Re: Who is Alice Tremond?

I rather suspect they're spirits - they use both the names that the grandmother and grandson leeched off other people in the old show and movie, Tremond and Chalfont respectively. ...actually, come to think of it, going by their old M.O. they should've introduced themselves as the Palmers, right? I ...

Re: Is Audrey a tulpa?

"Look, Richard, these items belonged to your poor mother you've never known... her impressive collection of stunning knitwear... an earmarked copy of The scarlet letter... unopened math textbooks... a photo of that guy she crushed on for like two weeks..." I find it really hard to believe ...

Re: Is Audrey a tulpa?

I agree with you completely, if we’re taking TFD into account. And I have no doubt that the backstory from TFD was more or less Audrey’s original scripted arc (this has been confirmed by multiple sources). Ergo, in the original script, Audrey probably wasn’t a tulpa, at least not immediately follow...

Re: Is Audrey a tulpa?

Agreed with all your points, especially that in the grand scheme of things, tulpa or no tulpa we're still talking about $character and how they relate to their trauma. Diane's arc spells it out loud and clear. What I meant by the TFD connection is that her early days - which were likely co-plotted a...

Re: Is Audrey a tulpa?

Will saw Mr C get out of that hospital wing and he wasn't dragging around a comatose girl... TFD also chronicles a good chunk of Audrey's life and, from a doylist perspective, I think Mfrost would've handled things differently if he were talking about a tulpa. There's weird bits later on but the ear...

Re: Is Audrey a tulpa?

It couldn't have been consensual since the doppelganger was only in town for a few hours while she was very much in a coma. She wasn't taken anywhere, though? She remained in a coma and woke up a couple of weeks later.

Re: Classic! Great article on the Frost/Lynch relationship in Season 1 and more

Cool find, thanks! "The author is someone called Lynch-Frost. I can only describe it as a kind of Vulcan mind-meld." I knew that Kmac and Ferrer loved their Trek, Mfrost was a very likely candidate but this is the first reference I remember from him :) "'generally my internal pace is ...

As it were... Capture.PNG Jokes aside, I don't think there's anything that unequivocally jumps out to spell out the reasons and/or details of Coop's fuck-up. But that's the impending mood of that final scene (it's wrong wrong wrong , I get the chills even when I'm just flipping through it to get scr...

Re: Ray/Phillip Jeffries storyline

I still wonder why Hastings' secretary (Betty) would only give the coordinates to Ray. Did Ray and her have some prior relationship...? My take after pt17 is that she was also connected with the FBI, directly or indirectly, and tasked with keeping a close eye on Bill and his otherworldly shenanigan...

Anyone else in the "it's an intentional double entendre" camp? The way I see it, that conversation goes "You're losing your edge" / "Dude you're my right hand man and I've duped even you for 25 years, ya think?". Gordon follows up with an string of reveals that position...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

If you’d been defending TR’s tediousness after defending the video game stunt’s tediousness it might have been, but nope. Different context. Case 1: aspect of a work is considered tedious by many. I enjoy it, because I find stillness meaningful in that context, and happily defend it. Case 2: aspect...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I'm on record strenuously defending a puzzle in a video game where the solution is to stand still on a switch for twelve minutes and a half, is that cred enough? Same series, different installment, the thrilling end of a generational saga, the fate of an entire civilization is at stake... the mute f...

Re: Kyle MacLachlan sounding far less optimistic about more Twin Peaks

Having had time to digest the ending and to see how it holds up against the various claims both authors made about it, I think that Lynch's comments about his fascination with ongoing stories may be very relevant here. He wants to be able to keep thinking about a world and its characters. And they'v...
