Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group

But as frankenhooker said, Lynch's comments are not what the simple headline makes them out to be. That's a fact. And I don't think Lynch's comment has any bearing on the quality of The Return, so it therefore has no business being central to this thread.

FWIW, in that Cahiers interview, Lynch was talking a lot about dark times and at that point Trump came up. It was brief but I understood from that point that he is certainly not pro-Trump, as if there was any doubt. It's a shame about the clickbait headlines and culture.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group

Lynch on Trump, after a year and a half of the presidency: "He could go down as one of the greatest presidents in history." No further comment necessary. No, further comment is indeed necessary as all you’ve done is pluck a headline from an interview with no context. I read the interview ...

Re: Parts 3 & 4 - Call for help & ...brings back some memories (SPOILERS)

So BOB was afraid of Cooper? I don't know... I know this has nothing to do with the plot, per se, but metaphorically, or whatever, Mr. C is Cooper's id, or whatever, so of course he wants to stay as far away from Cooper and exist on his own and run rampant. Getting too close to Cooper would be risk...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

The digital was alarming at first, but I grew to love its subtlety, especially as I started to see still images that told me that the Showtime stream was not doing it justice. There's a crispness that fits this series, as though you can't escape reality or the world as it is, which this series pres...

Re: Theories & Speculation

Near the end of the first chapter of his new biography, DKL talks about his belief that we enter the world with a lot of our personality predetermined regardless of the circumstances of the rest of our lives. I’m not sure how much I agree, but I think this theory definitely speaks to where DKL is c...

Getting too close to Cooper would be risking unwanted mediation or suppression (/death).

Re: Theories & Speculation

All I have to say atm is my interpretation of 18 was always that the Dougie that went home to Janey-E and Sonny Jim was a "purer" tulpa, created from the original Cooper and not the twisted, flawed doppelganger. I assumed then and now, based on Kyle's new comments, that this Dougie posses...

Re: Theories & Speculation

I think we need to be more precise when talkiing about “Dougie” in this context. We have (1) Dougie-A, created by Mr. C “for a purpose”; (2) Dougie-Coop, the incarnation of “our” Dale we spend most of the season with; and (3) Dougie-B, created by Dale to go home to his family. I assume Rik Renault ...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

Late Reg - yes, an interrogation of nostalgia is a great way of describing it. The Cahiers du Cinema interview with Lynch details how he says the season ends in the Hindu Iron age, which is not a good one overall, so yes its not a clearly happy ending. But there is still room for a continuation and...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

We have seen it for 22 episodes, multiple times. I honestly think it would’ve served no purpose at all especially since it’s linked to one of the most iconic moments of TP, one that can’t even be emulated in the slightest. I honestly think it was better this way, as Indiana Jones thought us, some s...

Re: One year later - how are we feeling?

Heather Graham is freaking awesome, and I’d have loved to see her work with DKL as a more mature artist. But I don’t think Annie was ever anything more than another stone along a path. Not that Dale thought of her that way; I think his intentions were pure, and maybe they even might have become a s...

Re: How would Lynch/Frost tackle Season Four?

I was expecting more shots of the iconic Sign Board as it was featured heavily in the teasers, but all we got was a 1 sec scene :( We have seen it for 22 episodes, multiple times. I honestly think it would’ve served no purpose at all especially since it’s linked to one of the most iconic moments of ...

Re: Theories & Speculation

I wonder if the reason Cooper goes back and leads Laura Palmer out of the woods is not to change the past in order to save Laura from her pain and her death that night at the hands of Leland, but instead to save Diane from eventually being raped/traumatized/tulpa-fied by Cooper/Mr. C. Laura was alr...
