Re: what now?

*** 'Click.' This is when the quantum jump into possession or madness is accomplished, when Nikki falls under the 'curse' and is trapped into living out Sue's sad life. Kingsley hears it and tries to find it's source, insisting it's something in the Line, not a car outside. The flashbulb 'click's a...

Re: what now?

The phantom seems to be an idea of Lynch's which seems, at first, to have nothing to do with the story of Nikki but which he dealt with by letting him in and following. I once knew some poets who talked about "Flubadub" always wanting into the poem and it seemed harmful to pretend that he ...

Re: what now?

during the first few seconds that LG is shown, there is a lamp, but no TV. only after a cut does the TV appear. I don't think so; I just looked again. The b/w scenes are of Woman #1. The last one we see of her is too close in to see if the lamp is there, but anyway we know it was from the previous ...

Re: what now?

In the first scene, with Man 1 and Woman 1, there is no TV but there is a lamp. In the scene with Lost Girl, there is a TV but no lamp. But the reflection of the lamp is there on her TV screen.

Re: what now?

The latest viewpoint with which I'm playing is that LG is a 'character' in 47 , not the lead actress; that the woman on the stairs was the Mustachioed Man's ( the male lead in 47 ) wife and was herself killed, as in OHIBT , by her intended victim( the first time, the cheated on, wronged wife is kil...

Re: what now?

I drop in here every once in a while to see if someone has said something, and if so, I usually give an answer, but then the thread blows away in the wind. The poster seems to have vanished. My view of what is going on in IE is fairly settled by now but I like seeing things other people have noticed...

Re: Axxon N and the cigarette burn

I agree, Jina. We've seen people build a whole theory around Nikki being unfaithful etc. I think, first, it doesn't really seem Lynch's intention to go preaching about people's morals etc., but also I think it paralyzes the story. Being unable to remember something that hasn't happened yet really se...

Re: Axxon N and the cigarette burn

V1 has been playing around with past, present, and future as elements of the film, so she could mean that from the point of view of Nikki, who doesn't even know that she got the part yet, she can't remember these things (the alleyway, the sign, the murder) because haven't happened yet. Yet there the...

Re: my Inland Empire film paper

then he sits down in the chair opposite Mr. K. before Dern's character does I'm not remembering clearly: someone was sitting with Mr. K before Dern's character--was this in MTTH? No, it happens immediately before Dern's character comes in and sits in the same chair. When the rabbit sits there, we d...

Re: my Inland Empire film paper

moscatomg: One thing you said caught my attention especially"”you are considering the possibility of a relationship between the rabbit who travels and the man who sells the watch in MTTH. I've never seen anything like that said. Usually the Majchrzak character is seen as the cause of everyone's...

Re: Possible IE dvd defect?

Mine is buggy. Sometimes it's this problem but an even bigger problem is that it won't start normally from the menu. It plays the FBI warning OK and then goes dead and I have to turn the player completely off then on again. Usually after no more than 6 tries it will come to a generic DVD screen from...

Not to seem irritable, but already 30 "views" and not one comment or reply? moscatomg: I've been away and I just saw this. And I may have to leave the comfort of my little computer chair again before I can take it all in. Also, there has not been much happening here for a while. So the 30...

Re: Axxon N and the cigarette burn

There seems to be two portals that connects the three plots of the movie, right? I'm not sure what you mean. Axxon N, the longest running radio show, seems to be the cursed story which is continuing. After we see Man 1 and Woman 1's version of it, Lost Girl winds up in it, in the same room, only th...

Re: hypnotized too?

A couple of things. The car and the red plastic cup in the scene in the woods indicate that this is not in the past that the dark Polish scenes are in (e.g. LG at the end in the snow). I'm not sure if this was in question, but just to add a thought. Also, I keep wondering why Lucas has a mustache in...

Re: Geography of Smithy's house

It's an improved version of the scheme of the Smithy's house. I'm not sure how to match the outside with the inside. Don't the circus performers exit and go back in to look for the toilet through a hallway that is right next to the bedroom? And the bedroom extends far beyond the wall where the kitc...
