Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

If their ‘artistic inastinct’ is objectively garbage then ill trash it happily. TPTR is objectively garbage and subjectively ‘good.’ and how do you justify saying that? this is what I mean when I write that you are in no way offering constructive criticism. Mate, I’ve written literally thousands of...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Maybe if Coooer and Mr. C were in the end the same person all the time, legitimate split halves then we’d have something to latch onto and apply to our own lives. I will break down the main disappointment though with the Return (for me) to the lack of exploration of doppelgängers and not being resp...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Just a random gripe, but did anyone else find Frank, and Forster's portrayal, totally useless? The character offers nothing whatsoever in any scene. Even in the agonizing Wally scene, he just stands and looks lost, nothing going on. It would have been preferable if the character were cut and Hawk w...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

Just because it's an interesting and fun thing to debate, I'll ramble... I think intent matters more than the method of distribution, so Lynch/Frost writing it as a large chunk and shooting it like a film matters more than the fact it was broken up for television (in my eyes). TV was the only way th...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

I think the fact that you can create such good matches by placing episode footage to run simultaneously proves that it's a regular TV-show, and nothing more. TV-episodes are done to certain structure to create the arch for the episode, and since so many coincide, they're TV-show episodes. Maybe I m...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

I agree with most of this: http://www.slashfilm.com/sight-and-sound-twin-peaks/ Hi, hi, hi. I have opposing thoughts, Reindeer. I think it is both a film and a series, and quite obviously both, as outlined in an article in filmmaker magazine. It was written like a film and then shot like one, and L...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

Not "failed to address" at all. We all know that she was acting, and that her true name is "Mary Reber." She was "requested" by Mr Lynch to use the name "Alice Tremond." In our real life reality people sometimes lie, sometimes play a role, and seldom tell the...

Re: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Blu-ray 12/5/17

This is all very strange but I believe the problem is as much or more to do with the manufacturer as it is to do with Amazon. I went to a local retailer who always puts things out early and they hadn't received any copies yet as of Sunday; I think it's a case of limited supply more than Amazon simpl...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Come on. Reception of this "great work of art" wasn't as unanimous as all that. A little perspective wouldn't hurt. It absolutely was, all but one or two mayor critics hailed it as somewhere between great and best ever. As for fan reaction - check f.ex. the polls on this or other websites...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Watching Michael Ontkean - and Jose Ferrer- in Tales of the Unexpected episode “Man From the South” (where he bets his pinkie for a J-A-G... car) and thinking about how unspoiled S1&2 Harry Truman has remained by S3. He’s safe in Jamaica, healthy and young in my mind now. Good on ya, Mr O. Did ...

Re: TP:TR. Full 18-hour experience

Personally, I can't imagine that watching in one sitting (or close to it) would be a valuable experience or enhance the show. Just from a time perspective, It's not something I would do. The problems with the show weren't all about how it flowed. Poor narrative and character choices aren't going to...

Like Yaxomoxay and I were saying, this writer agrees that the 18-hour marathon makes this thing flow like a river:

Re: What Did Laura Whisper?

The best theory I've read was that Laura whispers the same thing she did in the original show 'My father is dead' because Cooper is still stuck in a loop. He's shocked at the end because he thought he changed the past with her being killed, but he really didn't. My father killed me...I like that a ...

Re: Mark Frost's Contributions to TP:TR (Speculation)

Laughing, I think objectively it was more than a wish. I just took it for granted that starting out, Frost and Lynch would be thinking what to do with Coooer, Audrey and Truman... (even if I hated those three) and then also how to continue to have Laura and the Palmers remain a central external mys...
