Silencio (Paris Club)

Has anyone on here been able to visit the club that DKL designed? I was on holiday in Paris last week, so of course I made it a point to drop in. It seems that the club is open only to members at the beginning of the evening (it’s an exclusive artists-only membership), but it then opens to the gener...

Re: Shout Factory Collector's Edition Blu-ray out May 22, 2018

Also - does anyone know why the deleted/extended scenes start at 9-11? Where are 1-8? The numbers correspond to the scene numbers in the script. Scenes 1-8 are in the film proper (or else were never shot). Huh. That makes sense. I guess I am thinking about various things I've read where an early cu...

Re: Is this board closing?

Sorry to hear you had those experiences, Dugpa, although not surprised given how prominent online threats and bullying are in our culture. I have tried to express periodically how grateful I am to you and the other mods for keeping this such a balanced, non-hostile environment for the most part, a r...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

Rewatching part of this one again. Timeline wise, does anyone think it's possible that after Becky shot up Gersten's door, she went back home and that's where Steven confronted her about it in a rage and being the asshole he is, turned all of her completely justified anger about his affair back ont...

Re: Phillip Jeffries imposter / Lost Highway connection?

Whatever the original intentions were, I think it’s highly likely that when L/F rewatched E29 together while writing S3, they formed some new ideas about that moment that may not have had anything to do with whatever DKL was thinking in 1991 when he conceived it. For instance, it seems likely to me ...

Re: Question to ask Sheryl Lee?

The ring is definitely an interesting one. This is maybe too much an area of secrecy, but I would be curious to know if DKL gave her anything specific to whisper to Dale in TP:TR (obviously she won’t reveal what she said, but I’d love to know if there was a “scripted” line or if she was just improvi...

Re: Original Season 3 Plans

Semi-on topic, given the references to Dead Dog Farm in recent posts: I’ve been reading up a bit on the production of Dune, probably the DKL film I’m least well versed in behind-the-scenes-wise (due in large part to the relative dearth of information readily available in most sources). However, i le...

Re: Episode 21

A little detail from the Blu-ray I doubt would've been visible on the VHS: Randy St Criox's badge gives his name as 'Randy Meyer'. Randy had some identity issues. He was scripted simply as “clerk” in E21, in which as you note his nametag contradicts the credits. He then is scripted as Emile Lazar i...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

1) I think "We live inside a dream" is the mission statement of the series. 2) I think "Who is the dreamer?" is the show's biggest question. 3) I think "the dreamer" is the audience. Interesting. The other day, I was reading an essay a guy named Kenneth George Godwin w...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

Peyton in particular certainly brought a ‘His Girl Friday’ snappiness to the dialogue that I particulary missed in the new show when Albert was onscreen. It’s for sure an ingredient that was missing from the new recipe, but I’m ok with that, partly because my favorite of DKL’s works tend to be the o...

Re: Season 3 Magazine Coverage and Articles Worldwide

Julee Cruis interview: https://pitchfork.com/thepitch/julee-cruise-is-not-to-be-messed-with-interview/amp/ She doesn’t elaborate on whatever her issue was with the new show, aside from saying that DKL can throw temper tantrums. She generally speaks positively of him and refers to him as an older bro...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

I don’t know why some people are so quick to dismiss Lynch’s writing abilities. As others have pointed out, most of his best-regarded works were written by him solo (BV, MD, Eraserhead). Comparing the Episode 8 script to the episode as shot is a fascinating case study: aside from the two big monolog...

Re: Episode 12

File under Never Noticed Credits: Van Dyke Parks, the legendary writer of the Beach Boys' lost Smile album--lost at least until 2011--appears in this episode. Not knowing what he looks like, I had to look up who he played. None other than Leo Johnson's attorney. Strange casting choice. I wonder if ...
