The Packard Mill

Something that's been eating at me during this rewatch: the Mill is hardly ever referenced after the first couple episodes of season 2, and its fate is left extremely ambiguous. The Mill is the lifeblood of the community, three of our main characters' personal finances and careers are tied to it, it...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

guys why are we still talking about that crappy teaser when we now have this to discuss?? Lots of exciting surprises. some of those people I was just expecting cameos from so series regular status is awesome! https://gowatchit.com/watch/shows/twin-peaks-154140 I don't think that site has an...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Honestly, a show featuring a lot of old people looking sad & depressed really excites me (in Lynch's hands). Don't know what that says about me!! In a way, I know what you mean. We don't get a lot of shows with a big portion of characters over 50 years old, and we have so many talented actors i...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Honestly, a show featuring a lot of old people looking sad & depressed really excites me (in Lynch's hands). Don't know what that says about me!! 100% agree. the guy kills it when it comes to shooting sexy young women and craggy old people. Just the expressions/lighting in the "familiar fa...

Re: One reason to worry about the quality of Season 3

Is it possible that most of the 200+ names on that cast list are not much more than cameos at all? Other than the story being set in multiple states/countries and some of them probably showing huge amounts of people at once (casinos, bars, whatnot) I can't think of any way to incorporate more than ...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I see nothing wrong with wanting the show to put its best foot forward marketing-wise (which it has been until this point, IMO, aside from the social media nonsense which I've been ignoring for the sake of my sanity). I'd like to see the show do well. If it doesn't, it won't affect my enjoyment at a...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Kinda funny that Showtime didn't include any of their own shows in there. I guess it would be tough to riff on Dexter, Homeland, and The Affair.

Re: Episode 25

It's funny: Lynch pushing the out-of-the-blue romance with the much-younger Amick should play as an uncomfortable abuse of power, but his boyish enthusiasm just makes it feel so innocent and sweet. (Of course, it helps to have 'A Slice of Lynch' to let us know that the admiration/enthusiasm for the ...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Yeah, I suppose it is a bit corny, but that hadn't occurred to me. I was just excited to see them promoting it in such a venue. I agree, but I wish they'd used one of the several existing spots. If I weren't already a fan of Peaks and Lynch, and I saw that spot in the theater, I think it would leav...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

A lot of these examples are good examples. But none even come close to the level of complete control and authorship as in this new series of Peaks. It's not that others aren't good examples of auteur television...this new series is just beyond the others. I still hold that Louie exceeds even DKL on...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I'd add The Knick, with Soderbergh directing the whole thing and the two creators writing all but two episodes. But Louie is probably the purest example of one person doing everything, possibly in television history. (Btw, any fans of CK who haven't seen Harold and Pete should do so as soon as possi...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Well, I got a nice little present tonight when attending BAM Rose Cinemas, the great arthouse/repertory theater in the Brooklyn Academy of Music. During ads before the film (ugh, remember when they didn't have those?), one clip started with the familiar green and brown lettering coming up on a blac...

I think it's just a reference to what Coop says to Albert in Episode 3.

This is the same man who said TP was as dead as a doornail, and backpedaled after saying film was dead to him. He'll do what he feels like. I sure wouldn't mind if he stuck to making 18-hour TV miniseries, though.

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

My wife and I are having a group of six friends over. Eight of us is about all we can fit in our living room with proper viewing sight lines. Red table cloth with a chevron runner down the center. Coffee pot, donut stacks, cherry pie, butter and Brie sandwich bites, roadhouse beer of some sort, RR ...
