Re: Understanding When the Dream Began Can Explain Twin Peaks: The Return

That's a great point about Lucy's issue with cell phones. I'll have to think about it, but this response makes a lot of sense.

Re: Understanding When the Dream Began Can Explain Twin Peaks: The Return

I don't mean to be pedantic and perhaps I'm just being dumb and don't understand: but if what we are seeing is a dream of someone in 1990, why is TPTR filled with technology including Skype and cell phones that Cooper could never have had any exposure to?

Sorry if I'm completely missing something.

Re: Theresa Banks, timelines, and more

I was excited about this, but I just re-watched Part 8 and this is absolutely not meaningfully visible there. Even on a big screen TV, this image is tiny. But more than that - we cut away from the scene while the orb is still moving towards its final destination. It may be the case that the last par...

Re: OLD PEAKS v NEW PEAKS. CHOOSE YOUR FATE.

As long as I get to have FWWM, I could bring 3 seasons of the Big Bang Theory and I'd still be fine.

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?

After a couple of full viewings, I'm in the camp of those who prefer The Return. But I'm also someone who, for the past 20-odd years has preferred Fire Walk With Me to the show. I'm fully aware that both attitudes are 1) completely subjective preferences and 2) probably impossible to truly gauge giv...

Electricity - It's in our house now

A not especially well-formulated thought that occurred to me (and has probably been mentioned elsewhere, though I couldn't find it): is there some connection between the Fireman's warning that "It is in our house now" and the treatment of electricity in The Return? This occurred to me whil...

Re: What Did Laura Whisper?

I think it's way more than a joke and homage. It being an unsolvable mystery is the point, and ties into the themes of the last two episodes. Exactly. I'm trying not to be argumentative or combative, but the cynicism that has infected some interpretations of TPTR on forums like this one is shocking...

Re: Annie and Dale

The inconsistencies and lack of continuity from episode to episode in the original (especially season 2) are constant. I think that's part of the reason why I don't understand this particular criticism of The Return. With that being said, I'm firmly in the camp of those who wanted Annie to get some ...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

From the critic and writer David Auerbach comes this interpretive theory and it's about the most thorough and best one I've seen. Should become the de facto one afaic. Seconded. Best I have heard yet. Agree. I'm sure I'll have a bunch of nitpicks, but on a first reading it's the best working theory...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

You've obviously made up your mind about us, untrue fans of The Master and His Work. As to the accusations of laziness: not bothering to get your facts straight about the contents of YOUR OWN show which has been around for a quarter of a century before embarking on the writing course for new instal...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

First time poster, but a very long time reader of these boards and of Lynch forums in general. I've finally been driven to post from a sense of genuine shock that many long-time fans of TP have responded so negatively to both the Return generally and to parts 17-18 in particular. To clarify, I can c...
