Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

No one is saying that you have to feel anything. I suppose the main feeling people may experience having expectations that are subverted is to feel that you are being 'cheated'. I don't know how comparable to a work of art or painting this is. An artwork is not really capable of quite the same level...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

:D If they don't make a series 4 written entirely by you Lurker, the world is not just. I've got lots of ideas. Just off the top of my head; Mr C goes to the aquarium/aqua park and pets the dolphins; 'Oh. You're nice and wet.' 'Oh. You're nice and wet.' 'Oh. You're nice and wet.' 'Oh. You're nice a...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Let's not jump to conclusions about all this Laura stuff... Maybe the old married couple who live in the theatre, just like to go bowling on earth every now and again. I figure the conversation went like this: Wife: 'Humans dropping bombs again.' Husband: 'Good time to go bowling' Wife: 'Make me a n...

Getting my hair cut just now. This line prompted a literally dangerous laugh out loud.
Haha. Glad you liked it.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I know this hasn't been developed yet but, if this is the direction this goes in, I HATE the idea of Laura as some sort of supernatural force, Bob's equal of sorts. I loved Laura because she was a human, a teenage girl, nonetheless who was completely and utterly over-matched but still ultimately di...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Yeah. Those kind of criticisms of this thread are laughable at best. I doubt any of those people are really taking the time to read any of the posts here anyway. There's two major currents to Twin Peaks; the warmhearted town, and the dark of the woods. So far this season is failing at depicting bot...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I hadn't thought about the Wizard of Oz thing.

But now that I do, I think that is what he's doing isn't it? The woodsman are kind of meant to be some new East coast munchkin...
Lynch can't help himself sticking Wizard of Oz shit in everything.

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

Couldn't agree more with the above, re the genesis of Bob. He was terrifying because he was unknowable. There are so many on this thread quick to deride the 'disappointed' because they think we want a cosy, apple pie mystery. Ok, well if you want to believe that and it makes you feel superior go ah...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I would definitely agree that the rule of horror is 'show less/imply more' and this series has definitely thrown all that out the window with endless exploration of the mythology. Some of its fun to see, but it's killed all scariness of Bob etc for me I agree. One of the problems is that the mythol...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I think this is the right thread to post this in. I should preface by saying I'm actually really enjoying The Return and don't count myself among those disappointed. However, I gotta talk about Part 8. I liked it -- it's obviously very visually arresting and wonderfully cold -- but I'm not sold on ...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

I was wondering if there is anyone on this thread who was swayed or just impressed with last week's episode 8? I can understand people's frustration that The Return is really nothing like the 90s original series. Personally, I'm loving how Lynchian the new series is. And don't mind that it's so far...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

As mentioned, I didn't want more of exactly the same - that would be boring. But some similar tone, characterisation, humour and some storyline that wasn't so tenuous so there was a 'feeling' of TP, would be appreciated. Yes, we all grow up, we change, we get jaded by life to some degree, but creat...

Re: Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group (SPOILERS)

@Lurker... Thanks for the detailed part by part thoughts! I believe Bobby cried in part 4, not 5. And Becky was introduced in part 5, not 6. Just to make it clear. Thanks. Yeah I was just going from memory, not notes or anything...so not surprised I got some things wrong. Do you agree with any of t...
