Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Deep Thought wrote:As Gay Talese would say . . . suck it up.

That’s a lovely sentiment to echo on a board dedicated to a franchise that is in large part about sexual abuse and the way society ignores it.

He says a question “might be on the right track” in saying that the captive “grey” Nixon shows Jackie Gleason may have a relation to the Experiment. Did Jow-day do time at Homestead AFB?!

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Perhaps this season has revealed to some of us that there is nothing to think about Twin Peaks. That there is no grand scheme of things. That it is not a complicated cosmic puzzle. That it is truly a collection of good and bad ideas clumsily mixed together. That even if some scenes are cool or upli...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31 (SPOILERS)

DKL did have a Tokyo art show during part of the production of S2, so that explains part of his absence.

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31 (SPOILERS)

Since we have no way of knowing what has and what hasn't been common knowledge, I'd like to abstain from speculation; some hardcore fans are aware of the fact, that much I can safely say, but that's about all. As for the truth of which Frost speaks being reflected in journalism, I disagree - I have...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31 (SPOILERS)

Well now, in this latest interview Jerry just posted a link to, Frost puts paid to all the rumors about Lynch not being present during the filming of S 2 'cause he was "off filming Wild at Heart" so that's why the show went to shit. Frost actually says Lynch was off during much of S 1 fil...

Re: Thoughts on 'The Autobiography of F.B.I Special Agent Dale C

Another interesting tidbit: Cooper’s last words to his first love Marie before she dies are, “Sure thing.” Is it a coincidence that he later tells Shelly, “Nothing is a sure thing”? Also, Dale’s dad gets remarried in Vegas (and Dale is booted from the casino for card counting, told never to come bac...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31 (SPOILERS)

I think if DKL had wanted to explicitly spell out “Sarah=1956 girl,” he would have done so in the series. Lynch didn't write the series, he co-wrote it. So this sentence falsely attributing the series to him isn't very persuasive. To put it another way, it's not possible for us to know what the thi...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31 (SPOILERS)

Mark said somewhere that he expected the audience to have identified Sarah as the Girl on their own, by the end. Not sure how he felt that was driven home in the series, since it was something obvious to speculate after episode 8, but didn't seem clearly confirmed afterward... But whatever. Since t...

Re: Thoughts on 'The Autobiography of F.B.I Special Agent Dale C

Mark recently mentioned this book in an interview as the beginnings of the exploration of Dale’s dark side which continued in S3, particularly Part 18. Something I haven’t seen mentioned before: in the book, Dale sees his first dead body when his grandmother dies....while making cherry pie (3/08/68)...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31 (SPOILERS)

I think L/F were on the same page about 1956 girl being Sarah...probably. But DKL made a very deliberate choice not to directly spell it out, and I tend to think he wouldn’t be thrilled with the book doing so. And I doubt he approved this or any aspect of the book. As of a few weeks ago, Sabrina sai...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31 (SPOILERS)

Okay thanks. I'll have to rewatch some of the original series to catch that stuff again. We are assuming the Packard Mill and Ghostwood Development are technically separate development areas, right? So maybe the Packard Mill stuff isn't relaly a retcon at all and is more just inserted "secret ...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31 (SPOILERS)

I noticed Mark wrote that Ben sold his multi-acre land of Ghostwood Forest to developers. Does this align back to the series now a bit more? Does it jive better or worse with the retcon in the first book with Catherine? I can't keep it straight anymore. Does the following sound right based on the b...

Re: 'Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier' Novel by Mark Frost 10/31 (SPOILERS)

Frost is reminding me more and more of Damon Lindelof during the height of Lost hype, when every answer was a cagey “Hmm that’s intersting...or IS it?” I was hoping he’d be a little more forthcoming with all the material (for now) out in the world, but I guess not. "The Final Dossier" IS ...
