Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

Part 17 started out severely on the wrong foot, almost aggressively playing up everything that's made me uncomfortable so far about TR: the FBI crew sitting around overexplaining shit in bland exposition, making references to Gordon/DKL's virility ("Not where it counts buddy," with a cut ...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

I can certainly remember being shellshocked by the original ending, and bring elated when the film was announced / outraged when it was announced it was a prequel. This time around I found the final episode absolutely perfect. The one criticism I do agree with is that the last 2 parts rendered a lo...

Re: Part 18 - What is your name? (SPOILERS)

As this sinks in, I'm getting a strong MD feel. The "dream" has a happy ending (Bob is shattered, Mr. C is sent back to the lodge, Janey-E and Sonny Jim get the husband/dad they want, plenty of sandwiches for everybody, Laura is saved, etc.). Then we see an ugly real world. Idiots with gu...

Re: So is there anyone else who prefers The Return to the original?

I think The Return is unquestionably the strongest individual season of Twin Peaks. It's more ambitious than the near-perfect season 1, and more consistent than season 2, which contains the highest highs of the original series. As a whole I think it is therefore better, while elevating the original...

Re: TP:TR Soundtrack released- Listen to the sounds musing

Agree with you on this soundtrack -- it's almost a narrative in itself. Dark Space Low - this is a profound track I've been playing over and over. A little redolent of Badalamenti's work on MD with the sad and mysterious synth work, but besides the darkness and lowness to me it also has a very spat...

Re: TP:TR Soundtrack released- Listen to the sounds musing

So the score/soundtrack was released today and with no TPTR to watch on sunday nights, clearly I immediately had to binge listen to it. It's remarkable. The choices they've made in terms of which score pieces to include, are really powerful, and do much to really distill down the emotional point an...

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

Are there no rating numbers from the finale? http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-sunday-cable-originals-network-finals-9-3-2017.html Part 17: 254 Part 18: 240 Pretty much in line with the rest of the show. Not that I feel like the live ratings matter much anyway... I'm actu...

Re: Part 17 - The past dictates the future (SPOILERS)

Fantastic episode, slightly disappointed in the Freddie v Bob finale, but it is what it is.One thing i was surprised, it took all of Mr C efforts to get to the White Lodge, but he was immediately sent from there by the Fireman to TP...why was it so important for him to get to the the White Lodge? I...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Repost: This is probably also the place to separate how the show feels while you’re watching it and how it lingers in the memory afterwards, something David Locke’s superb recent posts alluded to. The original run and FWWM were spellbinding live experiences but were so haunting that in the memory t...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

That's totally fine. My comment wasn't levelled at you. It's at those who keep accusing us of just wanting a nostalgia fest, which actually isn't true. I mean yeah, if wanting a show that bears some slight resemblance to the original is a nostalgia fest then maybe it is true, lol. In any case thoug...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Plus as I and a couple of people have pointed out, there's a level of hypocrisy here. The same fans that decried our nostalgic tastes are in rapture because we have a missing piece from the original series back. Being honestly engaged with the Dougie saga and what it was trying to do does not mean ...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)

So here goes, my preliminary write up of part 16. I'm okay with the night-driving on these winding roads, a very familiar Lynch imagery. With the Evil Coop at the wheel, his devil-spawn at his elbow, a headlights-illuminated gypsy ribbon leads us through twists and turns, up hills and down dales to...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)

After a very long day driving to Nevada and exploring for hours around the shores of Lake Tahoe, hurrying after and at times carrying my son, we were heading back to California after dark. As I drove through the tall dark trees at night, the headlights illuminated a pitch black two-lane road windin...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)

Okay if Audrey is in the "nut house", then we can only assume that all the new/nameless characters in the roadhouse who don't interact with anyone from "outside" are also patients in the "nut house". If so, the "I'm waiting for someone" kinda gets a whole new...
