Re: When do you think will "Dougie" snap back to being Cooper? (Spoilers)

To extend the metaphor, from "alt.tv.twin peaks the trickster author, and viewer mastery" regarding WKLP anxiety: "Are we experiencing an excruciatingly slow f--k destined to end in a whimper of an orgasm? Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. There are worse things in life" -...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

This thread has been notably harsh on Lynch - Frost less so. Yet I wonder if the lack of simple entertainment that many have highlighted should be laid at his door. I think you could see a problem even before the series began - that hidden supposed message in the spines of books in an image in TSHO...

Re: Gender in Twin Peaks: The Return (SPOILERS)

Ok, so all the mods are responsible. I'm not bothered by the pressure, I'm bothered by the caving in. I have no idea, was just guessing. "No politics" is one of the board rules but it's impossible to have art that points to real world problems caused by real world systems and decipher tha...

Re: POLL: The Nature of Audrey's Situation (Spoilers)

Maybe we should get a separate thread for these kind of discussions. I'd happily keep it going through the bleak days ahead, when TPTR is all done (...) from a quantum perspective I guess it represents the co-existence of every possibility: everything happens, on its own illusory level. Which parti...

Re: When do you think will "Dougie" snap back to being Cooper? (Spoilers)

Ragnell wrote:But hey, what role will the ancient key to the hotel room have?!

My wild guess is there will be a vortex behind the green door James was investigating, the key will open the door. The sound Bushnell hears will guide him.

Yeah I'm glad we had to wait for Cooper, too. Payoff worth it.

Re: POLL: The Nature of Audrey's Situation (Spoilers)

I like the idea that the booth conversations in the roadhouse and all the names mentioned are dream / hallucination sequences that integrate people she's in hospital with or conversations she's overheard; it makes some sense of all the non sequiturs, animals, and bizarre talk -- not to mention the ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Someone else corrected me on that recently. Sure would have been nice if we'd ever seen them interacting with the rest of the Vegas cast, outside their office, or had any indication through set design that their offices were in fact in Vegas. I thought the floor to ceiling windows behind him, throu...

Re: Gender in Twin Peaks: The Return (SPOILERS)

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know exactly who banished this to its own thread? Mod consensus under pressure I think. It's interesting the microcosm of the main defense that 'it's just reflecting reality, duh' and 'it's not one artist's problem so it's beyond questioning.' These are such 'free...

Re: POLL: The Nature of Audrey's Situation (Spoilers)

these multiverse/parallel theories that so many fans poo-poo as too sci-fi are precisely the ones that - in my understanding - are WAY more "realistic" than the boilerplate "eternal struggle of good vs. evil" stuff. Right, especially when Martha Nochimson talked to Lynch a...

Re: POLL: The Nature of Audrey's Situation (Spoilers)

We should know that with Lynch, scenes taking place in different locations... even if they're temporally adjacent to us, the viewers, doesn't mean they are in the world of the show. And besides, with American Girl being the only character, over 16 hours now, to refer to a seemingly villainous "...

Re: POLL: The Nature of Audrey's Situation (Spoilers)

Oh, also, I just posted this in the 16 thread but probably should have done so here: Does it look like Audrey is just now looking into a mirror and seeing herself for the first time in 25 years? When I first watched it tonight, I thought she was just confused and disoriented after the smash cut fro...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I wanted to be grumpy about Diane saying fuck you to OAM. I wanted to be grumpy about the theme song in a Vegas hospital. Candie saying the gangsters had hearts of gold. Jerry being a moron. I just can't, I accept the goofiness like Dick Tremayne and the ferret. Won over at last. Deepest sorrow for ...

Re: Part 16 - No knock, no doorbell (SPOILERS)

How could Audrey imagine Eddie Vedder if she's been in a coma all this time? Pearl Jam weren't even around back then. Music played in her room. Even if someone did that, she wouldn't know the name Pearl Jam much less Eddie's Vedder's real name. I guess someone decided to read her Eddie's Vedder's W...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

"Night Electricity" Dean Hurley was the Mr C driving music- I was listening to that album last night. My favorite song from it along with One Chord Blues. I don't think there's much place for Angelo in this dark realm, but the oldie's appearance goodie struck all the chords.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

This was the first part I didn't check the time. We knew about the rape, we knew Coop was going to wake up with adequate buildup lol, we knew Diane was a tulpa, we knew Vedder "Out of Sand" was coming. HOWEVER I got chills when the bars of the themesong began, my heart soared as they drove...
