Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Well, Cooper brings them to TP. I am pretty sure that in an alternate universe (“TP Season 5: The return of the Return of those gone after they returned yet never left”) they transformed TP from a small town to a metropolis! The question is, in the rewritten timeline, did the mill ever get torched?...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
A couple of months on and i'm still profoundly disappointed, but mainly by other things than TP:TR now. Some of the things out of the new book actually seem kinda cool from the i've read, wish they'd put those in the series more!

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Yes! And why didn't we get at least one scene of Annie if hypothetically she had an insanely great line in the book? Seems like a missed opportunity! I think I would have preferred that over the 911 lady. Makes me wonder if Frost added to the book after filming the series had already ended.

Re: Works That Influenced Twin Peaks: The Return
I watched 'Suicide Club' and 'Noriko's Dinner Table' yesterday and they're both great. I also think they might have influenced Lynch and/or Frost in what they were trying to do with 'The Return'. There's even a very explicit red balloons scene in Noriko (explicitly red balloons, not sexrelated or an...

I really enjoyed Meow (2017) if you're looking for a funny optimistic movie with also some romance and adventure.

Re: Works That Influenced Twin Peaks: The Return
I don't know why you're quoting me......... I know metamorphosis is a short story by Kafka, i actually read it in german. I also read The castle and The trial. But Kafka is also a movie from 1991 starring Jeremy Irons that mixes up Kafka's real lifestory with some of his fiction stories. And that's ...

Re: Works That Influenced Twin Peaks: The Return
I watched Kafka (1991) with Jeremy Irons the other day, and I wouldn't be surprised if Lynch was influenced by that a little. It reminded me of The Return anyway. Good movie!Mr. Jackpots wrote:Kafka. The Metamorphosis. .

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Looking back on it all, I think the plot and acting of the original Twin Peaks wasn't all that great either (to me anyway), in fact it was probably pretty average at best. But what elevated it to something great was: 1. the beautiful way they filmed it, with beautiful locations and a beautiful wardr...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
I think Frost is guilty of the same thing Lynch is with TPTR: Each basically used the brand name of TP to pursue their own obsessions and interests and sell it under the name of the only mass marketable product either of them was ever involved with. Whether they like it or not, TP is what they will...

Re: FINAL POLL!!!!!!! Your Reaction to The Return as a Complete Work
I can summarize my reaction to The Return as a Complete Work in two words: it sucked. If i had to elaborate i might add 'big time' to that evaluation.

Re: S3: Biggest Disappointment About Unresolved Subplots?
Actually you could replace Diane with Annie in this story and aside from a bit of FBI business it would arguably make more sense. Well, excatly! If Naido had become Annie/Heather Graham some of it at least sorta would have made sense/resolved, but Lynch obviously has a hardon for Laura Dern (sry) s...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Just imagine - you make a work whose very point is to antagonise an audience. Then the audience showers you with praise, calling every episode genius. How would you feel about that? How would you feel if you spit in someone's face and their reaction wasn't to punch you as hard as possible but lick ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
If this were true, why didn't he just write a popular, fan-service script? He could have written a more popular, more commercially viable script in 10% of his time-investment. You say that as if writing a commercially viable script that pleases the fans would be the easiest thing to do, but i disag...

Re: Recut of TPTR
I think you could recut a pretty convincing TP:TR II using scenes from Weekend at Bernie's I & II, The Room, Lost Highway and the Missing Pieces. Would be a fun project! Sadly I don't have any editing skills.
