Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Not the most flattering shot of Peggy Lipton (who is still a beautiful woman -- that light does her no favors). Otherwise, this is perfect. Big Ed more craggy than ever, Hawk looks glorious with his white mane. It's so incredible that these characters are no longer frozen in time.

Re: The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer (Audiobook)

Such a classy, lovely human being. I'm glad she's voicing Bob as well. It makes sense because to me, the "Bob" of the book is functioning through her subconcious -- manipulating her emotions rather than actually "speaking"' to her.

Re: What's up with the creepy old woman in FWWM

Lost in the Movies's (wonderful) character studies brought my attention to this theory: https://www.reddit.com/r/twinpeaks/comments/571jha/official_rewatch_twin_peaks_fire_walk_with_me/d8oruka/ . I'm not convinced that Lynch planned anything so elaborate, and I prefer to let her be a mysterious othe...

Re: Episode 7

Can any original viewers shed light on what the general reaction to the big cliffhanger was? I know it was first and foremost a spoof of 'Dallas,' but it's still a pretty big plot point from a narrative standpoint. Based on anything I've read/seen, it doesn't seem anyone (including the writers) part...

Re: Lara Flynn Boyle putting paid to Cooper and Audrey romance?

(For all his consistently stellar performance, I find it funny how Beymer stated he had trouble getting into the character at first, baguette anecdote and all... and also later? Yes sir, your character's defining trait in the central Laura Palmer narrative is indeed that he groomed a teenager into ...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

That's a really good point. I remember quite clearly that Mulholland Dr went a little over my head the first time I watched it, but I was intrigued enough to go for a second viewing - seeing MD a second time was so memorable because I felt like I was watching a brand new film, and it was incredible...

Re: Least Favorite Storyline in Twin Peaks

I had kind of the opposite look to it. At first when she thought she was 18 I thought it was a bit stupid and too silly but Wendy Robie really grew into the persona and I ended up liking her character more than before when she was just a bit too over dramatic and angry. To each his own. While her f...

Re: Least Favorite Storyline in Twin Peaks

Nadine in HS, and her super-strength storyline in general, just drags on and on for almost the entire season. It's my pick just due to its length -- not to mention that it completely destroys a character I found both very poignant and beautifully comedic in that slightly "off" Lynchian way...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Well there wouldn't be much diversity in a town like Twin Peaks. I could see more Native American characters, but there aren't a lot of blacks folks in rural Washington. And yet my girlfriend, watching the Pilot for the first time last night, was impressed to see a woman of color playing a doctor (...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Sure, it was disguise in this case, but, it still treads in very dangerous ground, evoking memories of white actors playing Fu Manchu or Charlie Chan, or Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's. I think it's one of those cases where historical context trumps story context. I'm frankly surprised tha...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Didn't Lynch confirm the story about the booing in the Rodley book, or am I misremembering? If so, I trust Lynch's memory a lot more than Engels's. Engels seems like a great guy, but his love of chatting seems to outpace his ability to remember details.

Re: Lara Flynn Boyle putting paid to Cooper and Audrey romance?

Audrey was never in the FWWM script? Maybe she was in earlier drafts? I've always found it very odd that she is the one series main character (besides Catherine) who is absent from the shooting script, even though her entire family appears (and she is referenced in dialogue). Her explanation in tha...

Re: Lara Flynn Boyle putting paid to Cooper and Audrey romance?

What I find interesting is MacLachlan was always in tandem with LFB resisting something; she declined FWWM, forcing Lynch to re-cast, and Kyle, until the last minute, also bowed out, being the only cast members to do so -- it seems, regardless of all potentially decent motivations behind the screen...

Re: Lara Flynn Boyle putting paid to Cooper and Audrey romance?

Agreed - I believe the story 100% (both peyton & frost have all but corroborated it) and I do think the outcome was harmful to the show (although that's as much the writer's fault as anyone) but lfb gets enough crap from people already, including really shitty remarks about her appearance, and ...
