Re: Last Film You Watched

Polanski has definitely made some great films in the past. I personally love Repulsion, Rosemary's Baby and Tenant , in that order too. Chinatown is also good stuff, but Cul-de-sac is somehow dated (although it has some beautiful cinematography in places). I also liked Death and a Maiden quite a lot...

Re: Casting Issue

Audrey had great dreamy quality! And Sherilyn Fenn has true iconic film charisma that would've fit perfectly to those scenes. But maybe she would've been little too tough cookie to Windom and lodgers. I mean she didn't bend so easily. In that sense frail Annie was better...

Re: Mysteryman's whisper

You know, Buck's Student, you are right. Not every little riddle is meant to be solved in Lynch films, but some of them are ;) And just for the record, this isn't anything that turns the film upsidedown. It was logical. On the other hand, the monkey whispering Judy in FWWM is something really strang...

Re: In what format was TP shot?

Many british shows from 80s to 90s were shot on 35mm film and it shows. Stuff like Jeeves & Wooster, Poirot, Robin of Sherwood and Lovejoy have great quality that only kinofilm can achieve (at that time at least). Sadly most of those DVD releases here in Finland are cheap and not at all remaster...

Re: Glastonberry Grove location in FWWM - same as the TV series?

Man I envy you guys... it would be quite a ride from here. Funnily though, everybody here in Finland seemed to love Twin Peaks and it was commonly thought that the climate and enviroment played big role in that. We have very similar nature here, apart from the epic factor. Our pines and fir trees ar...

I'd say that because Visitor does her magic and transfers Nikki to tomorrow, she simply won't remember it at all.

Re: First time viewer

Yes, the quality drops but the world is still there. I've seen this show so many times and lately that latter part of 2nd season have started to feel weaker but originally I loved it all. Just enjoy the characters (well some of the new quest stars will make you cry for all the wrong reasons but anyw...

Re: Where Season Two fell apart

Well, I think that if Lynch, Frost and other posse would've still really believed to the possibility of 3rd season, the finale wouldn't be just so radical... concerning the pile of destroyed characters. I know that some of it was in the original script but still... The fact remains that when Lynch q...

Re: In what format was TP shot?

I'd say it's 35mm. Wasn't that the standard in all quality productions during that time?

Re: Three questions about MD

Hey Simbabbad, great stuff! I can truly relate to your words about Lynch! And I think that this Cenci painting was originally there a) because Lynch probably likes it and b) it can also be seen as feminist thing, you know something that strong independent woman can use as a symbol. One thing I think...

Re: Blog Debate Over the Merits of Lynch's Paintings

I have to say that this is what I miss now that I live in the countryside. When I used to live in town (large by our standards, minuscule to big world) it was so nice to pop in all those nice small galleries that had exhibits from unknown artists, painters photographers, etc. Paintings have to be se...

Re: Three questions about MD

I think it's needlessly convoluted. I don't think those old people abused her, it's never ever hinted at. I'd rather guess that, like the people she meets at the beginning, they are positive people : either they represent the nice dream she had of her as a nicer, cleaner, more energetic and success...

Re: Where Season Two fell apart

If we speculate about TP's third season, then I have to say this: if the series would have continued in that fashion (latter part of 2nd season, after Leland's death) then I would loathe it now. But truth to be told, at that time I would've been happy with everything TP. And it was always still bett...

Re: Three questions about MD

You know, among his "mystery movies", Mulholland Drive is his straightest. In general Lynch doesn't really hide stuff all that much IMO, his films aren't designed to be confusing. I agree. And I don't see that the possible abuse angle makes any real difference to the movie as whole. It ju...
