Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

:-D Great posts above about the relationship between recent Lynch works. I've been reading the Cahiers du Cinema Twin Peaks special recently, since I don't have time to start my epic rewatch. Reading is slow because my French is crap, but it's a great dissection of the show, and even more impressive...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Regarding the comment about Lynch being drunk on the critical success of Mulholland Drive, and stretching that out to 18 hours, I think that is the wrong way round. I think Mulholland Drive would have basically been Twin Peaks S3 (without the Twin Peaks characters). In fact, the Vegas parts of the s...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I have Out 1 sitting on my shelf (it was my Christmas present to myself), and I bought it precisely because I wanted to compare S3 to another great director having a go at a long format. To balance out the pretentious scale on my shelf, I bought the Police Academy boxset to go with it :-D (Rather un...

"It's funny that a year ago, we were completely in the dark about what we would be getting. A year later, most fans are still trying to figure out what we got."

So true! I love this statement.

Re: Why so little of Grace Zabriskie?

The more I dwell on it, the more I think that a huge part of the aesthetic and feel of the show was driven by the decision to have such a large cast, and to therefore only spend a short period with each actor. That precluded a show where a smaller cast interacts regularly, which would generate a mor...

Re: A Long Reflection...

A considered opinion, and one I respect. For my part, I wish I had managed to avoid the forum full stop during the run. This was the first time I have experienced a TV show through the lens of interactions with other people on the web, and I definitely changed the experience for me. I felt I had suc...

Re: the Missing Pieces

I just watched bits of the missing pieces for the first time after watching S3, and there is something I noticed in the convenience store scene that didn't strike me as significant before. Putting in a spoiler tag just in case. Laura's face gets superimposed on the convenience store at some poin...

Re: Movies to watch between episodes!

If you want to see the average of Hitchcock and Lynch, watch The Fourth Man: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086543/ One of the classic early Dutch films of Paul Verhoeven (yes, that Paul Verhoeven!), and based on the novel by Gerard Reve. Very funny, lots of symbolism (apparently added deliberately to...

Re: Kyle MacLachlan sounding far less optimistic about more Twin Peaks

Watching the bluray behind the scenes features really brought home what an epic project it was. I'm sure Lynch is positive because he'd love to continue the story, but I'm sure that is tempered by the knowledge of how much of his life it takes over. Of course, all we can do is speculate, but that is...

Re: Would you prefer more Twin Peaks or an original Lynch/Frost production

For me, season 3 was both of the things you mention. It was more Twin Peaks, but it was also an original story with totally new elements that they cooked up.

That tells me that Twin Peaks is flexible enough for them to go where they want, so hurry up and announce season 4!

Re: What Other Directors/Actors Think of Season 3

Regarding Star Wars, I never saw any of them until I was 16 (and I am certainly old enough to have seen them as a kid), and I therefore missed the magic window of becoming very attached to them. By the time I saw them, they were ok, but I'd put Flight of the Navigator above any of them! So that make...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

Sorry to hear that Mickey. I was lucky- I preordered on Amazon and got it shipped to Australia, but it took a while. The Final Dossier was crazy though- I had a long wait to get it. I checked out the Reddit thread on the bluray whilst waiting for delivery, but it was full of complaints about Amazon!...

Re: Cooper's conversation with The Fireman in episode 1 (linear and non-linear approaches)

I now really think that the conversation is that last thing (chronologically) that we see in the series. Cooper is very far away. He is asked to remember Richard and Linda from his past. i.e. this scene somehow shows us a future Cooper in peril being guided by the Fireman to get out of it.

oooh- glad I pre-ordred on a whim, assuming that Australia wouldn't get it for years.

Blurays aren't usually incompatible, so here's hoping I can actually play it!

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Lots of clickbait headlines are being generated from very scant information. The situation actually seems really clear to me- most involved are seriously tempted, but everyone is knackered from the massive effort involved in Season 3. I remain firmly in the camp that wants a Season 4, but am expecti...
