Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

And yet, in a supreme act of anti-fan service, L/F DID revisit the Cooper-Audrey dynamic, for a few seconds’ worth of casual exposition explaining that some version of Cooper raped Audrey. And IMO that storytelling choice, if you’re going to go there, needs to be justified. As much as I really love...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

That’s bizarre that it would be hard to see how Audrey would be there at the end, especially since the structure of the story had flip Cooper father her child out of rape, and that her surprise moment before the finale was revealing that she too was sidelined in some alternate reality prison for tw...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I like 17 and 18, but I like 18 a lot more as an ending. Despite its ambiguity, it's 18 that really brought all the themes together and tied everything into a neat little bow, relatively speaking. One major theme is identity, and the sex scene is a huge part of driving that home. As Reindeer notes,...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I totally forgot this (terrific) TPU podcast exists, with Peyton talking about S3 (it’s right at the beginning of the podcast): http://twinpeaksunwrapped.podbean.com/mobile/e/twin-peaks-unwrapped-122-harley-peyton/ He at one point calls the show worlds beyond what anyone else is doing in television...

Re: Betty Williams - Odessa

I stumbled onto the story working on my Odessa piece for 25 Years Later . https://25yearslatersite.com/2017/11/16/odessa-west-texas-scorched-oil-judys-and-murder/ Someone in the comments turned me onto the Texas Monthly piece. I'm a librarian at Texas Tech's Southwest Collection/Special Collections...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

"Fire Walk With Me" has Cooper - on several planes of reality, trying to save Laura Palmer. That's a bit of a stretch in how it could relate to this show. This show itself gives no specific foreshadowing that trying to save Laura is Cooper's primary purpose; only after the fact do you rea...

Re: Who is Alice Tremond?

Thoughts on the interview: He seems to say that no scenes were moved between Parts, but I find this difficult to believe, especially given blatant stuff like Dougie’s game of catch. I wonder if this is a translation issue, as the rest of his answer is talking about cutting scenes as opposed to movi...

Re: The Random Twin Peaks Thread

Really just a random tangential Lynch thing. Be sure to watch the Fox O.J. special that just aired -- an unaired 2006 interview in which O.J. essentially confessed to the murders (posing it as a "hypothetical" to retain deniability). He references a figure named "Charlie" (Bob?)...

Re: Is Audrey a tulpa?

I believe we’ve discussed it before. I get what you’re saying, and I understand the appeal of Cooper encountering (and being helped by) both of “his” rape victims in the Mansion Room, but I personally don’t see it. The “coma” parallel aside, there wasn’t even a superficial connection between the ch...

Yes! Moves the chair into position so Mr. C can sit down. Watch him do it. It's very interesting.

.... It's all been noticed before, but it is remarkable that you leave out the American Girl parallel. http://www.dugpa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=3730&start=360#p114161 I believe we’ve discussed it before. I get what you’re saying, and I understand the appeal of Cooper encountering (an...

Re: Did Cooper really fail? Was Laura really supposed to die?

While it has crossed my mind that Andy’s “very important” conveyed the mental image to Lucy, it seems to function on a more literal level as Andy pointing at the phone, indicating that the call which is about to come in is very important. Lucy even repeats the words when Frank tells her to take a m...

Re: Is Mr C split in two?

There’s definitely something tragicomic about Mr. C’s arc. I do get the sense that none of the Lodge spirits (except Bob) is particularly on his side, and it does seem like all sides (including the ambiguous Jeffries) are screwing with him and using him as a pawn. It's definitely tragicomic, good w...

Re: Did Cooper really fail? Was Laura really supposed to die?

I took it to be an electrical cable overhead, near to where Mr.C was supposed to succumb to the pull of the cigarette lighter. Others had pointed out how much the electrical cable structures (don't know the exact name for them) at 430 resembled the little man/giant from the cave painting. It's actu...
