I'd never heard of NFTs before this thread.

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

Might be the strangest place I've run into a TP actor: Nae Yuuki (Naido in S3, Street Person #2 in Inland Empire) in BS Super Mario Collection, an obscure Mario game on an obscure satellite peripheral for the NES, in which she voice-acted the game's narration and appeared in sprite form as herself....

Safe (1995) with Julianne Moore, directed by Todd Haynes. I'm not even sure what prompted me to watch this, but I'm glad I did, even though I was left with a strange sense of unease and sadness afterwards. It's an incredibly and increasingly isolating film, and Moore is truly great in it. I'm not s...

Re: Part 17 - The past dictates the future (SPOILERS)

I was reading the other day about the trope of the elevated woman, this chivalrous tendency in certain medium-bending artists to deify an almost platonic concept of woman as a sort of sun in their work of which everything else orbits. The classic example of this is Dante and Beatrice though there a...

Just for the hell of it, here are all the ways Al Strobel has been credited: One-Armed Man (Pilot, E1, E2, E4) Phillip Michael Gerard (E8, E10, E15) No character name listed (promoted to Guest Star: E13, E14, E16) Philip Gerard (The One Armed Man) (FWWM) Phillip Gerard (P2, P3, P4, P6, P11, P16, P1...

Re: Part 17 - The past dictates the future (SPOILERS)

The labyrinthine plot feels very noirish. It reminds me of that classic story when they were adapting The Big Sleep to film and no one could figure out who murdered a chauffeur character. After hours of going through the book and trying to track the various plotlines and character motivations, they...

Re: Twin Peaks actors working together outside TP

The 1992 miniseries 'Intruders' is close , it has Warren Frost in it & Dana Ashbrook's sister Daphne Ashbrook. Not really worth mentioning I guess, but I started re-watching 'Intruders' again today (after being terrified as a child), & misremembered Mare Winningham's part as being played by ...
