Re: The Great 'Mr. C' Debate
When watching the show originally, one of the biggest pain points for me was the complete lack of development of this character - no clue given as to what he feels and why he wants whatever he wants. Agreed. He is shown to have built connections, but from what we see of him on screen, he just wande...

Re: Recut of TPTR
Which is exactly why it infuriates me that we got the 18 frigging Lynch-directed hours of new Peaks (!!!) without a single Windom Earle scene! What Lynch did with the S 2 finale (the things Mr. Reindeer mentions in his previous post) is nothing short of TV, hell, of pop culture history and is the t...

Re: Twin peaks: Nostalgia Fanedit
A interesting project, I'll certainly keep an eye on this. But that clip reminded me again of the major issue here: Neither Ben nor Jerry play any role in the plot. I can't think of an editing solution that would change that.

Re: The slow pace of The Return
Lynch's other work doesn't come across as slow paced to me. I think one of the reasons TR feels slow paced is because many of the storylines simply aren't captivating enough. Forster as the sheriff, Dougie outstaying his welcome etc. Agreed. Most of the storylines go nowhere, and throughout them ha...

Re: The Random Season 3 Thread
I just realized today that the Owl Cave wasn't mentioned at all in Season 3. That was one of mysterious parts of the Twin Peaks mythology and I always wanted to know its history since it was a pretty big deal in Season 2 Lynch and Frost didn't watch that bit of the originals, so I doubt they rememb...

Re: Twin peaks: Nostalgia Fanedit
Every time I rewatch S2, the slump feels less deep and shorter than before. There's at least something interesting going on all the time, and the Windom Earle -plot starts quite soon.
Maybe S3 will become watchable in 25 years, who knows.

The green glove was what put an end to my plans of doing an edit. There is no story, there is no ending, no amount of editing (without access to possible cut material) can fix that.

I don't see it as annihilation, I see it as Cooper being trapped but working on a plan of action so he is ready when he can leave.

Re: Theories & Speculation
I think it's another great example that maybe what we are watching is a dream or a version of reality that Cooper has conjured up with his mind. That is the only explanation that I can come up with that explains all the inconsistencies, plot holes, vague characters, meaningless time wastes and comp...

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome)
A relevant character, one shown to have a good heart using the glove would have made quite a lot more sense. When a meaningless side character beats BOB it means BOB isn't and never was a threat, and isn't important.

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome)
Also, it's not like Twin Peaks has ever subscribed to the kind of strict narrative rules you describe. That is, really, the heart of the problem. It's not like Lynch and Frost went back and examined how the Giant behaved in the original. They just used a same actor as a similar character, without a...

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome)
If the Fireman and the Giant are the same character, something very significant has changed betweeen S2 and S3. Some kind of power balance has shifted, perhaps. I wrote in some earlier topic: In the original series, the Giant clearly says he is only allowed to give Cooper hints, and a limited amount...

Re: Why so little of Grace Zabriskie?
Well... I suppose this is more a topic for the disappointed thread, but since you asked: S3 was Twin Peaks in name only. Lynch and Frost didn't have story to tell with Sarah Palmer so they didn't. Same with Leland. They just didn't. And won't.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)
Total nonsense. It is readily apparent that Frost and Lynch both care about the fans and Twin Peaks. Completely ignoring most of the continuity, dismissing characters such as Cooper to side notes and contradicting every theme and mood in the original speak loudly to the contrary. What they wanted t...
