Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

I just watched "The Resident" on Fox tonight. There were two original series actors in the episode: Kathleen Wilhoite and Dana Ashbrook! No scenes together though. This is a phenomenon I have come across again and again -- multiple Lynch and/or "TP" actors in the same project/sh...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

In blowing up the structure of something like Mulholland Drive to an 18 hour film/series that perhaps goes some way in fulfilling the original idea behind Mulholland Drive I consider very radical. Lynch returning to the pacing of Eraserhead and plastering it throughout all 18 hours of The Return is...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

To me, there’s wonderful directing and flourishes. There’s almost nothing but talented actors and performers in this overcrowded landscape. But for me, nothing to latch onto. Everything seems like a setup with no pay off. And I know most will respond to that statement of wanting things to be explai...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Same here a few weeks ago. I had mf signed secret history, secret diaries (3x, signed) all the rare and huge foreign posters for fwwm, press kits, handbills, a dL/Charlotte and jack nance’s “ghost” signed EH poster, star pics cards, the dale books, the board game, cd’s, cassettes, all of the Lynch ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

My reaction’s been more straightforward: last weekend, I took my complete Twin Peaks Blu-Ray box set, my David Lynch movie Blu-ray set, the Secret History, Secret Diary and My Life, My Tapes books and Crazy Clown Time CD to my local charity shop. The new show ended my decades-long affection for Dav...

Re: No Ray Wise?

I think that Wise could have been used a bit more than he was without it seeming they were showcasing him just because he was so popular on the original. Things could have gone any number of ways as far as bringing him in more than saying just two words and looking like he is holding in a fart. He c...

Re: What's next? What chance do think there is we will see a season 4?

I don't believe the show will or should come back, but if it does, it MUST be the same set-up as this time with Lynch directing and at least co-scripting the whole deal, complete control, all that. Whether an additional writer or two is brought on is a secondary consideration. Having any other set-u...

Re: What's your favourite scene from The Return?

I like the sick girl scene too, but feel it would have benefitted from just about anybody else attending on it aside from Ashbrook. He didn't belong. Andy or Hawk would have been preferable. The scene, like many in the series, felt like a nugget Lynch had in a drawer somewhere and decided to fish ou...

Re: Poll: Worst Roadhouse performance

I can't believe ten people said NIN was the worst. It's not a great song by any means, and the staging wasn't very good, but Trent's the best artist on that list above, by a wide margin.

Re: What's your favourite scene from The Return?

If I had to pick one main favorite, it would be the Woodsman's poem. That introduced a welcome sense of horror to the series which needed it at that point, but overall was too lacking in it. I can't say something positive about the show without bringing in a negative, which is that while that scene ...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

I thought the conclusion was that there is only one packaging option. I’ve only ever seen the one, and that’s what everyone seems to have gotten. Not sure where the references to multiple packaging options came from. I've found definite mention of a cheaper slipcase version that came out after the ...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

I've gotten around to looking at ordering options for this online (Blu-ray), as I cannot find it in any store. I'm finding people mentioning that it has a deluxe packaging and a regular packaging. It looks like the deluxe packaging is the one that pulls apart to reveal Dougie, all cardboard. What's ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

"Fire Walk With Me" has Cooper - on several planes of reality, trying to save Laura Palmer. That's a bit of a stretch in how it could relate to this show. This show itself gives no specific foreshadowing that trying to save Laura is Cooper's primary purpose; only after the fact do you rea...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I haven't yet read "The Final Dossier" (so don't spoil it please, but I don't have high hopes because of the last book), nor have I rewatched the final two parts in full. However, whether one calls it time travel or believes it was a failed attempt, the idea actually to save Laura comes ou...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

You found the ending of part 17 to be a nadir? Why? I really liked the whole last part of that episode. How can you question that someone would dislike that very controversial episode which ends with Cooper pulling a ridiculous, out-of-left-field "Back to the Future" move and apparently u...
