Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

What is the deal with Tommy’s stomach (assuming that is Tommy)?! He seems to have some chestburster action going on! C0478DFD-1F0A-4668-B217-CD92D8D82519.jpeg Is that black creamed corn, a Bob-orb, or something else entirely? Not to mention that his flannel shirt has a distinctly Woodsman-esque qual...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

As far as goofs, MT rightly notes that such flubs are an indelible part of film history going right back to the beginning of the medium. Whether you view them as fun trivia, charming quirks, or little distractions that detract from your enjoyment, they’re inevitable. I think this production overall,...

Re: Kyle MacLachlan sounding far less optimistic about more Twin Peaks

If it happens, it happens, and if it doesn't, it doesn't. It's all about how the fish bite. That’s pretty much how I always felt about the original series continuing as well. Episode 29 was a great ending to me (even though I know DKL has said he felt differently). Part 18 is a great ending. I thin...

Re: Kyle MacLachlan sounding far less optimistic about more Twin Peaks

I imagine that now, even DKL and Mark being seen in public together (they had their preliminary conversations for this show at Musso & Frank’s) would immediately become entertainment news fodder and lead to rampant speculation. The scrutiny would be much higher for a new season from the get-go, ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS

I’m probably the wrong person to ask the Tarantino question, since I’m a fan of a lot of his stuff. Of course, he’s probably a poor fit for TP (as he is for Star Trek IMO — I’m both fascinated and terrified to see what that will look like). But if he had made TP:TR, I think my first reaction would b...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Nicely put but a bit evasive here, Mr President. IIRC you defended a certain aspect of TR strongly for page after page, but then when you were asked page after page if you yourself would have included this aspect in your own hypothetical show you refused to answer, repeatedly, as did everybody else...

Thanks! Either I’m super obtuse or it read really poorly onscreen, but you’re definitely right.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I also think the electrical socket, far from being random, was kind of predictable in retrospect. Electricity has been set up as a major force of the TP supernatural impliedly since Episode 2 and very explicitly since FWWM. We even had DougieCooper staring at an outlet in the Las Vegas PD in an earl...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

The Return was proof enough of its own awfulness, but also telling was the way its fans went about defending it, and also how they didn’t. See the Facebook grunts above, the drive-by daftness throughout this thread, and now Mr R lowering himself to a Clouseau-grade deduction that certain criticism ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I don’t want to derail this thread with theorizing, and this conversation should probably move elsewhere if it’s to continue, but I will just add that Diane seems to be an important part of the switch from classic Cooper to the more somber Mr. C-esque Richard. The second that he recognizes Naido to ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

As yet another diverging opinion, I was surprised by how little 'regular Coop' we got... ...and I hate pt16 Coop. I appreciate his role in the story if I frame him in a certain specific way, which I find very easy with the way the story continues, but I've found nothing in interviews to support my ...

Re: An apologia for Sarah

Just thought I would share this post I came across. What if Sarah/Judy isn't an 'evil' entity, but something more complex? https://www.reddit.com/r/twinpeaks/comments/6ztfz7/allsarahs_hideous_wailing_in_part_17_could_have/ This is really interesting. I do think L/F — or at least Frost — were gettin...

Re: POLL: The Nature of Audrey's Situation (Spoilers)

Thanks - I remembered there had been some substantial drama with MA, but couldn't remember how it all came about. - Just interested in the thought process behind DKL using that line and connecting Audrey and the Arm to it and if the new material for Fenn inspired him to make that choice or if it wa...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I do think the “evil twin impersonates the main character and creates mayhem and reputational damage” thing has been done by everyone from Bonanza to Gilligan’s Island to Sabrina the Teenage Witch to Lost. I’m certain L/F could have come up with a satisfying, original take on the formula (The Prison...

Re: POLL: The Nature of Audrey's Situation (Spoilers)

MJA was in the script and declined to participate for salary reasons...then engaged in some other behavior ensuring that he will never again be in any DKL production. I think it’s entirely possible that the EotA’s line was added after Fenn’s scenes were shot, even if the Red Room did wrap before Fen...
