Re: "World of David Lynch" updates
Hello, World of David Lynch has been updated, and is actually FINISHED! The final addition, a random "Rabbits" episode generator , closes the site started 13 years ago, the 12th of November, 1998. The generator is reachable through the Madison living room . Using the TV and its buttons, yo...

Re: "World of David Lynch" updates
Hello, World of David Lynch has been updated! The Black Lodge/Red Room is finished! Everything I wanted to do with the Red Room has finally been done after all these years. Compared to the previous announced update, here is what changed: - You can now meet Jimmy Scott actually singing "The Syca...

Re: Three questions about MD
He's probably happy people extend his creations because he likes the idea his creations live after he finished directing them (that's the main idea of my site), but he's very very careful that the audience gets his main points. This is something we see in Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway ("I like...

Re: Three questions about MD
I don't know, I have a tendency to think the man who was on the set the whole time and spoke to Lynch regularly has some hindsight/knowledge about these things. When those fit everything else at my disposal and absolutely nothing contradicts them, I have the tendency to think it's the truth. (One of...

Re: Three questions about MD
Well, there's no reason to believe the pilot was shot with the intention of it being a dream. It doesn't make much sense. Even if it does work eventually in the movie, it's obviously tacked on. Then, there's the fact Lynch explained how he found the idea to wrap everything up. He was clueless before...

Re: Three questions about MD
My assertion is that there are many clues to the first part being a dream in the first part. It suggests to me that it was always intended. But it wasn't. We do know that. From what I remember the only things Lynch added to the first part are the pillow scene and the dance contest, which are clues....

Re: Three questions about MD
garethw : From what we know, the idea the pilot is Diane's dream wasn't intended at all in when it was shot. It's something Lynch came up with after Canal + bought the rights to the 2 hour pilot and made him sign to add half an hour (only !) to turn it into a movie. Lynch said he was delighted at fi...

Re: Three questions about MD
Well, let's remember "Mulholland Drive" was first supposed to be the pilot of a series... so David Lynch probably had tons of ideas about who the characters were and what they lived through and what was supposed to happen to them. So maybe he did think of something like that, consciously o...

Re: Three questions about MD
What made me wonder before was that eerie "frozen" grin they had in the taxi and also the pure disturbing nature they had in the end (you know those grapsping hands and the whole feeling that was quite similar to Polanski's Repulsion). To me the grin at the beginning is quite straight : t...

Re: Three questions about MD
I think it's needlessly convoluted. I don't think those old people abused her, it's never ever hinted at. I'd rather guess that, like the people she meets at the beginning, they are positive people : either they represent the nice dream she had of her as a nicer, cleaner, more energetic and successf...

Re: Three questions about MD
You know, among his "mystery movies", Mulholland Drive is his straightest. In general Lynch doesn't really hide stuff all that much IMO, his films aren't designed to be confusing. The first part of the film starts with a long shot of a pillow, then when the shift occurs later in the film, ...

Re: Where Season Two fell apart
I agree with most people here, but on the whole I think the writers stopped taking the show seriously as well. Too many of the characters became jokes : Leo, Nadine, Bobby and Mike, Ben Horne all became comic relief. And of course there were the new ones : Dick, little Nicky, and Windom, the biggest...

Interesting conversation, a shame I missed it when people participated. On the whole I agree with snikgrif, they probably don't really happen in the same "world", as in one character could meet the other, but I do think Lost Highway, Twin Peaks/Fire Walk with Me, Eraserhead and to some ext...

Re: Blog Debate Over the Merits of Lynch's Paintings
Honestly, I'm afraid this blog doesn't deserve attention. Talking about "weird for weird's sake", picking on "Fire Walk with Me" while pointing the majority of reviews agree with him (not knowing the majority of reviews since changed their mind), suggesting "Lost Highway&quo...

Re: "World of David Lynch" updates
Thanks a lot, moviemaker ! "World of David Lynch" has been updated today ! All the updates are in the Black Lodge : - I've added the "Fire Walk with Me" effect there was in the previous version of the Lodge (with better sound and better everything). The "Fire Walk with Me&qu...
