Re: Parts 1 & 2 - My log has a message for you & The stars turn and a time presents itself (SPOILERS)

Part 2 rewatch... Does anyone know what the building is in the opening credits? I find it interesting that Lynch chose a drone shot with man-made structures in it, rather than an unspoiled woods/mountain shot like he generally favored in both series. (We get our best look at it under Angelo and Duwa...

Re: Twin Peaks: From Z To A 12/10 & The Television Collection 10/15 Blu-Ray & DVD Sets

Quick question though I think I already know the answer. This set does not have any new remasters of the original series, it's the exact same transfer used in 2014, correct? The only differences I can tell are the UHD disc (which is unusable for me) and a few extra special features. I have the 2014...

Re: Parts 1 & 2 - My log has a message for you & The stars turn and a time presents itself (SPOILERS)

Continuing my quarantine rewatch onward from the original series and FWWM, I have a feeling I’m going to have less to say about TR on a Part-to-Part basis throughout my rewatch, having written so much on these boards about TR the last few years. But man, I enjoyed the hell out of Part 1. Such delibe...

Re: Laura's diary pages (Potential Spoiler?)

I was torn between starting a new thread and reviving a very old one, but it probably makes the most sense to continue here... There are two things I want to address here: the overlap between TSDoLP and the filmed material (when entries from Jennifer’s book are seen or referenced onscreen), and the ...

Fire Walk with Me General Discussion

It appears that there isn’t a general discussion thread for the movie, so since I’m up to it in my rewatch, I figured I’d start one! Discuss the Bizarro-Peaks Deer Meadow denizens (are Deputy Cliff and Giggling Secretary an item?), the convenience store meeting, the Great Went, the capuchin monkey, ...

Re: Episode 29

I've absolutely loved the commentary through your most recent rewatch Reindeer, many many thanks for sharing your thoughts. Without having another recent rewatch under my belt personally, it's made me feel like I've experienced the journey one more time Glad you enjoyed it! It’s fun to revisit the ...

For those who want to donate to Lynch’s charity to bring TM to medical professionals:

One lucky winner will be chosen to have a virtual coffee date with Lynch, and he’ll draw a portrait of you while you chat!

Re: Episode 29

In P8, when the Fireman looks out the window after his entrance, I always get the impression he's looking at me. Oh yeah, you’re right! I forgot about that! I read that moment as an indictment of humanity, like he’s holding each audience member responsible for the birth of the atomic age and all th...

Re: Episode 29

No matter how many times I see this one—and I’ve watched it a lot, far more than any other episode of television—it just blows me away how perfect it is. It’s hypnotic and absorbing and unbelievably rich in mood. In my rewatch of E28 and E29, it has been genuinely shocking to me how well I can buy t...

Re: Episode 29

Lots of last-time series character appearances in this one in terms of the linear timeline, even if we see several of them again in prequel form in FWWM/TMP: Donna, Leo, Earle, Briggs (other than his ethereal appearances in TR), and Harry and Annie (although we do technically get a teeny bit more of...

Re: Rank the Series Directors

Great thread idea! My ranking is about the same with a few quibbles: I'd put Tim Hunter higher, maybe even after Glatter, because at the end of the day, his episodes are memorable and firm in my mind. They feel like 'key' episodes, and Twin Peaks to me is just less interesting when subdued. In a si...

Re: Rank the Series Directors

Great post! I generally agree and would love to dig into it more. I just wanted to chime in quickly and say that I too have just finished an original series rewatch after a couple years away, and I reached a pretty concrete conclusion that nearly gels with your findings. Which is that I unquestiona...

Rank the Series Directors

Having just finished up my rewatch of the original series, I thought it might be fun to compare rankings of the series directors. Here are mine: 1) David Lynch (Pilot, E2, E8-9, E14, E29, FWWM, P1-18) 2) Lesli Linka Glatter (E5, E10, E13, E23) (Episode 5 is a classic, Episode 13 has some really fun ...

Re: Twin Peaks Season 3, Star Wars, JJ and Fan Service

I can appreciate Star Wars contribution to cinema; I don’t want to sound like an elitist: I’m an unabashed fan of what Kevin Feige has done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and I find many of the popcorn hits of the last four decades to be terrific, fun films, many of which I own on Blu Ray and ...

Re: Episode 28

This is still one of my absolute least favorite episodes, but it is a rather interesting one in light of TR. Calendar check-in: By my calculation, this episode takes place on Easter Sunday! (March 26, 1989) It sure doesn’t feel like it. Weird day for a beauty pageant, and the characters we know are ...
