Re: Season 3 Timeline (SPOILERS)

I may have had a breakthrough. I decided to cut through all the clutter and focus on the storylines that directly intersect: Mr. C's various shenanigans; the events in Buckhorn; the FBI investigation (Gordon, Albert, and Tammy's adventures); and the Twin Peaks Sheriff's Department's investigation in...

Re: Season 3 Timeline (SPOILERS)

Clearly time is deliberately ambiguous throughout The Return, and occasionally contradictory in irreconcilable ways (2:53 in the hospital in Vegas and then at the sheriffs station in Twin Peaks being the most obvious). I think this is absolutely part of the point, especially given the final question...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

Count me in! I never imagined the ending we got, but now that we have it, I can't imagine a more perfect one. seriously? you cant even conjure up anything in your personal imagination that can be better? nah, cant be I genuinely can't. This ending, to me, perfectly encapsulates who Cooper is and wh...

Re: S3: Biggest Disappointment About Unresolved Subplots?

That is a good wisdom counterpaul, thanks. Although i have to agree with BOB1 and Snailhead that the way you describe it to me works better than the way Lynch did. I feel so weird about these compliments because I feel like I'm just doing my best to try and describe what I saw. And doing only a pal...

Re: S3: Biggest Disappointment About Unresolved Subplots?

(...) Because cosmic battles aren't the point, and they never were. All the Really Important stuff being investigated by cops and Feds and military folks, all the codes to crack, and powerful mystic forces are the way in to the real stuff: the traumas that define us. (...) I wish I could agree with...

Re: S3: Biggest Disappointment About Unresolved Subplots?

I would argue that there's nothing sloppy about any of this. Lynch and Frost were obviously not interested in conventional "set up" and "pay off" style storytelling, but I think TPTR is all the better (and more coherent!) for it. It's all about thematic resonance. The Return was ...

Re: Poll: Would you like to see a 4th season happen? (SPOILERS PERMITTED)

At this very moment, I can't really imagine what it would be. This felt like a true ending to me. I mean, sure, there were tons of characters left dangling in all sorts of ways, and I'm sure there are absolutely wonderful stories Lynch and Frost could tell about them, but that's only part of the equ...

Re: FINAL POLL!!!!!!! Your Reaction to The Return as a Complete Work

Laura transcends but Coop cannot. Coop remains stuck, convinced that he can "solve" the past--illuminate its mysteries and repair its traumas. The final line, "what year is it," is so profound because Coop has spent most of his life sleepwalking through his present, missing the ...

Re: FINAL POLL!!!!!!! Your Reaction to The Return as a Complete Work

An unqualified masterpiece! I am in awe and, as a writer and filmmaker, I feel like I have so much to learn from this. I'm utterly in awe. I'm unsure at this point whether its ending does itself more justice as a self-contained story responding to an older work, or as the finale to that older work. ...

Re: How can we get a season 4? Cancel Showtime.

This is a really misguided idea. Showtime is interested in creating subscribers - loyal customers interested in the kind of content they produce. If "Twin Peaks" can help create that kind of subscribers then Showtime will want to keep the show around. If they see that the show only brings...

Re: What you want to see in the final two episodes.

I just want it to be something I never would have predicted but that feels totally, unavoidably inevitable in retrospect--you know: the ending of a David Lynch movie. In the last few weeks, life has gotten in the way of me spending much time on this board and I'm horribly behind on all the posts, bu...

Re: Season 3 Timeline (SPOILERS)

COOPER's texts to Diane definitely make it tricky to place his scenes. Other than that, I think everything is converging pretty clearly. Here's my latest best guess: TPTR CHRONOLOGICAL TIMELINE Flashback 01.01 "Hello, Agent Cooper. I'll see you again in 25 years. Meanwhile." DAY 1 (Thu, Se...

Re: Season 3 Timeline (SPOILERS)

Hockey Mask, one change I would make to Part 15 on your timeline is that I'm pretty sure that all the material with James and Freddie at The Roadhouse, them in jail, Margaret calling Hawk, and Hawk informing everyone of Margaret's death all take place on 10/1 (Day 11 on your timeline)--take a look a...

Re: Season 3 Timeline (SPOILERS)

Hockey Mask, one small correction/addition: With the last scenes in Part 13 set as Day 12, this reads like you're placing the events on Part 14 all on Day 12 as well, but they are clearly on Oct 1, which is Day 11 in your timeline. Thanks for keeping this up! Any thoughts on my alternate timeline ab...
