Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Nice to have some action in this thread (my favourite of all threads :-D ) even if there are only tidbits to go on. There are so many factors against more TP that I am beginning to resign myself to never seeing more. The Conversations with Mark Frost book actually settled me a bit on the ending and ...

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

On a first viewing, I assumed that there was too. But on a second viewing, it really seemed that I was just watching normal Cooper, but a Cooper who is increasingly confused and anxious as he realises the gravity of the situation.

Re: Season 3, The First Draft - Speculation etc.

I'm sure I remember reading an interview with him where he said that his first idea for bringing the show back was Cooper materialising in the empty house in Las Vegas. I can't remember the source. My theory since then has been that Mark Frost wanted to focus partly on the US situation after the fin...

Re: Conversations With Mark Frost: Twin Peaks, Hill Street Blues, and the Education of a Writer

Yes, I enjoyed that too Mr Reindeer, and was then surprised at how open he was on various aspects. I think he feels safe talking about S2 (e.g. the dweller on the threshold) because he knows Lynch doesn't give a crap about season 2. By he became more reticent on S3. Even then, he couldn't resist giv...

Re: Conversations With Mark Frost: Twin Peaks, Hill Street Blues, and the Education of a Writer

He is really open about the mythology. I was hoping that, in the absence of a S4, Mark Frost would just tell us some stuff about what happened at some point. This is that book!

It is totally essential in my view. A superb job by David Bushman, whose questions are spot on.

Re: Conversations With Mark Frost: Twin Peaks, Hill Street Blues, and the Education of a Writer

Martin Short and Steve Martin are both so amazing that I imagine that the film would have been incredible. It would have been totally crazy and bombed at the box office though. :-D I stayed up way too late last night reading the section on S3. Don't start it unless you have time to read it in one se...

Re: Conversations With Mark Frost: Twin Peaks, Hill Street Blues, and the Education of a Writer

I'm over half way through now (I've read up to the section on his various obscure TV pilots in the late 90s/early 2000s). It is so good that I spent half an hour at work this morning reading it, because I couldn't put it down after my train journey! It is making me really want to seek out this obscu...

I just got this for my kindle (instant delivery and a much cheaper price finally won out over getting an expensive paper copy shipped to Oz).

Am very excited about reading and discussing it.

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I'd call The Elephant Man, Dune, The Straight Story and Twin Peaks S1 and S2 mainstream, though it depends on the definition. People sometimes forget that Lynch can and has told conventional stories in a conventional way.

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Information might be sufficiently scant that people are told certain things, then they interpolate, then they end up saying something else. Then it gets put together with other things and grows.

So it might be that all of these people have been honest in their own heads, but they end up disagreeing.

Re: Lynch's short "What Did Jack Do?" now on Netflix

I showed this to some work colleagues recently over lunch. They sat in an awkward silence for 17 minutes, then left without comment. Superb! I showed a few seconds of it to my parents a week later (just as we were queuing something up on Netflix), and they collapsed into laughter immediately. I gues...

Re: Joker

I only just saw this post! I agree with 100% of it. Don't get me wrong- I thought it was a well-made film, but it is utterly derivative. It really is just King of Comedy with the Joker in it. The way to get an acting Oscar is to either play a well-known historical figure, or play someone with manner...

Star Trek: Picard

Anyone else watching it? I saw some fans of TNG crop up in one of the recent TV show threads. It's slow and satisfying in my view. Lots of fan service (particularly in this weeks episode), and slightly cheesy in places, but both of these are consistent with the original show. It's actually not a bad...
