Re: Emmy Nominations thread

Apart from all that waffle and shit-talking as you describe it, could it be The Return was not nominated as a Limited Series because it simply wasn't good enough? The Shit Talking was Part II, so you must be referring to Part I as The Waffle. Let me distill it for you: Twin Peaks went up against sh...

Re: Emmy Nominations thread

Okay, so Twin Peaks was not easy TV. It ruffled fan feathers and confused the hell out of everyone. Still, the fact that it's been given absolutely nothing might seem as confounding as its own story. That is, it's easy to feel that way at first blush. But consider for a moment how familiar the whol...

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome)

I wish I'd picked up on the light-heartedness in season 3 or that Dougie was just non-stop hilarity. He wasn't exactly the Marx Bros. Dougie was very melancholy. The whole season was damn bleak and that's what Lynch and Frost made it for a reason. Its just that they won't tell us why yet. It baffle...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

The digital was alarming at first, but I grew to love its subtlety, especially as I started to see still images that told me that the Showtime stream was not doing it justice. There's a crispness that fits this series, as though you can't escape reality or the world as it is, which this series pres...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

I just started my third rewatch of Season 3 and each time, it gets even better. I will say that I believe we've all been had. I think Season 4 has been planned all along. Maybe not definite, but at least sketched out. It's all been set up so perfectly to continue, I think. We've no idea what more w...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

Late Reg - yes, an interrogation of nostalgia is a great way of describing it. The Cahiers du Cinema interview with Lynch details how he says the season ends in the Hindu Iron age, which is not a good one overall, so yes its not a clearly happy ending. But there is still room for a continuation and ...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

Are we talking about the Welcome to Twin Peaks sign? If so, it seems like it was intentionally brushed past. A poignant reminder that this is not some nostalgia trip and that focusing on the past is not the way to move forward. You honestly thought that to yourself whilst watching that scene? Since...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

I was expecting more shots of the iconic Sign Board as it was featured heavily in the teasers, but all we got was a 1 sec scene :( We have seen it for 22 episodes, multiple times. I honestly think it would’ve served no purpose at all especially since it’s linked to one of the most iconic moments of ...

Re: What's next? What chance do think there is we will see a season 4?

You may well be right about international numbers. Did the Blu Ray sell well, though? A quick glimpse at this site seems like it only cracked the top 20 for one week (again, maybe it sold better overseas?). In the US, CBS completely screwed the pooch on the rollout, with way too few units produced....

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

Yes the footage they made in the Palmer house and around the town was prior to that contact between Showtime and the Palmer house owner. That cast included the daughter of the owner 'Mrs Tremond' and there seems to have been some reluctance to be involved anymore after Showtime had their say in matt...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

I don't think Lynch/Frost will ever let anyone who isn't them touch the property again, and that's fine. Since they're so possessive of their franchise (and I'm not denying them their right to be that way), it's really weird how they - and Showtime - apparently don't have any problems with certain ...
