Re: Twin Peaks VR game

Yeah, took me a while to replay over xmas! Devs seem to be updating every couple of weeks - little tweaks here and there. Have suggested some improvements via steam forum and they replied that they'll look into them - like getting rid of red room ceiling - so we'll see if there's any substantial ch...

Re: LMFAP original season 3 script page!

Again, the idea of LMfAP and Mike/PMG simply rereading old lines / recreating old scenes seems way too fan service-y to me. If that was indeed the original plan, I’m glad external circumstances caused Lynch to have to adapt. What we got was much more interesting.

Doesn’t the Jeffries machine generate an infinity symbol which is also a number 8 facing sideways?

Re: Numerology in TP:TR (spoilers)

the Fireman's Nazi Bell rings 64 times before the Fireman shuts it off. 8 times 8. I only bring it up because it had to be a conscience decision by someone on how many times it rings. Any number would have been sufficient -- but the fact the scene went on longer than needed makes me think that numb...

Re: What's going on with http://www.intwinpeaks.com/?

Ah.. so most 90's TP forest locations were filmed in California then? That would indeed explain the different vibes the flora gave me between TP and TPTR. And yeah, in my book those locations are both at the foot of Blue Pine Mountain, the seat of the white lodge 8) Yeah, the only things shot in WA...

Re: What's going on with http://www.intwinpeaks.com/?

Hmmm... makes me wonder whether that spot where Garland took Coop fishing is anywhere near Jackrabbit's, either fictitious or in reality. Maybe fictitious, but in reality Jack Rabbit’s is in Washington and the night-fishing site is in California (probably in Franklin Canyon Park, although I don’t b...

Re: Peaks Fans Top 10 TV shows

Interesting, didn’t realize Firth was a Lynch “gateway drug” for a lot of people, but that makes sense. Oddly enough, my Lynch “entryway” was a 1991 episode of the Disney cartoon Darkwing Duck called “Twin Beaks.” It was maybe 60% Peaks spoof and 35% Invasion of the Body Snatchers (with a 5% dose of...

Re: Peaks Fans Top 10 TV shows

Not a TV show per se, but I was just reminded of David Firth’s intermittent web series of animated shorts, Salad Fingers. He has cited Lynch as an influence, and I absolutely adore the weirdly sad, hilarious, disturbing world he has created.

For those jonesing for a TP location guide fix, this blog is a worthy successor: https://www.twinpeaksblog.com/2018/03/17/complete-guide-to-twin-peaks-film-locations/ The guy who runs it was immensely inspired by InTwinPeaks, often citing to their work while building on it, and frequently posting sc...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

My understanding is L/F own the property. I don’t think anyone else can do anything with it as long as they’re alive unless they sold it, which they’d never do. It was very important to them when selling the pilot that they would retain complete control.

Re: Twin Peaks Season 3, Star Wars, JJ and Fan Service

I’d list James Bond as a series I like that tends to stick to a fairly repetitive formula, although the films I like best tend to be the ones that are a little more innovative (e.g., Casino Royale). Godzilla (the longest-running film franchise in existence) is another example, and probably tons of h...

By the way, @Mr Reindeer and @LateReg. I'd love to hear your musings about Parasite. So far, it's recieved nothing but universal acclaim. Maybe another thread? And, go see it, if you didn't yet. I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t seen it yet due to my hectic schedule. Everyone whose opinion I respect...

Re: Twin Peaks Season 3, Star Wars, JJ and Fan Service

GoT is an interesting and pretty unique example, as an adaptation of source material that doesn’t yet exist. I hope to one day find out how much came from GRRM. I had no problem with the ending in and of itself, just how we got there. It strikes me as the equivalent of a kid who got all the answers ...

Screenwriter Chris Terrio (who REALLY had a big fall from grace, going from Argo to Batman v. Superman and Justice League and Rise of the Skywalker...ouch) discusses the rationale behind some of the controversial stuff here: https://www.awardsdaily.com/2019/12/24/star-wars-screenwriter-chris-terrio-...

Re: Twin Peaks Season 3, Star Wars, JJ and Fan Service

I can understand “betrayal” only if the creator in some ways desecrates what has come before. The example that pops immediately to mind is the ending of the novel Hannibal, which some fans (including Jodie Foster and Jonathan Demme) felt betrayed the character of Clarice Starling as she existed in T...
