Re: TPTR and the Mythology of Twin Peaks

The introduction of Tulpas was a strange decision. It muddied the clear and thematically appropriate concept of doppelgangers and the relationship between the two was never explored in a satisfying way. Mr C.'s story is hinged on his manipulation of the Black Lodge "rules," but we are neve...

Re: Poll: Do You Understand Now Why S.F. was pissed about her role in The Return?

Lynch did give her "Audrey's Dance" I thought that was a great spotlight and tribute for the character and actress. I didn't read it that way at all. I felt very heavy during that scene - the closest I can come to describing it is a feeling of dread. It was the moment when it became abund...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

The joy of not getting answers is that we can theorize for years to come. Yes, we can theorize about things like maybe Audrey is actually hiking in the arctic and just had a nightmare, which is why her background is white when she looks in the mirror. Or we can speculate that Mr. C is actually look...

Re: Who's holding Freddie down?

Nice catch! Makes me wonder if Bob orb was a plan B - maybe they originally planned to superimpose his head onto someone for the fight... Now I'm imagining what that would have to look like in order for Bob orb to be an improvement :P

Re: TP:TR Soundtrack released- Listen to the sounds musing

"The Fireman" is godlike. It really, really is. I'm going to give the whole thing another full listen the moment I get a chance. I'm actually amazed at how much I didn't consciously pick up on when I was watching - most likely a side effect of being so enamored with the visuals and watchi...

Re: TP:TR Soundtrack released- Listen to the sounds musing

The synth pad sound used has the same sort of soothing harmonic qualities. As I dabble (very much on an amateur level) with synth myself, I'd love to know more about the exact rig used to play this theme and how the basic synth patch is set up. I'm no professional, but creating organic ambient/dron...

Re: Mark Frost's Contributions to TP:TR (Speculation)

I dont know if It is relevant but Sabrina Sutherland wrote on Reddit that when Frost started to write his book, Lynch did keep writing on the show and all 'big scenes' wrote by Lynch separately were sent to Mark so he could see them on paper. I wonder what those big scenes are which were written on...

Re: Sabrina Sutherland Reddit AMA on Sun., Sep 10 @ 3PM PT

I'm going to dig into the Reddit thread now but if any kind soul is willing to compile her answers in a post here it would be much appreciated. Call me old fashioned but I find large comment threads on Reddit damn near impenetrable once they reach a certain size due to the way they sort and hide con...

Re: Mark Frost's Contributions to TP:TR (Speculation)

If there's one thing I think we can all agree on is that The Return is something that neither Lynch nor Frost could have done on their own. I think that's one pretty strong indication of a successful collaboration (regardless of how we might feel about the work itself). I don't mean to stifle conver...

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?

It's still too soon for me to commit, because TP, FWWM, and TR each bring something unique and wonderful to the table that is Twin Peaks. Of course I'm inclined to lean more towards TR right now because it's new and I'm still totally obsessed by it, but one thing I can say for sure is that it's a m...

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?

I love the original series with all my heart but I think I prefer The Return as a "complete work," warts and all. One aspect of TR that doesn't get the recognition it deserves is its sense of humor. I'll admit that it's bone dry most of the time and occasionally irony drenched or even a bi...

Re: Lynch or Frost interviews re Season 3?

Frost I would guess would do some interviews to promote The Final Dossier and will probably not be dodging questions about the series. Though he may be dodging those about his own book - if it'll contain as much inconsistencies as the previous one did, that is. Ya know, he'll be givin' the kinda an...

Re: RE: Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I don't know about Frost's upcoming book. TSHOTP was a grand disappointment to me. It went on and on about Lewis and Clark, Crowley, and Owl-like men, and most of the book was actually about Douglas Milford's adventures investigating UFOs! Twin Peaks got the short end of the stick. I think Frost is...
