Re: is there any other show that even comes close to your obsession with TP?

Hannibal is a must-see, the most visually striking show on TV. I thought it ended on a perfect note and I don't think it's necessary to move the story beyond that point.

Re: is there any other show that even comes close to your obsession with TP?

I think the new X-Files would have fared much better if it didn't begin and end on such an awful note. Chris Carter has become a truly terrible writer. But Darin Morgan's episode was brilliant and certainly the best episode since season 7 at least.

Re: is there any other show that even comes close to your obsession with TP?

The Wire and The X-Files, although the latter is more of a bittersweet, nostaglic feeling of a first pop culture obsession that went down the drain due to increasingly insipid writing in the show's later years. The former is the closest to perfection the TV format got so far in my humble opinion.

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

How about his "colorful" description of the Black Lodge?

Think: a pop-up jazz lounge for grim hipsters. IN HELL.

That was as cheesy as it gets. :D

Re: What is the general take on 'Who killed Teresa'?

I believe Lynch also directed the episode where Leland dies in the show? When Leland is dying and speaking to Cooper, everything points to him not knowing what happened, so I wonder why Lynch went with that scene and then seemingly 'changed' things in the movie version. The episode was directed by ...

Re: What is the general take on 'Who killed Teresa'?

Just because something is ambiguous, doesn't mean that every explanation and interpretation is equally valid or interesting, or corroborated by enough evidence from the show/movie itself. I don't think anybody here stated that Leland is alone on this. But to think the opposite is just way too simpli...

Re: What is the general take on 'Who killed Teresa'?

Lynch is unequivocally implicating Leland every step of the way. The demonic possession angle is clearly a wash-your-hands routine that makes the viewer (and some of the writers on the show) clean the slate. Which is why it was so cringe-worthy to see all the EW journalists go about it like it's gos...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

MacLachlan enjoyed playing Cooper's dark side.

No surprise there! As I've stated before, I think this is going to be his Fire Walk With Me in terms of performance intensity and the emotional arc for the character.

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I don't believe the show will be less than 50% about the town and with no disrespect to the insiders on here I just don't buy that. The show will be 100% about the town. The show will not be 100% in the town. I think Nevins couldn't have put it more succinctly with the odyssey quote. I guess Deer M...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Ahhh, so now a director who has always been obsessed with nostalgia and pastiche is "intentionally misleading" us with faked nostalgia in production stills from a series that is known for revelling in pastiche and nostalgia? Seriously man. Sigh. Nevermind you're talking about two differen...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

I think it's extremely likely. That's the point. That's why he's revived it. An exact Lynch quote "I love Twin Peaks and it's world." As far as it resembling Lost Highway...how? Because Coop walks out of a shadow and there are nught shots? Then it resembles Blue Velvet too. I don't even k...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Nah. Feel and mood of Inland Empire? Sure, to an extent (although Mulholland Dr. was mentioned more often). Visual style? Hardly anyone was thinking that Twin Peaks will be shot in cheap digital, which is what I was referring to. Actually, that part in the EW feature is worrying me a bit : 142-day ...
