Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

The problem is people calling the female performers “hags” and “call girls” and implying that having to even LOOK at Laura Dern is an assault on the viewer’s delicate aesthetic sensibilities. She did it again in The Last Jedi, ruining Star Wars franchise with purple hair this time... bloody disgust...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Oh, get off the PC-tinged indignation about comments on the actors' looks. Some people have over analyzed every single bit of this show, even stuff that doesn't deserve it, and you would deny that the faded looks of the female and male actors is part of that, the passage of time? Fenn looks horribl...

Re: Part 17 - The past dictates the future (SPOILERS)

Also, now that I’ve seen the BTS footage of DKL just throwing a trenchcoat over his regular clothes for the shot of Gordon pulling up, I can’t unsee the un-Gordon-like black shirt he’s wearing there. Furthermore, where did Gordon’s coat go from the time he got out of the car to his arrival at Frank’...

Re: Part 17 - The past dictates the future (SPOILERS)

I have to say, for all my griping about the green glove fight, I found it an absolute delight to freeze frame. Much like the glass box/Experiment sequence in Part 1, DKL has a blast whipping the camera around, using poor man’s process to warp and morph the characters from frame to frame. The lightin...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Also it should not be stressed enough, if you are an actress over the age of forty you should put a paper bag over your head and be deported to an island. What about the crow’s feet around Kyle’s eyes? I found it truly offensive. And Dana should’ve dyed his hair! There’s no excuse for these people ...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

Yup. I just listened to a Sabrina Sutherland interview on a TP podcast (sorry, I forget which one now, I think the one hosted by guys named Ben and Brian), where Sabrina said Jason S. was unable to be in WA for the first part of the shoot and that's why they invited Charles de Lauzirika to get cove...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

I watched the “Impressions” material and I am so grateful to those of you who prepared me for the “narrator” segments, because I might have shot my TV Elvis-style if I didn’t know it was coming. (Ok, I don’t own a gun; maybe I would have stabbed it with a vodka bottle, Sarah-style.) I assume they we...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

What I like about Bell’s performance is that, while her physicality is a pinup-girl/Marilyn Monroe version of an FBI agent, her demeanor is earnest, girlishly enthusiastic, and proper in a way that befits the TP Cooper-fitered vision of the FBI. Yes, she’s a little awkward, simultaneously goofy and ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

DKL likes “bad”/quirky/nonrealistic/artificial acting sometimes. Check out the BTS footage of Lillard and Cornelia Guest rehearsing the prison scene. Guest gives a much more subdued/natural performance in the rehearsal and DKL is clearly not into it. Presumably, he amped Guest up to the overblown so...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

In one of the behind-the-scenes documentaries, Lynch is seeing sketching the New Jeffries on a pad of paper. If I remember correctly, he sketches his face in the cloud of smoke and says, "Jeffries is in the smoke" or something. Think the initial idea was to put David Bowie's face in there...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

The thing is, he is completely arguing in bad faith. He's admitted many times there's plenty of things he likes about S3 (he has a S3 avatar for god's sake), and then in the next breath says "it literally doesn't qualify as art and should not even exist." He lashes out like that whenever ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I don’t see the value in sharing another poster’s words on another platform without permission, for the apparent purpose of eliciting negative feedback (in some cases personal attacks/presumptions about him), then throwing them back in his face. Gabriel isn’t hurting anyone. He’s made a couple of co...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

hmm that's strange, i'm just trying it in my Blu Ray player now and it works like gangbusters. the first image should be white text that says something like "use your < or > button on the remote to go forward or backwards between images". the button to use is not the chapter skip or ffwd ...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

Is anyone else having issues with the photo gallery on Disc 7? I have a pretty old Blu Ray player (Sony BDP-S300), but I’ve never encountered this particular problem. I can load the first image, but no button will let me progress past that one picture. Anyone have any ideas? I understand that not al...

Re: The visual aesthetic of the new Twin Peaks

Sure, but DKL himself said in EW in May that the picture for the show itself was fully locked, and that he wouldn’t have let a second of it air until that was the case. Apparently the Blu-Ray adds a digital zoom to the scene where Sarah removes her face, so it is possible other small things were ch...
