Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Most of the theorizing on Carrie Page's name has focused on the surname and possible significance re: the missing diary page. However, it just occurred to me that the first name is very interesting in light of L/F's playful habit of using character names to allude to famous film works (including La...

Re: Poll: Would you like to see a 4th season happen? (SPOILERS PERMITTED)

If Lynch has a compelling story to tell, yes. I really imagine Lynch has learned a lot from having to film and then edit and 18 hours piece of work, and if given another go it would be a much improved work. If he has both story ideas and visual ideas, yes please.

Works That Influenced Twin Peaks: The Return

I think it would be neat to have a thread for discussion of works that members think may have influenced Twin Peaks: The Return, perhaps in particular things have come out in the 25 years since Lynch and Frost worked on Twin Peaks. The idea for this thread is inspired by its deliberate homages (for ...

Re: Reconciling the ending of FWWM with the ending of The Return

My interpretation of ending is that Coop, perhaps across many timelines (or worlds or whichever) is trying to save Laura. He thinks saving her means preventing her death, for he can't come to terms with the idea that her life was what she needed saving from, not her death. Thus, every time he tries...

Re: Poll: Choose Your Top 5 Hours/Parts of TPTR

Having only seen it once and going off memory: 1) Part 18. A finale worthy of Twin Peaks and Lynch's filmography - mysterious, disorienting and chilling, and the thing that will keep us talking about Twin Peaks for decades (if its over). I also loved Part 17, except for the Freddie/Bob fight, which ...

Viewer misinterprets show. Viewer gets furious at their own misinterpretation. :)

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

From my point of view, its super strange that people think the main flaw in the show is Lynch's digressions. To me it seems that any problems are with the main script, and the digressions are actually the best bit (the hit n run, Bobby/Shelly at the diner with the sick boy, Sarah Palmer's scenes ......

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

The other mess has to do with Freddie. I feel that whole character has to have some other meaning behind it, because him defeating Bob by punching him is so awful and basically offensive to the original Twin Peaks storyline. People have said its a commentary on Superhero films/shows, but the origin...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

The interpretations that make all the sense (to me) are the ones painting the Finale as a journey showing Dale's flaws and failures, of an inability to save Laura no matter how hard he tries. So then you are with the variety interpretation (likely posted before, sorry) Im not into that interpretati...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Most of the interpretations that paint the Finale as Dale's heroic and fantastical journey to defeat Judy feel completely off base. With Lynch, always pay attention to the mood - this is not a happy or heroic ending. The interpretations that make all the sense (to me) are the ones painting the Final...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

new observation: anyone else think that sarah/whatever is possessing her smashing laura's picture might have actually caused laura to disappear from dale's grip / scream in the woods? the way the sequence of events is presented to us is 1. dale intervenes and pulls her out of her original timeline ...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Having sat with it for a couple of days, my thoughts on the finale: The first half of Part 17 I was captured by, but also deeply worried about. The scene of Green Glove Freddie fighting Bob Blob physically hurt my heart. I was terrified that heart of Twin Peaks was somehow completely lost. The latte...

Re: Part 15 - There's some fear in letting go (SPOILERS)

The dude found out his mate had super strength that could hospitalise someone, entered the roadhouse with him, went immediately over to the table where Renee was sitting with her husband and friends, talked to her, her husband revealed that there'd already been history between them and James had be...

Re: Part 15 - There's some fear in letting go (SPOILERS)

Posters who read ill intentions into James and Renee at the Roadhouse are just way off the mark IMO. He seems to have a grade school like crush on Renee and isn't inherently trying to "make a move" but is simply more comfortable admiring her from afar (like in part 2, where Hannah says he...
