Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I thought Part 14 was one of the best of the season. As with the other best ones, it becomes better the more I think about it. And yet somehow it, like The Return as a whole, also gets worse the more I think about it. How can I simultaneously say I'm quite enjoying The Return and consider what we've...

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)

I've always liked Ray and this resemblance is fitting given the LH-esque night driving scenes that open Part 8. Also gotta love Ray's horrified, wordless reaction to the woodsmen doing whatever it is they do to DoppelCoop (healing him, I guess). God, that whole scene is absolutely one of the eeries...

Re: Part 8 - Gotta light? (SPOILERS)

Anyone else think Ray looks oddly like an equal mixture of Bill Pullman in Lost Highway and Balthazar Getty in Lost Highway? Maybe especially Pullman, but honestly I see both. I've always liked Ray and this resemblance is fitting given the LH-esque night driving scenes that open Part 8. Also gotta l...

Re: Is Lynch better with constraints? (Spoilers)

Just a few examples of big-time film directors who had carte blanche on their next project after a huge success. Note - I like a lot of these films but generally I think it's always wise for filmmakers who have final cut to accept some constraints. My biggest complaint with a number of filmmakers w...

Re: Happy 20th Anniversary to Lost Highway!!

First I was obsessed with Mulholland Drive and Blue Velvet, and then came Lost Highway... I must've watched LH 20-30 times in full over the years, I just was totally obsessed with it for a while, with its atmosphere, its razor-sharp compositions and pitch-black shadows, its ominous feel, its dreamli...

Re: If Catherine Were in The Return: An Imaginary Scene

cool, i like it a lot.. especially as it would give a nice little nod to Pete as well. i heard there was some problems between Piper Laurie and the filmmakers (not sure whom) during the second season which supposedly explains her absence. would love to see a scene like this though. Thanks! Yeah, I ...

If Catherine Were in The Return: An Imaginary Scene

I'm not all that disappointed that, bar some surprise appearance, it seems Piper Laurie/Catherine won't be in The Return at all. I mean, I can see how Frost/Lynch would think there's not much to do with her, especially with Nance gone. But I just had this thought the other day, of a potential new Ca...

Re: General Discussion on the New Series (All Opinions Welcome) (SPOILERS)

Question for those in the know about the Twin Peaks shoot, or aware of previous spoilers: Is there any evidence that there were scenes shot in Paris OTHER than those that were shot at Club Silencio (presumably the White Lodge/Giant's house)? No need for specifics... a simple yes or no will satisfy ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I think I did...... it was so long ago I can't remember. Thanks Lurker but yours and about fifteen others contributions have what has really made the thread. I've enjoyed reading it. I've probably come round a little bit since the shock of the first episodes but am not there yet by a long shot. Hop...

Re: Episode 19

The flute/Lana scene in the station has got to be the single slumpiest scene of the S2 slump. All in all, this is the most tonally "off" and weirdest episode of the series (though at least 2 or 3 are worse). I like a lot of things in here though, like the Briggs return at the end (wonderfu...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I feel like I have come around to love and accept the series a lot more now. First I hated it, then I watched it for what it is, so bad it's kind of funny thingy (and sad at the same time). Then hope finally came back with episodes 7 and 8, tiny hope but still... and episode 9 and especially 10 cru...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

The episode has stuck in my head and I do admit it's grown on me already, to an extent. I still think it was incredibly abrasive, but just the Laura/Cole scene alone was beautiful/disturbing as hell and something that will stay with me for a long time.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I expect a lot of people to be disappointed. This episode did not live up to its title. I'm still digesting everything but it struck me as kind of a sequel to Part 6, except even crueler. I'm not sure but it may be my least favorite part thus far, even though it was masterfully directed (as usual)....

Re: Part 10 - Laura is the one (SPOILERS)

Wow, so this was the extra-special "extreme violence against women" episode? Maybe I was just in the wrong mood, but I have to confess that I had a pretty strong gag reflex to almost everything this week. This is the first time I've felt like walking away and not looking back. :( It was d...
