Re: The biggest problem with The Return - the fear/mystery element largely missing?

Three years after the initial run, I had decided to rewatch the Return, and while Amazon had shipped my DVD set in March, it has not reached me yet in Europe, it is stuck somewhere in storage limbo, what an interesting time we live in! So my rewatch is on hold, but I am not giving up on it yet. I ag...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Having Desmond in the show could be entirely possible. Any of the Odessa aspects are a stretch for me as they're so specific to that world. Since the characters also are abstractions or alter-egos it all seems even more tenuous. I saw Dougie as Cooper's innocent dream-self. In terms of story and ch...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I have been thinking recently about TP and a potential S4, so here is a new post from me after a while, bearing the standard disclaimer that I think that about 20% of S3 is brilliant, and more importantly, that I am still a huge fan of TP overall. Speaking as an engineer, it is a combination of fact...

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

Bumping what I asked above. If the point of "My Prayer" playing is to link Cooper/Diane's sex magick ritual to the plot-specific events of 1956, what exactly are they trying to achieve? By opening the portal that allows the Woodsmen to enter, causing young (Sarah) to fall asleep, causing ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

It is about ideas. If they have a story for S4, they will go for it and some studio will support it financially, no doubt. So what is it? I think DKL once mentioned, well before S3 showed up on radar, that he had again fallen in love with the town and its inhabitants. It was an emotional attachment ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

In general, it could work either way, based on how historically TP music had been conceived. DKL did mention that he had wanted Angelo to come up with a genuinely sad song for the dinner scene in the Return, and that resulted in the Heartbreaking piece (too bad its up-tempo version was not included ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Au contraire. In a hypothetical scenario where something was being worked on, it is more likely that people who are about to compose the musical score would need to be brought in much earlier. I do find the photo intriguing nonetheless.

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Indeed, this time (if we get something, and it is not yet clear that we are getting anything at all), it would be hard to anticipate. Most common theme that has been out there is that Carrie and Richard go around trying to remember how to get back/out. I had thought S3 would show me something of wha...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Well, to be profoundly disappointed in something to me means that it must had been something you had cherished or valued dearly. Getting another season though would be great even if I were to end up disappointed again. :-D

Re: What would a Season 4 be about?

I'll stop at this post for now. Who are Carries Page's parents? If she was indeed born in Odessa in 60's or so, and Richard and Linda were there that night, it could have been them. And the whole thing then gets weird real fast.

Re: What would a Season 4 be about?

Could Odessa scene take place in 1967? Seemingly not, but actually yes I am going "actually no" on that one. The scene right after Cooper and Diane cross over and arrive at the hotel could be set in the 60's I think, but once he wakes up to the RIchard and Linda letter we are clearly very...

Re: What would a Season 4 be about?

Could Odessa scene take place in 1967? Seemingly not, but actually yes, and it is another clue what might be going on time-wise. The reason for it not taking place in 1967 is the age of Carrie Page, she was sent to incarnate as the result of 1947 nuclear test, so that would make her 20 in that scene...

Re: What would a Season 4 be about?

Alright, back to what season four could be about. We have been repeatedly told that we could not go back. The only option then is to press forward. Cooper spent roughly 12 parts in the Dougie Land (mythology-wise, this may also tie in to the Egyptian Book of the Dead), and he will now have to attemp...

Re: What would a Season 4 be about?

Outstanding information Mr. Strawberry. For no apparent reason, I went back to thinking about Richard and Linda. Knowing what happened between Dale and Diane, on the idea of anima and animus, or of the myth of Androgyne. Richard and Linda, two birds with one stone: Bird.png Linda left, Richard faile...
