Re: Did Cooper really fail? Was Laura really supposed to die?

"Did Cooper really fail? Was Laura really supposed to die?" No, Cooper did not fail, not at all. He exactly did what he had to do: he remembered. He even announced "The past dictates the future." He located Laura, who persisted in the guise of Carrie Page. And he brought her &qu...

Re: Did Cooper really fail? Was Laura really supposed to die?

Reindeer...while I'm not completely sure, I've always come to the conclusion that Lucy understanding cell phones is actually an illogical thing, as you say. She comes to understand them by talking to one Cooper while another is present in the building. I've partly thought it was a joke, and that she...

Re: Did Cooper really fail? Was Laura really supposed to die?

While it has crossed my mind that Andy’s “very important” conveyed the mental image to Lucy, it seems to function on a more literal level as Andy pointing at the phone, indicating that the call which is about to come in is very important. Lucy even repeats the words when Frank tells her to take a m...

Re: Did Cooper really fail? Was Laura really supposed to die?

Not necessarily. The Fireman might also show danger, that is show the consequences of actions that should NOT be taken. As a matter of fact, the Fireman shows Andy at least one thing that never takes place. The “Andy positioning Lucy” thing is weird/interesting. I’m trying to remember the exact seq...

Re: The Random Season 3 Thread (SPOILERS)

Happy Twin Peaks Day! CB's tweet got me teary-eyed and I had to draw our Blue Rose poster boy&girl bonding over one of their favorite topics... tumblr_p4oo4jPAsN1qic729o1_540.png Per a request on the AMA, she has temporarily made her blog post on Ferrer publicly available. It’s pretty great (an...

Re: Ray/Phillip Jeffries storyline

As it were... Capture.PNG Jokes aside, I don't think there's anything that unequivocally jumps out to spell out the reasons and/or details of Coop's fuck-up. But that's the impending mood of that final scene (it's wrong wrong wrong , I get the chills even when I'm just flipping through it to get sc...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Satisfied Support Group (SPOILERS)

One of the reasons I was fascinated by TP:TR is that it really got me thinking about what may lie beyond life and death, the 'afterlife' so to speak. Did anyone else have these thoughts? Specifically, the show started me thinking, 1. How would we know what is real and what is not in an afterlife? T...

Re: Ray/Phillip Jeffries storyline

i'm fine with shifting the Fireman's scene everywhere, I tried many places when trying to get on board with the Coop Hubris theory. I'm not disputing it, Frost basically said it's what it appears to be, it just feels to me like we're supposed to base this on nothing more than Coop being confused in...

Re: Ray/Phillip Jeffries storyline

I would say that Lynch and Frost just missed the 'carefully ambiguous' mark with The Return in a few instances, namely the Jeffries/Mr C/Briggs interplay over the past 25 years and the whole 'tragic flaw' aspect of Coop's situation at the end. I'm fine with things being ambiguous, but I just don't ...

Re: Ray/Phillip Jeffries storyline

Since you asked. ;) I think the original TP had two major influences on the TV landscape (both delayed by about a decade, showing how ahead of its time the original was). One of the things it did is to inspire creators like David Chase and Matthew Weiner to create compelling, original works — so-ca...

Re: Ray/Phillip Jeffries storyline

It seems to me very blase to suggest that Lynch and Frost were amiss in their writing on s3 or sloppy. Isn't the question as to why certain plot elements are unclear or fuzzy? Yes! This is I wholeheartedly agree with. To assume that Lynch/Frost were lazy or careless is the worst thing one can do. T...

Re: Ray/Phillip Jeffries storyline

I agree that there are a lot of plot holes in this story. But to be honest, I don't think they matter all that much. It pretty much goes with the territory. Almost anytime you create this huge, complex narrative, the plot holes become inevitable. Since 99.9% of the audience either doesn't catch the...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I’m still not quite sure what to think of the “not where it counts” bit, but there’s definitely a lot going on there. First we have avowed pacifist Albert having gunned down a person, a colleague (are tulpas an exception to his philosophy?). I’m not passing judgment on him — it was self-defense — b...
