Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

It’s fair enough that the creators had a different opinion, but it felt like a completely separate project that was ‘Twin-Peaks-ified’ in order to get sold. That’s why I consider the whole of TPTR to be artistically senile. It was like an Alzheimer’s patient – memories of the past all over the plac...

Audrey — My post wasn’t directed at you! Gabriel referred to DKL as senile in the post before you. Your criticisms have been consistently level-headed and persuasive.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

You know what, I’m really sick of this “senile” nonsense. I’ve found this thread by and large to be an engaging and thoughtful contemplation of the season’s weaknesses (of which I admit there are a number, despite my overall love for the work). But certain posters keep coming back to this idea of DK...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I don't think that is right, at least not universally so. I think the portrayal of Laura Palmer in FWWM, and the audiences possibility to connect with and understand the character, outweighs even the best moments from the series. I was gonna say the same thing. I feel more of a connection with Laur...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

This new footage is incredible — even better than the BTS stuff on IE. For a guy so protective of the final work as it appears onscreen, it’s shocking and thrilling that DKL allowed multiple documentary crews this level of access. I can’t wait for Tuesday. A few preliminary things from these videos:...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

It seems likely to me something is going on behind the scenes with MJA. He trashed the show on FB up until a few days before it premiered. It's been too long now to just conclude he got religion and decided posting negative stuff about Lynch, Frost and Showtime. He stopped posting ANYTHING for mont...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I am rather hopeful of hearing “honest” reactions to the new show from the original cast one day. For instance, Lipton in 2001 opened up about the fact that she found FWWM too dark and joyless. I have to wonder how she felt about S3. I could see Kimmy Robertson having some choice words about the gre...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Why would a character be 'spoiled' by Season 3? I also have trouble understanding this mindset. Even taking it as a given that S3 was a steaming pile of turd — a perfectly valid viewpoint even if I don’t share it — I personally have always found it relatively easy to separate crappy sequels from be...

Re: Sam Esmail interviews Mark Frost

Do you remember which interview he says they didn't remember the 25 years later thing until after they started? I have not even been thinking that the way back in wasn't the 25 years later thing because I thought he had explicitly stated that it was in one or more of his interviews. Sadly, I don’t....

Re: Part 17 - The past dictates the future (SPOILERS)

There was no combined 17/18 of which I am aware, it was presented as two normal back-to-back episodes as far as I can recall. Huh. I think the two would have flowed together really nicely, possibly with the repeated sequence in the woods removed from Part 18, unless DKL intended for it to show — as...

Re: Part 17 - The past dictates the future (SPOILERS)

I haven’t yet seen any of the “two-hour” versions of the various combined Parts, as I watched on Showtime’s streaming site. Evidently, I will get the chance to experience the “combined” versions of Parts 1/2 and 3/4 on the Blu Ray, but it seemingly doesn’t include the combined Part 17/18. I recall p...

Re: Tom Sizemore accused of molesting 11yo

I think a lot of the themes/scenes of abuse toward women, which many viewers on this forum found excessive and exploitative, feel a lot more powerful and relevant at this moment in history. While it is true that the repeated instances of abuse and violence don’t focus much on the women’s realities o...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

And what better way to spur daydreaming than an open downer ending, huh! It's open to interpretation, but I don't think it was really a downer, just somber and reflective ending. Far from the singing robins of Blue Velvet's ending, to be sure, but Coop and Laura were still alive at the end (perhaps...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

My read is that he'd love to do it, but his time is finite and there are a whole lot of things he'd like to do, like spend time with his family, travel, make music, do painting and printmaking and photography (etc.), go on meditation retreats, and any number of other things. Ha, you’re reading a lo...
