Re: Fire Walk with Me General Discussion

Thanks for the replies and ideas. Perhaps I need to rewatch it as I definitely need to do for season 3. It's been almost three years for the movie too. Despite my initial issues with season 3, I think I might be more inclined to view it in a good light than I would the movie. Its creation comes thro...

Re: We Are All Harold Smith Now

A couple quotes have kept coming to mind in the past couple months. Of course one is "People are under a lot of stress, Bradley". Another, fitted to the occasion - "Being in a world with coronavirus isn't so bad, as long as you can keep the fear from your mind". I don't think the...

Re: Twin Peaks actors working together outside TP

The coincidence of not just "Peaks" actors but Lynch film actors working together on many different projects is something I've noticed a lot through the years. It's uncanny how you'll find not just one but multiple such actors in the same project. For "Desperate Housewives", Sher...

Re: Fire Walk with Me General Discussion

Same as with "Mulholland", in 27 years I have never developed a full liking of this movie. I'd put "MD" as Lynch's worst and this a notch or two above it. That initial theatrical viewing on opening night and the disappointment I felt has stuck with me. Through various subsequent ...

Re: Twin Peaks: From Z To A 12/10 & The Television Collection 10/15 Blu-Ray & DVD Sets

Quick question though I think I already know the answer. This set does not have any new remasters of the original series, it's the exact same transfer used in 2014, correct? The only differences I can tell are the UHD disc (which is unusable for me) and a few extra special features. I have the 2014 ...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

It's really depressing to think that no film or television productions will be able to resume for quite some time. I hope some can resume before a vaccine is widely available. That could take a very long time and there's really no way to have an accurate time table on when it might happen at this p...

Re: The Collector's Corner

I came across a website called Cameo through which you can ask celebs to send a brief shout out to someone or, I guess, get a message yourself. The "Peaks" folks I've found so far are Kimmy Robertson, Harry Goaz, Sherilyn Fenn, David Koechner, and Nicole LaLiberte. It's a pretty neat idea.

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

I've been rewatching a bunch of Carpenter classics lately (Escape from NY, The Fog, Halloween), but I've never once seen Starman before -- guess I have to check it out now. It's pretty good but of course can't help but be compared to "E.T." even though I believe it was in development befo...

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

I watched John Carpenter's Starman for the first time in decades. The alien has instances where he just repeats the words of people. Then he goes to Las Vegas and manipulates two slot machines to win a ton of cash. It's probably just a coincidence, but you never know.

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

I love Knightriders -- nice catch on the fryer/gun thing. But now I'm going to be imagining all of the "Billy" mystery is just Audrey talking about Ed Harris on a motorcycle  I really liked it too. I don't know why it took me so long to watch it considering I'm a Pittsburgher and Rom...

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

I wonder if anybody has mentioned this. S3 has at least one Arthurian reference - Lancelot Court - and I believe another, correct? I was watching "Knightriders" the other day, a movie I'd never viewed despite being a Romero fan. (SPOILER) The movie's characters are inspired by the King Art...

Re: Season 4? Or is it over after this?

I wonder why Lynch wasn't at that typically horrendous Oscars ceremony. I was hoping for him to stand up and get applause from those navel gazers. Maybe he realizes the ceremony is no longer about movies; don't know. Disappointing.

Re: General Discussion on Season 3 (All Opinions Welcome)

I've thought about this since the show aired but haven't read anybody addressing it although I'm sure someone has. Writers choose character names that aren't the same as anybody famous. Why Douglas Jones, then? Doug Jones, while hardly a household name, is well known among fantasy and horror film fa...

Re: The biggest problem with The Return - the fear/mystery element largely missing?

I agree that it's a problem that S3 has almost no scenes that would be considered creepy. Lynch was faced with the problem that anybody doing any revival, remake, or adaptation faces - how much you try to replicate things so that it doesn't look like you're bringing something in just because. Do you...

Re: Do you honestly believe there will be more Twin Peaks?

I agree with all that, but like I said I don't think it would be the same thing. Would an unlikely return to narrative driven storytelling be so bad? Would an even further venture into the avant-garde be unwelcome? A further exploration of the emotions of the characters, or of American history? I w...
