Re: Part 12 - Let's rock (SPOILERS)

In the original TP series, the last scene we ever saw featuring Sarah Palmer was her escorted by Jacoby (I think) and entering the Double R. She was clearly possessed by *someting*. Remember that creepy voice ? Wasn't that Windom Earle getting the taunting message to Cooper through someone who had ...

Re: Part 12 - Let's rock (SPOILERS)

The scene with the French girl seemed like one of those interior sets that they filmed in France to qualify for the French production funding. In addition to shooting a certain amount of days in the country, I wonder if there is a requirement to have a certain amount of screen time as well. I don't ...

Re: Part 12 - Let's rock (SPOILERS)

Did anyone catch exactly what Sarah was saying? I was watching through the xfinity app and the subtitles take up too much of the screen on my laptop so I usually leave them off. It really sounded like she was talking about the lodge spirits and the convenience store. (I wonder more and more if she r...

Re: Part 12 - Let's rock (SPOILERS)

Sigh. I feel like someone was ordered to build an episode out of leftover bits and excruciatingly long pauses. In the season 2 opener, sure, we had the warm milk/waiter scene, but then in this one we had *three* such scenes. Sometimes I find long scenes enjoyable, and refreshing in the age of fast-c...

Re: Part 11 - There's fire where you are going (SPOILERS)

Showtime CEO said 2 million unique viewers were watching weekly across all platforms. Interesting. Thanks. I'd like to see a source on that, when it was said, and especially how it compares to the all-platform numbers for other Showtime originals. The article was in IndiWire, you should be able to ...

Re: Part 11 - There's fire where you are going (SPOILERS)

Nope, wrong. You can put 100 question marks if you want. Interest in next installment is not equal to cliffhanger. When Cooper was shot and we didnt know who THAT was a cliffhanger. If we go your your definition then every episode of almost every tv show is a cliffhanger. You have to be judicious w...

Re: Part 11 - There's fire where you are going (SPOILERS)

This whole season has had an intentional b-movie vibe, which we saw most clearly in Part 8, but Part 11 also was full of b-horror references. The woodsmen are meant to be campy like a Bela Lugosi film. The actor who portrayed the piano player is a friend of Lloyd Kaufman's and has appeared in sever...

Did anyone else think it was odd that after Carl summons the VW Van driver, you never get a clear look at the driver? The windshield as it drives towards you is wiped out by glare, then when it switches to inside the vehicle, you only see the back of the driver, who doesn't interact with Carl at all...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

I'm wondering if this mysterious Chinese designer powder that is going through Twin Peaks is lodge-related. Maybe Stephen was a likeable con, in the mode of an Eddie Haskell, where he was clever and witty and made sure that people only saw that side of him. This drug that they are all using seems to...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

I do find myself wondering if, somehow, Janey-E is a manifestation of Dale's need to do stuff. A projection of a mother figure (although that's drifting into weird Oedipus territory), or just the feminine side of his psyche. It'd be interesting to see what comes up if they trace her records, to see...

Re: Part 7 - There's a body all right (SPOILERS)

it was so rushed and strange. It gave me an Inland Empire vibe, with the kind of fish-eye lens look and the camera shoved in peoples face. The way those were shot was so different that other scenes. The cinematography has been so varied. Well, it was news footage being captured. That's why it was s...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

Analysis of plot issues is great!! Analyses of social issues are probably better conducted in either dedicated threads or other forums focused on those issues. Quite frankly, it is not easy to ignore. I found myself wasting considerable time sorting through each of the 34 pages in this thread to fi...

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

How are we supposed to feel about DougieCoop and Janey-E's consummation? One poster found it beautiful, and DougieCoop's face afterward for this person reflected genuine love. I found it pretty rapey. If the genders were reversed, and it was Janey-E acting like a simpleton and Dougie taking advanta...
