Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Having rewatched the entirety of the series in just 5 days, with the last 9 episodes during 2, this is my feeling as well. Without the long wait between segments it plays out differently and gives much more credence to Coop being on the right path all along. Something i feel have been thoroughly ov...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

For me, the possibility that Cooper may have heeded the Fireman's words correctly--that, after many more cycles of strangeness and suffering, he (now more complete, though less sure-footed) and Laura (probably with Laura guiding the way) may make something of this yet--is exactly what prevents the ...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Was singing it abstent-mindedly & realized that Chromatic's Shadow was definitely written with the last episode in mind: At night I'm driving in your car Pretending that we'll leave this town We're watching all the street lights fade And now you're just a stranger's dream I took your picture fr...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

I also like the reading above that interprets "430. Richard and Linda. Two birds with one stone" as a warning. That's certainly possible. Either way, it's an inscrutable spiritual tug of war with Laura (capable of saving herself and understanding) and Cooper (who can't) in between. I'm ha...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Heh, I was uncharacteristically cursing a lot in that post! Obviously in an emotional state after that powerhouse of a finale. Yes, when i wrote that post I was pretty sure the "real" Dale becoming an integrated incorporation of all his various forms (particularly the overtly Mr. C demean...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Audrey in Diane's place would've been beyond heartbreaking. Maybe too much for people to take. I always find it amusing when people say it should have been Audrey or Annie. Yes, in TV show logic, it should have definitely been Audrey or Annie, since those are the characters we knew and who we know ...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

I like a lot of what you are saying here, but why did Dale and Diane have to "cross over" in the first place? Crossing over to what? Diane tries to talk Dale out of it, it seems. It seemed as if their new reality took a while to fully manifest. It is not until morning that Diane thinks of...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Part 17 started out severely on the wrong foot, almost aggressively playing up everything that's made me uncomfortable so far about TR: the FBI crew sitting around overexplaining shit in bland exposition, making references to Gordon/DKL's virility ("Not where it counts buddy," with a cut ...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

I can certainly remember being shellshocked by the original ending, and bring elated when the film was announced / outraged when it was announced it was a prequel. This time around I found the final episode absolutely perfect. The one criticism I do agree with is that the last 2 parts rendered a lo...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

As this sinks in, I'm getting a strong MD feel. The "dream" has a happy ending (Bob is shattered, Mr. C is sent back to the lodge, Janey-E and Sonny Jim get the husband/dad they want, plenty of sandwiches for everybody, Laura is saved, etc.). Then we see an ugly real world. Idiots with gu...

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?

I think The Return is unquestionably the strongest individual season of Twin Peaks. It's more ambitious than the near-perfect season 1, and more consistent than season 2, which contains the highest highs of the original series. As a whole I think it is therefore better, while elevating the original...

Re: TP:TR Soundtrack released- Listen to the sounds musing

Agree with you on this soundtrack -- it's almost a narrative in itself. Dark Space Low - this is a profound track I've been playing over and over. A little redolent of Badalamenti's work on MD with the sad and mysterious synth work, but besides the darkness and lowness to me it also has a very spat...

Re: TP:TR Soundtrack released- Listen to the sounds musing

So the score/soundtrack was released today and with no TPTR to watch on sunday nights, clearly I immediately had to binge listen to it. It's remarkable. The choices they've made in terms of which score pieces to include, are really powerful, and do much to really distill down the emotional point an...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

Are there no rating numbers from the finale? http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-sunday-cable-originals-network-finals-9-3-2017.html Part 17: 254 Part 18: 240 Pretty much in line with the rest of the show. Not that I feel like the live ratings matter much anyway... I'm actu...
