Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

ahhh, now something you and I can agree on. I love that European ending. IMHO, there was at least one other key clue other than what you mention (given during Mike's monologue to Coop and Harry) that indicated Bob may not have been human. Can you guess what I am referring to? The arm? And let's not...

Re: RE: Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I didn't view the European ending to be this simple. I did. When I rented it in the early 90's, the guy from the video store warned me "It's like Lynch sniffed coke while shooting the ending" . I think he was right. For The Return I don't know how much of the budget was used in recreation...

Re: RE: Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Having seen the European version, for once I agree with Needleman. And thank god it's not canonical, otherwise Bob would have been some random serial killer too easily stopped. I didn't view the European ending to be this simple. Although OAM did shoot Bob, the dialogue, the sound design, the flutt...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I just didn't find him nearly as mysterious in the Euro material as later on in the series and FWWM, or now - running around with a gun and giving the cops a long unbroken expository speech. It was a compromise between Lynch's sense of dream logic and an urgent need to wrap the plot up in 10 minute...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Remember when I wrote that a lot of people who are super into TR tend to elevate it above the original and Needleman said I committed some awful crime by supposedly making a generalisation Just sayin' ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I do find it telling that certain contributors to this threa...

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I am saying the European pilot ending was thrown together on a whim in a lot of ways from Lynch's unfiltered consciousness, and the blatant plot mechanics of the OAM were of little concern to him. So pointing to the European pilot ending as a way of how Lynch preserved the mystery of MIKE at that t...

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Are you actually making fun of Lynch's work on the pilot to make your point?? I am saying the European pilot ending was thrown together on a whim in a lot of ways from Lynch's unfiltered consciousness, and the blatant plot mechanics of the OAM were of little concern to him. So pointing to the Europ...

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

The Otis and Buella scene really seemed like the start of something, didn't it Of what? Remember the OAM's introduction in the international version of the pilot, with him talking to Cooper in that dark hospital room, reciting the FWWM poem for the first time? In that scene Lynch imbued him with mo...

Re: RE: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

To me it's basically like a bunch of old friends gathered all the ingredients to make a wonderful cherry pie together and then just when they want to start Lynch barges in with a chef hat, pushes everyone out of the kitchen and says: right i'm gonna make banana crepes with this and just improvise. ...

Re: RE: Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

About OAM/PG, yes, he does go arround like a grumpy groundskeeper, but this "do you have a seed" line almost made him a Clippy-like character "It looks like you are generating a tulpa, I need a strand of hair from the back of your head". (for those who do not know I am talking o...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

And if there's one thing CNN is known for, it's for it's TV and film reviews. As a matter of fact, the article about TPTR was written by Brian Lowry, a respected, veteran film/tv journalist and published author. His only mistake seems to be that he dares have a negative opinion of the show. Imagine...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

From the new CNN article about TPTR: "Twin Peaks" will conclude with a two-part finale on September 3, wrapping up a season that can be viewed as a disappointment on multiple levels... a series that has teased out about six hours worth of story into something three times that long... Much ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

From the Washington Post article:"[Twin Peaks : The Return is] a stunning rumination on heroic good and innate evil, told through a refreshingly coherent, expertly paced plot that managed to keep its loyal fans and curious newcomers guessing the entire way." That critic must be watching an...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Curious to hear if this group would be in favour of S4 ? I'm personally torn. I just don't think a S4 is in the cards. Lynch isn't exactly prolific, and I think he probably dumped all his ideas into TR. Showtime president David Nevins said that, although another season wasn't out of the question, h...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

As one of the disappointed, I have to say that, for me, ep 16 was, hands down, the best episode of TR so far. Looking at the Dougie saga as a way for Cooper to vicariously make up for the life he missed inside the lodge, makes it somewhat tolerable and even touching in this episode. It doesn't justi...
