Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Much of the show was about the inability to return, to "go home again," so to "return to the return" doesn't really make sense. Shows the brilliance of Lynch. He made the series lackluster on purpose to highlight the point that 'you can never go back'. And stretching it out over...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I truly hope that many of you are able to return to the return in a few years with fresh eyes and open minds. I think that's both quite nice and slightly condescending at the same time, which is an interesting combination. It's really no different than heading to the "profoundly satisfied"...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

There won't be a season four. There is a story to tell but the way I see it, it's too raw to go back to anytime soon. Ironically it needs another 25 year gap lol. There wont be a season four because there is no financial foundation for it. Unless we all start crowd funding. That's the only way it c...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

From the latest Guardian article about the TR finale: "The point is, we were never supposed to understand. Life doesn’t tie up." Give me a break. . Exactly. Like I said in another post, you can give a glowing review of the worst Adam Sandler movie using that exact line of argument. "...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Those who wanted "super hero Coop" got it at Judy's diner. That was one of the most rewarding scenes of the entire movie. Sadly you may be right. At least about being one of the most rewarding scenes of The Return. But that says more about The Return than it does about that scene. It was ...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Amen and thank God. I am so glad that it was some hokey green glove super hero who "defeated the villain" (probably a veiled joke on us and Hollywood) rather than Coop. Bringing back classic Cooper one week before the finale, after a 16 hour frustrating wait, only to completely ignore him...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

What can I say? Watching not only series 3, but the entire previous two series' comprehensively trashed by the finale has left me feeling - and I'm not exaggerating - utterly sickened. That blood-freezing scream at the end underlined that we have willingly subjected ourselves not to a dream, but an...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

You're right, and while I'm still mulling this show over, I don't quite know why what you describe is a bad thing. What makes sense, ever? When do we as humans ever get answers? Maybe our world really is controlled by a giant and a fat lady, or by some humanoid rabbits. Well, it's possible to defen...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Frankly, I don't think anyone had a decent idea about how to continue the story and they made it up as they went along. . That is fairly obvious. I like how, when I would complain about aaaaaaall the slow dragging scenes of this season, and all the Jacoby infowars repeats, people would go "Jus...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Face it: if someone not named David Lynch had delivered this show, he'd have been fired, the show recut by the executives and the director blacklisted for wasting insane amounts of money. Not only that, but if this exact product had come out, and fans were told that it was directed by (insert name ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Curious to hear if this group would be in favour of S4 ? I'm personally torn. I just don't think a S4 is in the cards. Lynch isn't exactly prolific, and I think he probably dumped all his ideas into TR. Showtime president David Nevins said that, although another season wasn't out of the question, h...

Re: The visual aesthetic of the new Twin Peaks

Yeah, when it comes down to it, I think the source of my mixed feelings about the show are that it just doesn't look that great most of the time. My gripes with certain stories and scenes would probably not be much of an issue if it looked better. There are many exceptions - Part 8 looks fabulous, ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

This thread has been notably harsh on Lynch - Frost less so. True. I think in general, Lynch gets 99 % of the praise as well. When I watch reviews, they pretty much assume that everything, every part of the writing is Lynch. Same with the criticism, it's directed at Lynch. And of course that's wron...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

As a viewer I found the episode trite and excessively twee. When Cooper awoke so abruptly and adopted the Super Coop persona (all he needed was a cape), it actually felt like the entire scene was taking the piss, hollow and fake. Like it was being played for laughs and it was intentionally badly do...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Here's my last bit on this. Those who say "it's bad" got their use of language wrong. It's rather "i don't like it" because it's a matter of taste after all. . But are you then honest enough to also jump on people who happen to use the phrase "That was great"? If peopl...
