Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Seriously, how clueless can you be???? Ah, well, at least it'll keep me LOL-ing throughout the night, that's fo' sure! :D thats pretty condescending. I think he asked a valid question about how you would be satisfied, what kind of S3 would you rather have? When I browse through this thread where pe...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

how on earth did people make it through twin peaks as it was up til now just to be disappointed in this? this was twin peaks 2017, I don't know what people expected. it's never going to cease to amaze me all the "fans" who after 25 years just turned into the modern versions of the people ...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

The happy ending for Laura was the ending of FWWM which Lynch has seemingly retconned to hell. I feel like the FWWM ending is still possible for Coop and DIane. If FWWM is the conclusion of their journey, then the ending of The Return is the beginning or middle of the journey. Maybe we are just see...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

I would kill for a final, happier ending for Laura, at least (I do not, at this point, expect her to come back to life). And to get confirmation that folks like Audrey, Shelly and Bobby turned out okay. But I don't think Cooper will ever come back from this even if the show returns. I think one way...

Re: Part 15 - There's some fear in letting go (SPOILERS)

Telling someone to trust "the masters" while essentially saying they just don't get it is far more condescending. Yes, if someone were to say that it would be condescending. I never said anything like that though. I said I am keeping an open mind because I am giving DL/MF the benefit of t...

Re: Part 15 - There's some fear in letting go (SPOILERS)

Oh please. Give me a break. Why should I? Because you're being condescending. A "colossal exercise in pretension." If you've enjoyed it then in what way to you consider it pretentious, assuming of course a no-name writer/director had created it? How many great authors and directors are co...

Re: Part 15 - There's some fear in letting go (SPOILERS)

Weak characterizations I agree with, and I love it. Poor narrative choices? I'll be pondering that for a while, but I wouldn't ponder it at all if I thought they were poor. These are two undisputed (if you are on this forum anyway) masters at work, so I give them the benefit of the doubt. As Terry ...

Re: Part 15 - There's some fear in letting go (SPOILERS)

there's been a lot of poor narrative choices made and a lot of weak characterisation. Weak characterizations I agree with, and I love it. Poor narrative choices? Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

Wow, so this was the extra-special "extreme violence against women" episode? Maybe I was just in the wrong mood, but I have to confess that I had a pretty strong gag reflex to almost everything this week. This is the first time I've felt like walking away and not looking back. :( This is ...

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)

So, finally, what DID happen on August 5, 1956? This Google search led nowhere: "August 5, 1956" "New Mexico" But when I added "UFO" to that search, ... I got this page with references to Devil's Gate in LA, Native Americans, portals, negative energy, Jack Parsons (fou...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I mean yeah you can read into it all as completely metaphorical but I think you're grasping if you think there isn't a narrative that runs through the Lodge mythology. Especially now with this new season -- there is indeed autonomous spirits at work. Of course their story is told through visual and...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I'm not sold on how it aims to explain BOB and The Black Lodge... Besides defanging BOB as vomit from a burping demon, there's also the creation of The Lodge... Besides this, I didn't care much for Laura being a golden orb sent down specifically to counteract BOB in some universal battle... I have ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I think this is the right thread to post this in. I should preface by saying I'm actually really enjoying The Return and don't count myself among those disappointed. However, I gotta talk about Part 8. I liked it -- it's obviously very visually arresting and wonderfully cold -- but I'm not sold on h...

Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)

I'm confused by some of the conclusions people jump to... not every character has to be related or connected, and if they were, it would be a terrible show - Doc Hayward just said "I thought at the time he might've been there to visit Audrey Horne" - I certainly didn't infer from this tha...
