Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

but last season of GoT was mini movies, they were like 70-75 min episodes. Mini-movies were promised, but weren't these episodes just 5 minutes or so longer on average than the average from earlier seasons? (That's why I prefer 25 episodes (which was mentioned somewhere) over 13 movies/mini-movies....

With one necessary exception - Mark Frost.

What do you mean? I like Frost a lot. I think he is easier to get along with than Lynch for that matter.

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

You are right - the explanations are way too long - the video is over 4 hours! Why is that (necessarily) too long? If you enjoy something, more is usually better no? There is 18 hours of The Return, would we prefer 20 minutes? Moreover, TwinPerfect is not verbose at all. On the contrary. I tried ma...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

It's a little more complicated, because Frost was referring to what he'd heard about the movie and the pilot, but he hadn't seen either one . This was posted in a thread here back in 2012: Luke: "Did you understand what David Lynch's Mulholland Drive was all about?" Mark: "It started...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

@Enumbs: First, my contributions were in reaction to those of others. I didn't initiate anything. Second, they were much more on-topic in the sense that they were directly connected to the subjects of art and this show that were all excited about. Still, I apologize if others didn't like my contribu...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Frost not being involved makes me even more hyped for the new season. I don't think Frost's vision is particularly interesting (generally speaking, that is). And more importantly, I just don't believe in shared leadership (especially concerning art). For me it was very obvious all these years that L...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

Good grief. This thread has been hijacked. Full stop. Can we shut it down and please take the political convo elsewhere? Well, in all fairness, these political forces are aiming to take over the world (including our beloved shows and directors). So, it is definitely not (completely) off-topic. We l...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I’d like to also point out that Arya did not kill the Night King because it was a “feminist” or “woke” choice. She killed the Night King because she was a fan favourite character, because it was deemed a surprising twist, and because Arya did not have any other major moments in the final half seaso...

Sorry Jack, didn't mean to be a prick. This stuff just really makes me very sad and emotional.

[quote="LateReg"]This is very well put.

Agreed.

Just as you explain very nicely how artistic purity and societal considerations do not mix.

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

During the whole of his career as a film director - we are talking about around 50 films from a director very much focused on intellectual urban circles, jazz music, etc. - he has used so few African-American or any non-white actors that it has to make you wonder a bit. However, I highly doubt he i...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

@Reindeer: we know that this desire to include people of colour and promote diversity doesn't come naturally for Lynch. He is influenced by his environment. And not just a random environment, but the respectable opinions that are taught be decent people from decent outlets such as Eastcoast Universi...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I can get very emotional about this. To think that Lynch really starts believing that he has to "improve" and correct the mistakes from Jade/Asian prostitute from IE, and that he deliberately includes a role for a minority that is also empowering and not stereotypical...... the thought is ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

It would be fantastic if Lynch gave more roles of depth and prominence to people of color in whatever he is doing next. It doesnt have to be all out PC, but Jade the prostitute, the comic relief cop in the Las Vegas scenes is a little minstrel-y, the homeless woman in Inland Empire, and so on, ther...

Re: Twin Peaks Actually Explained (Youtube)

Yes, I understand that this guy is very annoying to a lot of people. But the messenger should be separated 100% from the message. Even if we completely discard the claim that the television-angle is the crucial one and that he has found the ultimate key, he still provides so, many, many, many intere...
