Re: Is Major Briggs an Orpheus figure?

I agree that Cooper is also an Orpheus figure, because of his attempt to rescue Annie Blackburn. But Maj. Briggs is another Orpheus, because his head floats off, and takes it place among the stars. Actually, the "disembodied head", theme appears in Eraserhead (1977), when Henry's head fal...

Re: Repurposed Footage

Also, I’d been holding off on bragging about this, but I totally called that we would be getting a CGI de-aged Laura: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2644&p=76285&hilit=Hopkins#p76285

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

I also wonder what the presumed Harry/Will dialogue in Part 7 would have been like, given that they were both there with Cooper in Episode 29, creating a very different dynamic to the Frank scene.

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

I think the way that Harry was handled, in light of the unfortunate circumstances, was about as good as possible. I could see an argument that his role should have been given to Hawk instead of Frank, but other than that, I don’t know what else they could have done. It sure would be interesting to s...

Re: Repurposed Footage

Huh. That’s why I would never presume to go beyond 99%...nothing’s a sure thing, Shelly. ;) I am surprised, though. The Part 17 scene plays like they were working around a few usable preexisting shots which were recycled and intercut over and over. If they were creating brand-new animation from a CG...

Re: Repurposed Footage

https://buf.com/films/twin-peaks/ So it seems all the Bob shots were of a CGI Frank Silva and not repurposed footage https://i.imgur.com/Z4eVIGm.jpg Also Sarah's face was initially the above image with Lynch Later adding Judy/Experiment I don’t think that’s true, re: Silva. I think BUF included tho...

Re: Theories & Speculation

I meant to add that if there is any moment I see DougieCoop come through in Part 18, it’s those final moments in the street when Dale seems to lose his bearings. LateReg and I have discussed the possibility that Diane herself is a tulpa created by Dale many moons ago as a sort of projection/imaginar...

Re: Theories & Speculation

I think we need to be more precise when talkiing about “Dougie” in this context. We have (1) Dougie-A, created by Mr. C “for a purpose”; (2) Dougie-Coop, the incarnation of “our” Dale we spend most of the season with; and (3) Dougie-B, created by Dale to go home to his family. I assume Rik Renault i...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

DKL is great at manipulating mood and contrasting different moods (in the interview posted yesterday, I think Mark says he believes DKL is better with mood than anyone since Hitchcock). Think of the scene in LH when Pete and Alice have sex in the desert to the strains of This Mortal Coil. It’s beaut...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

Great listen. One of the most fascinating things about the L/F dynamic is how they can metaphorically be on the same page while reading completely different books (Mark views Dougie through a Jungian lens whereas DKL “doesn’t even want to hear about” psychology — I imagine the same is true of much o...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

It appears that Lynch and Frost were very frugal in the amount of nostalgia they wanted dished out in The Return. I actually remember feeling the twinge of nostalgia only twice- 1) When Hawk visits Sarah at home and 2) When Mr. C says "hello Andy' as he approaches the Sheriff station. The “Sha...

Re: What's next? What chance do think there is we will see a season 4?

You may well be right about international numbers. Did the Blu Ray sell well, though? A quick glimpse at this site seems like it only cracked the top 20 for one week (again, maybe it sold better overseas?). In the US, CBS completely screwed the pooch on the rollout, with way too few units produced. ...

Re: Blu-ray

Oh, BTW! The feature documentary Pretty as a Picture: The Art of David Lynch features some BTS footage of DKL at work on the film. It would be great if a release of LH someday could include a supercut of all the footage Toby Keeler shot of the production, much like the Criterion Eraserhead disc did ...

Re: Blu-ray

No deleted scenes currently available, although there was definitely stuff cut. The script is out there. I don’t own it, but I think the French Blu Ray is the best in terms of extras. It’s a pretty modest offering (an EPK and some press interviews), but it’s better than the other releases which are ...

Re: Shout Factory Collector's Edition Blu-ray out May 22, 2018

Amazon shipped out the uncorrected disc to many of those who pre-ordered, and met the original street date, and I was one of those people. It's a terrific disc (even with the silent menu). If you have the earlier Blu-ray released by Twilight Time in a limited run that's long sold out, I've read tha...
