Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

About all the Dougie thing, I think Lynch wanted to make his own "Mr Hulot" character like in Jacques Tati movies. Lynck never hide his admiration about Tati. https://thefilmstage.com/trailer/david-lynch-talks-jacques-tatis-legacy-as-trailer-for-restored-playtime-arrives/ http://www.taste...

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)

Gripes: - I fast-forwarded the Dougie scenes. Too long and pointless now. While it can appear frustrating, especially for anyone not into Jacques Tati-type humor I'm pretty sure this material is the heart of The Return. That doesn't make it enjoyable to watch. Agreed. I love Tati (and I love Being ...

Re: Part 5 (SPOILERS)

Knepper and Belushi are very good threatening heavies which is no surprise but I really do hope they get more and better use out of Sizemore. Prior to this appearance I imagined him in an ultimate heavy capacity, this series' Frank Booth, but his character so far seems far more mild than I expected....

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

I think it's routine for Showtime. They usually do it with the first episode of every season of their shows. I was actually surprised it took them this long to post the TP premiere but I assume it's timed to stoke interest.

That actor looks familiar...

That's Max Perlich, a character actor who has been in many things.

Re: NON SPOILERS: Twin Peaks: Season 3 on Showtime Thread

I know that Lynch and Frost felt strongly about this not being a binge-show, but that philosophy feels somewhat at odds with the '18-hour movie' structure. If the show had more in common with traditional episodic TV, with each week offering a series of setups/payoffs, A-stories and B-stories, etc.,...

Re: NO SPOILERS: Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime May 21st 2017

Not all Moby is great (he can be kind of scattershot as he's restless and experimental) but some is and some is even phenomenally so (such as Living , for instance, which I consider among the best pieces I've ever heard--a marvelous, even thrilling build and development). Frankly, as a fan, I can sa...

And I like Dune most of all which, I guess, is just about the most heretical thing you can say as a purported Lynch fan (Heretic of Dune?).

pour one out for Arbogast, wherever he/she is. They definitely made this board a ton of fun to read over the past year or so. Whatever happened to Arbogast? Is he/she ever coming back? Was hoping we could plumb his/her mind during the season and maybe get them to expand a bit on some of what had be...

Re: One reason to worry about the quality of Season 3

My own concerns are much simpler and more basic/fundamental. As I've mentioned here a few times before, I'm not a big fan of later Lynch (post- Lost Highway ) so that does give me pause. Beyond that, though perhaps related to it, for awhile now I've been mulling over whether the profound level of se...

And depressing too. It's like the triumph of subpar fan fiction. Still, Lynch could pull it off if that is what it will be but I'd much rather it wasn't. On the face of it at least, uninspired doesn't begin to cut it.

Re: is there any other show that even comes close to your obsession with TP?

Watched the Season 1 finale of The Leftovers last night. What a great episode. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. It's my own favorite episode by far so far. Mine as well. Comments about the show switching gears in Season 2 have me a bit worried, as I really enjoyed the tone of this one. There are many w...
